Anybody think we should get a review of these piece of trash? I own 4 of them, and they're probably my most viewed "wrestling" tapes just because of their comedic value. I say comedic value, because it's like Jackass with these kids...

There are backyard wrestling videos and DVDs? Are there backyard wrestling federations that make these things, or is it some group that just collects various kids' 16mm/shot on tape stuff and puts it in a compilation?

The latter, evenflow. Backyard Wrestling, Inc. (yes, there's an actual company called that) produces and distributes these videos. They also feature softcore porn, now and then. I actually fast-forward through all of the silicon so I can see more dumbass kids bashing each other's heads in.

 

Mark, I'll try to get a review up by the end of the month. It will more than likely be next week sometime, as Massachusetts sophomores (such as myself) have MCAS, and teachers are told to not give us any homework because MCAS is stressful enough.

Damn... that's some freaky stuff... is there a website or something? Maybe if it's reasonably priced I could pick up a copy and review it for the new site, since that's technically the "low budget b-movie" of wrestling.

 

Good luck on those MCAS... not sure what they are but they sound hard if teacher's aren't allowed to give homework at all for the week because of them!

corey, i know how it is. we had a standardized test all last week and teachers werent allowed to give work at all in the classes we went to(7th and 8th period) we just talked the whole time in those classes.

I visited that site... yech... scary stuff, although I have to admit the sadistic part of me wanted me to see some of the tapes... thankfully my logic/cheap side came in and said "$29.95 for a one hour tape? Don't let those sickos rip you off!"

 

I wouldn't even pay $29.99 for a DVD... if they actually have a set fan-base who would pay that much for a 1-hour VHS, I'd have to say their marketing works well, even if their content and purpose is dangerous, scary, and stupid.

i have 1, 2 and 4.. the other nes out there are 3 (obviously), which i just havent got... and a "women of BY wrestling", which i wont be getting.. i look at them the same way as skating videos or CKY dvd's..good stuff

3 and 4 are my favorites, con. 3 has this big kid, about 6'5", that powerbombs this fat little fucker into a dumpster. Really funny shit. And it's from Providence, too!

No offense to anybody who bought these (hey, it's your money), but I gotta admit that given the choice between backyard wrestling and XPW tapes, I'd probably buy XPW tapes.  And that's with my "I'll never give that son of a bitch my money" viewpoint of Rob Black.  If I thought the kids on the tape were getting the money that would be different, but I don't feel right giving some random guy money while these high school (and younger) kids are killing themselves for their own enjoyment.  Still, I've seen some of the footage that makes its way onto TV in those anti-wrestling things, and those kids are willing to do lots of insane shit.  Here's hoping they don't kill themselves.

Hey, JHawk, I look at it like this:

If these kids are stupid enough to light themselves on fire, dive off of their roofs, and then call it "wrestling," they deserve all the pain and unfair treatment coming to them. They give backyard wrestlers like myself, who refuses to go hardcore and only does it for fun before he can go to a school, a bad name.

Given a choice between backyard and XPW I would buy FMW, at least then you might get a good match.  i don't support things I disagree with by paying money for their products so backyard wrestling is off my shopping list and XPW sucks ass so it's off.  FMW is now on because I liked the Hayabusa DVD and the DVDs are $13.49 at Amazon.com.
