The promotion that spawned XPW set to reform

Recommended Posts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

THE RETURN OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING! THIS TIME, THEY’RE DOING IT FOR THE FANS!

THE PAST:

In 1997, Dynamite D., Patrick Hernandez, and Kevin Kleinrock formed Southern California Championship Wrestling off the heels of the Slammers Wrestling Federation decision to cease operations. In 1998, SCCW chose to end promoting shows on their own and join adult producer Rob Black in his attempt to start a professional wrestling company. The result: XPW. For better or for worse XPW changed both the Southern California and overall professional wrestling landscape during its existence (1999-2003).

THE PRESENT:

As of July 3, 2004, all 3 of the original members of SCCW had no links left to Rob Black or XPW. Dynamite D occasionally wrestled on the independent circuit. Patrick Hernandez officiated many of the matches in the region. Kevin Kleinrock had been out of the business since XPW ceased operations in April of 2003. If there was one thing that XPW did to the SoCal wrestling community, it was divide it. Some fans loved the wild and crazy shows with big name stars no other organization was bringing to town. Others absolutely hated everything XPW stood for and preferred a show 100% dedicated to pure wrestling without all the spectacle and “hardcore” matches.

THE FUTURE:

In September of 2004 and a plan for the future was hatched. Taking the lessons learned with the “XPW experience” (both the good and the bad) the original 3 members of the SCCW front office have teamed up with Steve Bryant of SoCalUncensored.com, the premiere website dedicated to keeping the fans informed about the local wrestling scene, to reform SCCW with a single goal in mind: Doing It For The Fans!

AND WITH THAT IN MIND, WE PROUDLY ANNOUNCE THE REBIRTH OF SCCW!

Our goal: To create a live wrestling experience which will cater to every fan in the So Cal area. These quarterly shows will feature the best of the best of high flying, technical strong style, and hardcore!

CURRENTLY PARTICIPATING PROMOTIONS (in alphabetical order):

Alternative Wrestling Shop (AWS)

Pacific Championship Wrestling (PCW)

Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW)

Each participating promotion will present one match on each “SoCal Supercard” and, in addition to each So Cal promotion’s match, additional “hardcore” wrestling matches, sanctioned by Kings of Hardcore will take place and be taped for Pay-Per-View!

And, on the very first SCCW show, these hardcore matches will take place in the form of a KING OF THE DEATHMATCH TOURNAMENT.

Am I the only one who found an add for a mexican buffet right in the middle of that "huge" press release really fucking funny?

But meh, Everyone's doing "supercards" now, so we'll have to wait and see if this place can be any different.

I didn't mean the fact that they're doing it, but the fact it was right in the middle of their "triumphant return" message.... I dunno, I didn't sleep last night, I'm sick, and need food, so I'm more dumb than ususal right now. Moving on.

It's impulse advertising. It is funny in that regard.....

The Mexican buffet thing actually sounds kinda like the other XPW offshoot, LXW (Kirk Farrington's old fed). They specifically targeted the Mexican community of New York with their shows and advertising.
