Guest Report post Posted May 5, 2002 We are only a few weeks away from Owen Hart's anniversary, and I decided to make my own tribute video of Owen. I picked out some of his best matches, interviews and added some segments from the Raw tribute to make an exclusive look back at Owen's career in the World Wrestling Federation. While doing this, I thought about Owen and what it would be like if the tragedy didn't happen. Where would he be now? What would he be doing? Then these questions sparked my mind and I wondered about a few other wrestlers that pasted away recently and wondered about them as well. So..I'd like to know what everyone else thinks about these wrestlers, who's lives and careers tragically ended and where they would be, what they would be doing and how would they fit into wrestling and the business today? Owen Hart Well, there's a difference in what I think would of happened and what should have happened after May 23rd 1999, if the tragedy didn't happen. What probably would have happened, is that Owen would have a short IC Title run under the Blue Blazer gimmick and drop the title in the summer and go back to being Owen Hart. I'd say Owen would have stayed in the mid-card to upper mid-card level and would have had a few title reigns, but nothing too serious. Perhaps he would have jumped to WCW in 2000, or maybe he would have stayed, leading up to him still being in the company today. But what I think should have happened is, Owen has a reasonable IC Title run under the Blue Blazer gimmick, then have a 'loser leaves WWF' match with Jeff Jarrett in the Fall. It would have been a classic. Later that year Owen would have great IC title feuds with X-Pac, Chris Jericho and later Kurt Angle. As months would go by, Owen would find himself being pushed to Main Event status and eventually capturing the WWF Title sometime in the summer to late 2000. Can you imagine the excellent matches Owen would have had with the WWF Superstars of today? There would be no doubt in my mind that Owen who deliver five star classics with the likes of Chris Jericho, Chris Beniot, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Eddy Guerrero and Rob Van Dam. What happened to Owen was a horrible tragedy, but its sometimes good to look back on him and think about what would have happened if God let him be. Owen would still do what he loved, and he definitly would still keep us smiling. What do you guys think that Owen would have done, or any other stars who have untimely left the ring recently? Brian Pillman? Rick Rude? Droz? Louie Spicoli? any others? Please do not take this post in bad taste. It is just a way to look back and remember those who affected our lives and to pay tribute to their careers and wonderful talents.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 5, 2002 I think Owen probably would have left the WWF, when his contract ran out then goto WCW where he would be the Cruiserweight champ. Owen would have title defenses against Rey, Juvi, Chavo, Kaz, Kidman, Helms. I am unsure about Louie Spicoli, as I remember it, he was on WCW Saturday Night, proclaiming that he invented the DVD which went nowhere. Rick Rude or Brian Pillman would probably have Tazz's spot as commentator. Droz would be Metal material If Von Erichs were still around David and Kerry would of been WWF Tag Team champions, feuding with Owen Hart & Bulldog, Young Guns, Headbangers. Guest Report post Posted May 5, 2002 I think he would've retired when his contract was up. I have heard several times that he wanted out of the business completely so that he could be with his children... it's a true shame he didn't make it there
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted May 5, 2002 What song are you using for the package, if any song at all? I'd suggest something along the lines of Metallica - "Orion." Around 8 minutes long, pretty damn good song, and there are parts of it that fit the tragedy. OR...Metallica - "To Live Is To Die." The entire feel of that song would fit the tragedy that happened. Hmmm...Spicolli I could see getting a US title run, then jumping to the WWF and feuding with people on Jakked/Metal and Heat. He'd more than likely be on the SmackDown brand right now, since he was a good worker, nothing extraordinary, and was well-liked by many and pretty damn good on the mic. Rude would be the badass heel manager that he was always good at, staying with WCW until the very end, and then maybe doing either behind-the-scenes work for the WWF, or opening and indy/school. Pillman would have finished the feud with Goldust and gone on for an IC title run. He'd be commentating right now, or helping out with Stu and the Hart Family in Calgary in the Dungeon. Droz would be a Euro champ, maybe a Tag champ, and be the "main-eventer" of Jakked/Metal and Heat every week. He was okay, nothing special, but he had a marketable look (to some degree). If he were still wrestling (not paralyzed) and still in the WWF today, I could see him feuding with Albert or even Edge.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted May 7, 2002 I think Owen would still be in the WWE. He was a well respected guy and well liked in the locker room. Maybe he could have been Undisputed Champion.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 7, 2002 I agree with the guy who said Owen would have left when his contract was up. His wife said that he was planning on retiring in 2 years and they would move into their dream house where Owen could spend time with his family.
