Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Dude has there ever been an internet petition that has worked? I would have to say no.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Yea, it's a pretty well known fact that internet petitions don't work. Think about it, paper/signature/"real" petitions RARELY work, and since it's technically not that difficult to fake every signature on an internet petition, do you really think anyone of any influence puts any stock into it? It's a nice idea and your heart's in the right place, but it's just not going to work.

Guest Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Actually, there was a petition to lift the censorship on the Dragonball manga(American version of a Japanese comic) and it worked. The petition got about 10,000+ signatures and the censor was taken away.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Really? I'm surprised... think about it, all a petition really says is that people are mad about it. It doesn't even give an empty threat! I remember hearing about the blue meanie petition as a footnote somewhere. What was it all about?

Guest Report post Posted May 6, 2002 In addition, it was also an online petition. And the company even released a statement addressing the petition, so it wasn't a coincidence. Still hard to believe to this day.
