Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 11, 2004 A few months ago, I purchased a computer for my room as an alternate to the main computer in the house. It wasn't bought from a store, but from a guy selling down in Brisbane. Got it for heaps cheap too, and it came with a range of goodies, such as thousands of dollars worth of pirated software including films previously unreleased in the country. Things were going fine until just recently when I came around to realising how much space this cocksucker has on it (I can't believe I hadn't bothered to check before - I was just in dire need and didn't check specifics). 4 GB. That's right. 4 Gig. A fucking joke. I couldn't believe it. I still don't feel that I was shafted in the deal, because a 4 GB hard drive, considering how cheap they are to buy, is worth it when you consider the accessories. I've been getting system messages lately telling me of the low space situation on my PC. It's been fluctuating quite a bit, from 100MB to 60 MB. The lowest point was 844 KB. Just tonight, after downloading some tunes, the messages were getting really urgent - I was told that I had 0 MB left. I'd been ignoring the messages for a while but realised how critical this was so I figured I'd have to give Limewire up, my runtime environment and possibly all the pictures on my hard drive. As you might've guessed, I didn't even have enough space to run the uninstall wizard. I had to restart the computer and luckily, I was able to run the wizard... after deleting all of those pictures, freeing up a good 6 MB or so. I then uninstalled Limewire and the runtime environment, which now brings my total space to 63.9 MB. That's luxurious for this system, as is the newfound speed, but I'm really going to need to buy a new hard drive this week. I figure I'll get a good 80 GB one for a decent price, pull this piece of shit and use it as a paperweight. Shame, too - I really didn't want to get rid of those files. Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2004 Why didn't you just...you know...delete some stuff? Even though you said you didn't want to get rid of them..evidently you still had some of those movies or something up there? So why didn't you just watch them...then delete them? That would have freed up space..

Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 12, 2004 buy another hard drive Well now that I've gotten rid of Limewire and the runtime environment, the other programs available for uninstallation are AIM, LiveReg, the software for my cordless mouse, MSN, Norton Pro, Media Player and the XP Service Pack. Not exactly a huge list, so I was really uncertain about getting rid of stuff if I didn't have to.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Dude, a 20 GB hard drive, which would be massive compared to the 4gb you have are really cheap.
Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 13, 2004 I'll probably go for an 80 though. There's a small computer store nearby with low overheads.

yankovic fan 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2004 I just bought a 120 GB external harddrive for like 179.99 at OfficeMax. It's only going to cost 99.99 once I get all my rebate checks in. Well, I got a 30.00 instant at the register, so in reality, it only cost an initial 149.99, with 50.00 more coming back to me in a few weeks. It's REALLY nice.
