Simpsons may be cancelled

Some one told me that if the Simpsons don't win an Emmy or something they will cancel the show.  I dont know much so if anybody has heard anything can you please specify? Thanks.

I doubt that's true, but my friend hurt an interview with Matt Groening on the radio.  He said that he is interested in beginning to wrap up the show, but FOX won't allow it, so Groening and FOX are trying to work something out.

Your friend is a liar. Well not really, he's just way off on a basic fact that Groening said in his interview with Entertainment Weekly. He said he is losing interest in the show and wants to wrap it up, but if they win the Emmy this year Fox probably won't let them off the air for a few years.

 

However it looks like 2-3 more years left of Homer.

"The Simpsons" should definitely be ending in a few years... probably around the 15th season.  That's a LONG time for any TV show, and no doubt the longest for an animated season.

 

After that, the subsequent releases of the seasons on DVD should be more than enough for "The Simpsons" fans.

I'd like to see it go off the air soon, personally.  Only because I love the show so much that it pains me to see it suck as much as it has in the last few years.

Yeah well, The Simpsons has been sucking these past couple of seasons.

Homer is usually stupid, but now he's just stupid stupid. He useto be stupid in an intelligent way...I can't really explain it.

I think the Simpsons would have stayed fresh all these years if the characters aged.  Homer and Marge would eventually become senile, which could be funny, lisa and bart would grow up and live their own messed lives, but they would always come back to their family.  Maggie would just be in school.  It may not sound all that epic, but the storylines would have been more varied and the episodes would be more meaningfull.

Man... let me be the first to say "What the funk?!" to that idea.  Have Bart be a teenager... the very idea! That contradicts that one "behind the Simpsons" show where they said they fed Bart and Lisa growth hindrance pills, or something... maybe I'm just remembering things wrong.

 

Plus, that'd make it, like, totally different.  Then again, that is what I asked for...

It's time to finish the show. 13 years is longer then it was expected to last, which wasn't very long in the 1st place.

However, For any non News show/game show...It is Bonanza that lasted the longest of any Network TV Show.

Everybody is bashing the new season's of The Simpsons, saying it's not funny. I think that the newer episodes are way funnier than the first three seasons, when the show focused on Bart, and they tried to be a regular sitcom, only animated. They do have episodes that mean something too, Maude dies 2 seasons ago, remember? It's still an awesome lead in to another great show, Malcolm in the Middle!

The Simpsons have been funny since the beginning with my favorite seasons being seasons 12, 10, 11, 9, 5, and 7.

 

The Simpsons older wouldn't have the same effect cuz the idea is that Bart is the spawn of Satan, Lisa is a gifted child, Homer is a stupid man, Marge is a worry mom, and Maggie is a cute little baby. Her pacifier is her trademark!

 

I would like to know how they would end it. They already have episodes in which they traveled to the future, moved, and teased divorce.

Maybe they'll kill The Simpsons.  They killed Maude, so they've proved it can be done, even though the family has cheated death before (at least, Homer has, what with falling off a cliff twice).

Well i don't think they need to do something big or shocking.

 

Just use the movie to give them the big send off that they deserve. I personally can't imagine what they will do as a final send off. But they can do it as a movie just as easily as they could a hour long show.

 

Maybe we will find out that it was all just one big experiment ran by those aliens that visit the show.

Matt Groening cleared up his comments from earlier in the week.  He claims that he intended to say that the Simpsons is closer to the end than the beginning and that there will be many more years to come.

All I know it was a western either Gunsmoke and Bonanza...I went with Bonanza. Although It might have been Gunsmoke. It was 23 years for whichever show.
