Guest razazteca Posted May 4, 2002 Report Posted May 4, 2002 Did anybody catch the Headbangers Uncensored special or the 25 Loud video show? This is the second time that MTV has taunted me at bringing back metal, well the metal that I prefer. Last time they had Rob Zombie host a half hour show with videos by current Ozzfest and Family Values wanna-be bands. Then this week they teased bringing back Headbangers Ball with the "History of" special, then followed it up with 25 Loud, with several potential hosts, making funny comments about the videos. If Headbangers Ball or any show that featured metal who should be the host? Matt Pinfield, or Ian that looks like Pinfield, Ian from Anthrax, Tenadious D, Jesse Camp, Jack Osbourne? I think Ian "I'm not Pinfield's clone" would be perfect
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted May 4, 2002 Report Posted May 4, 2002 Scott Ian the perfect host of any hard rock/metal show. Why? Because of the jokes he makes about every band, including his own (Anthrax, SOD), and the fact that he actually studies the histories of the band, so he knows their influences. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Jesse Camp's skinny ass back on MTV, either...
Guest Choken One Posted May 5, 2002 Report Posted May 5, 2002 Today was an all rock weekend on MTV1&2. Cool for me. Loved the Special on the Mosh pit (Esp. the part with Smashing Pumpkins) and then the H.B show. Will it come back? Most likely a form of Headbanger's Ball will return On MTV2 (where it ought to be) and you can have Ian Scott (take his ROCKSHOW from VH1 and add better graphics and you got the right show), Iann Robbinson (He seems very intelligent about ROCK music), Matt Pinfield is Matt Pinfield. Tenacious D would be a comedy show and that won't suck but JackBlack may be more focused on Movies to host a show. Jack Osbourne? I don't know how "in" he is with ROCK music, and he does not seem like a "host" looks like a horrible interviewer, just have him guest appear often to plug the family. Jesse Camp? As long as Thalia and Ray stay away.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 5, 2002 Report Posted May 5, 2002 Well MuchMusic already has a Headbangers Ball type show. It comes on at 11pm saturday nights and it's called loud and it's not bad it plays some good stuff. I believe that MuchMusic now has a new channel which is a metal channel(like mtvx) called Loud. However i know that everyone doesn't get MuchMusic. I also have no clue how you get the channel loud. Jack Osbourne is into "ROCK music" and i think he has his own label(gee i wonder how he got a record label).
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted May 5, 2002 Report Posted May 5, 2002 Did the ball ever show Punk videos? Did Punks MAKE videos?
Guest goodhelmet Posted May 5, 2002 Report Posted May 5, 2002 I don't remember Headbanger's Ball ever playing any punk videos. I just remember the musical intros using S.O.D. "Chromatic Death"!!! Is anyone here even old enough to remember the original headbanger's ball? They certainly played alot of white lion and great white videos!
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted May 5, 2002 Report Posted May 5, 2002 headbangers ball would rule with Ian, jack osbourne(the first person i thought of when they were teasing bringing it back at the end of the show) and someone(preferrably a metal band member) doing road reports.
Guest converge241 Posted May 6, 2002 Report Posted May 6, 2002 I like how on "rock weekend" MTV fucking cancels my MTVX channel and replaces it with MTV Jams!!! i could live with Jack osbourne as host of a new HBall...he seems like a jerk, but he knows his music
Guest Choken One Posted May 6, 2002 Report Posted May 6, 2002 just use Iann Robinson. He has a strong rapport with metal fans and he's already under contract. J.O will likely turn it down as he'd perfer to run his label.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted May 6, 2002 Report Posted May 6, 2002 I remember the original Ball with Adam Curry, my older brother would sit down in front of the TV for 3 hours on Saturday night.
Guest converge241 Posted May 6, 2002 Report Posted May 6, 2002 the best adam curry episode was where he opened the new Vio-Lence record that was package with puke (chicken soup under the plastic).. I used to watch/tape it religously up until 94, that and Hard 30/60
Guest razazteca Posted May 6, 2002 Report Posted May 6, 2002 Extreme Rock, the other metal show hosted by Rob Zombie, was a sweet show during the weekend. It started with Slayer "Bloodlines", then got weaker with Andrew WK, then Sugercult, Rob Zombie "Feel so good", then Aphex Theory, and finish strong with Korn's new video. I don't know WTF is Extreme Rock considered by MTV standards since they had Slayer with heavy guitars then had Sugercult & Aphex Theory which sound alot like regular rock that is played on MTV. Now if only MTV would have a regular time spot for this show, or at least run promos so people know that it exist. If MTV is bringing back the metal show, then I think that the host could be Ian Robinson with "on the road reporters" of Scott Ian and Rob Zombie, then have the Osbourne family do updates on the Ozzfest tour.
Guest Posted May 14, 2002 Report Posted May 14, 2002 Jesse Camp? As long as Thalia and Ray stay away. Hey! I remember them. What ever happened with those two?
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted May 15, 2002 Report Posted May 15, 2002 Everyone hated Ray. When did you see Extreme Rock this weekend?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted May 15, 2002 Report Posted May 15, 2002 Dudes...SHADOWS FUCKING FALL WAS JUST ON MTV~!~ **splooges self**
Guest razazteca Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 The Rob Zombie show "Extreme Rock" was on Saturday at around Midnight central VH1! has the Rock Show on the weekend late nights not sure about the time slot
Guest Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 Dudes...SHADOWS FUCKING FALL WAS JUST ON MTV~!~ **splooges self** I saw that.....I never heard of them but they sounded ok.
