2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Believe me, I'd love to see Utah in a BCS game, if only as a big "Fuck you" to the system But there's part of me that still thinks the NCAA will find some way to screw them out of a BCS bowl even if they win out. A change in a vote here or vote there, or even an all out fucked up plot could get Utah ranked 7th or maybe even lower in the BCS poll, outside looking in. That screw-job will come if Michigan beats Ohio State. Mark my words, if Michigan beats OSU then Michigan WILL jump Utah. Also, I really dislike the BCS boy Trev Alberts. That guy can't get on his knees fast enough for the BCS anymore. His "Utah couldn't come within 20 points of one of the top three teams" gets on my nerves. Why not just let them PROVE they can then? What's the harm? And you will never see a playoffs in Divison IA college football. You just won't. If last year did nothing, five undefeated teams with one maybe two not getting a major bowl bid will do nothing either.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Well at least this season will probably give us the playoffs. But if everyone wins out you can make the case for USC and Auburn much easier. Both have been more impressive over ranked teams and both will have a better list of wins than OU by the end. This is what happens when you face scrubs like Houston in non-conference play and your conference goes to hell at the same time. Who did Auburn play non-conference? Oh yeah nobody. OU's non conference schedule was originally as bad as Auburns. Hell they were going to play Florida A&M. But OU's AD decided that they needed a better non conference schedule and that's why he sought out Oregon. Because Oregon was a good team last year. Nobody knew they would blow this year. Actually Dama...everyone knew Oregon would blow this year. But they still give more points than Florida A&M.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 No Trev Alberts is annoying b/c he's a hypocrite. One week he's like "I don't think Utah has the wins to make it to a BCS bowl. They're just not that impressive." Then he goes to do his Top 25 at the end of the show and he's like "Utah has to be 6! They have to be Top 10!" Well if you think they aren't impressive then why are you so desperate to rank them so high? He's been hypocritical before to. Him and Lee Corso change their tune on EVERY team hourly. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Yeah, I hate Alberts but then ESPN has the worst analysts for every sport now.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 ESPN's problem is that their sports analysts are no different than everyone on this board. We all think we're right and are willing to go to great lengths to not change our mind. Same thing with all of their analysts. They have their favorite teams and refuse to budge on their positions. Difference between us and then is that they give more petty jabs at each other than we do.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Oh I know I'm wrong. But I'd almost (repeat: almost) bet money that Utah will fall to 7th in the BCS if Michigan defeats Ohio State. They will drop either in the coaches or media poll and the computers already don't like them. One slip in the human poll and Utah is outside looking in with an undefeated record. teke184 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 New USA Today poll is out- Oklahoma is #2 with 1435 points. Auburn is #3 with 1433 points. It looks like Auburn could jump Oklahoma within the next 2-3 weeks. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm In a slightly related story, Utah is up to #6 in the poll from #8, and is within striking distance of #5 Texas (1222 for Texas, 1203 for Utah)
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 14, 2004 How ugly do you think the coach's poll will be for OU? How many coaches did they piss off yesterday?

Good. I hope they pass Texas because A) I hate Texas B) I like Utah. I think Utah can hang with the big boys. They are a complete football team and with the way they slam those mid-major teams I think they could throw their weight around in some big conferences. Also I'm not having a freak attack over Auburn gaining just b/c.....I knew it would happen. I've prepared myself for it.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Utah plays BYU on Saturday for a chance to be the BCS buster, a spot EVERY mid major team has failed in. BYU lost to USC by 32 so that could also be something interesting to watch for.

BYU lost to USC by 32 so that could also be something interesting to watch for. In the past, the big BCS buster-busters have been Hawaii (Who destroyed BYU some years back) and Southern Miss (embarassed TCU for 3 quarters before making it a game in the 4th). Both of those teams were top-quality mid-majors. BYU is in a serious rut this year, with a season-opening win over Notre Dame as their only highlight. Utah better be careful, but I'm sure they'll pull it off.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 If I ever acquire an AP vote you can damn sure bet I'll do my best to look at the whoel game and not the score. This having to run up the score for the voters crap is just wrong.
