So, I have heard much about the aforementioned fighter and his "triangle choke."  I was wondering exactly what it is...sooooo....what is the triangle choke?

To be fair, Royce only tapped one of his opponents with a triangle choke (Dan Severn at UFC 4) although it is a common brazilian jiujitsu technique.  It's a choke performed with the legs, from the attacker's back.  It's kind of hard to explain, but the inside crook of one knee goes against the side of the neck, and the other leg figure-fours it on the other side, with the victim's arm and head coming through the hole between the legs.  I think www.bjj.org has an animated GIF of it on the front page.

I think Steve Blackman used the move in the WWF

That leglock choke-hold is also called "Sankako" and it's extremely painful and effective, Severn had no choice but to tap. I've practiced it quite a bit, teached by Royce Gracie himself, and while I can't say that I've mastered it (the jijegatame is my best move) I can do it fairly good. I really don't recall Steve Blackman doing it. Peace.

I don't recall Steve Blackman using it either.  I have short legs so I can't pull it off that often, but it is a pretty common move from the guard.

The leg triangle and the arm triangle operate off the same principle.  Maybe he used the arm variation before.

Regardless, the leg triangle choke is a nasty, nasty move.  I've learned a good bit of ground wrestling with all the other martial arts I've learned and it's a great choke, but hard to apply.  That's probably why Gracie only used it once.  You see more high percentage locks.  That's why Shamrock's ankle lock worked.  Easy to get to, easy to apply, lotsa pain.  I dunno how much he used it, but I know he did a few times.
