Guest Report post Posted May 4, 2002 Seriously..the sold out theatre BOOED at the end of the movie...people were laughing throughout the whole movie..at parts that weren't meant to be funny. Horrible script..Great actors, but the some of the "serious" lines were just hysterical. And the Goblins voice....*groan*. Please do not see this at the theatre...this is a strictly rental feature. The so called serious lines that were funny really were meant to be funny. And I'm not surprised the people in the theater would boo, people expect a happy ending and what they got in spiderman doesn't exactly qualify. I gave a slight silent boo myself but I understand how the ending fits in with the story. If you want to laugh and be entertained for two hours, go and see spiderman, but if you are looking for Deniro quality work like this guy was then you might as well stay home. Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted May 4, 2002 The crowd I was with was fanatical throughout the screening. It was like a Hogan match, they marked out at EVERYTHING. It was fun and really made the entire experience for me. Sure, I was a bit dissappointed in some of the CGI effects (most notably the scene where Pete chases after Uncle Ben's killer) and the fact that the movie moved by pretty quickly, but I enjoyed it. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 4, 2002 I enjoyed the movie...we went for the 9:20 PM showing...but that and the 9:50 were sold out...so we had to settle for the 10:20 It did bug me a little that people were laughing over the stupidest shit. Sure, there were a couple of funny parts, but people would laugh over any tiny thing at all the least bit funny. Overall...thumbs up, hope the sequal turns out as good. Guest Report post Posted May 4, 2002 How the hell could you hate Green Goblin's voice? How retarded. Anyway, I saw the movie tonight and thought it was pretty cool. I thought some of the dialogue was pretty cheesy (mostly the romantic stuff) and the audience was right to laugh at it. Also, some of the CGI looked super fake. On the plus side, I thought the actors did a great job. Willem Dafoe has once again proved that he is one of the best villian actors working today with his performance as Green Goblin. He friggin' OWNED that movie. Totally crazy, and his laugh was perfect. Btw, if you don't like the movie, that's fine. Since the helmet was made of metal, why did Spiderman's punches have any effect? 2. What was the point in Norman telling Peter not to tell Harry that he is the Green Goblin? Wouldn't it be obivous to Harry once they find his father in a green costume with a piece of metal through his body? 3. When did Peter make/get the Spiderman costume? 4. Peter could have been a little bit smarter during the Thanksgiving scene. When he noticed that Norman left abruptly after seeing the cut on his arm, he should have picked up on something. 5. This goes for all superhero movies, shouldn't MJ have known Spiderman was Peter from his voice? Nothing horrible there, so I would still give it a 9/10. Spider-Man's strength does play a factor. Think of the helmet as a goalie mask - it's pretty much right on the skin, so you're gonna feel any impact that hits the mask, even if the mask doesn't break or dent. 2. Norman has always appeared to Harry as a successful person, and Harry looked up to him even if Norman never noticed it. Thus, even in his final moments (until the inevitable Clone Saga), Norman wanted it to look like he wasn't a bad man. 3. He probably got the spandex from the same store that hookers and strippers get it. And he sewed the costume in the comics, so this didn't change in the movie. 4. This was a bit of a problem. His spider-sense should've been going nuts at this point. But remember that Pete was always book-smart, not street-smart. 5. With Spidey, it's a bit different. The mask is meant to help disguise his voice. With Superman and Batman, the change into costume is not just a physical transformation, it's almost a change into a different person, so people don't associate Clark Kent with Superman etc. But then again, everyone in the movies seem to figure out who Batman is anyways. BTW the theather was jammed full for all the night showings as I only made it to the 10:30 showing because the 9:00, 9:30, and 10:00 pm showings were sold out. And everyone forgot to mention J.K. As for Norman telling Parker not to tell Harry he was the Green Goblin. If you watch at the end, Spider-Man puts Norman's body on the bed, dressed in a suit, not his GG armour. I am a fan of the comic, and I even liked the cartoon that was on FOX a couple of years ago. I love the comic..the whole spirit of Peter Parker and Spiderman, especially the last year or so of the comics...So, I wasn't trying to be nitpicky. And i'm not sure that 100 percent of the crowd booed. Like the guy says on one of the posts above me, it's like the crowd chanting "Hogan". I was thinknig throughout the movie, "This is pretty damn cool," but that was mostly during the fight scenes and when he was swingin around and stuff. Green Goblin - I wasn't too disappointed by his appearance because I knew what he would look like well before I saw the movie. I think Norman Osbourne was pretty good and I had no problem with the Grenn Goblin. Webbing - At first I was thinknig, "Why the hell would they make his webbing organic?" I was surprised howlittle it bothered me when I saw the movie. After seeing it, I would say that it's reasonable to make a change like that because that's one less part of the story that you have to tell (him making the web cartridges and stuff), even if it is one less part of the story that you can use (him running out of it). Mary Jane - I didn't really think she was that pretty but, that's my opinion. Ending - I thought the ending wasn't a homerun like Batman's, but it didn't take away my feeling that I had seen a damn good movie.
