Guest Black Lushus Report post Posted May 6, 2002 I know they're CD has been out for a couple years, but i JUST picked it up friday and I am kicking myself for not picking this thing up sooner...does anyone else like this album? i dig Maynard's vocals and actually prefer these songs to Tool songs...seems like most Tool songs are slow and plodding leading up to a good ending while APC songs are just right to the point, I dunno... Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 6, 2002 I also like the cd alot. Was never a big fan of Tool but i like the side band which isn't that much different from Tool. go figure
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted May 6, 2002 The CD ownz man. What I have heard, APC is working on their second CD,
Guest converge241 Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Tapeworm is theoretically on its way... i like the APC album better than laeteralus... i got to see them 2 months before the album came out opening for NIN and usually i cant get into a band without knowing some of the songs but they were so good, a great live band
Guest Black Lushus Report post Posted May 6, 2002 Yeah I've been listening to this CD non-stop now, it's kinda pathetic really and everyone who gets in my car keeps bugging me about playing it EVERYTIME they get on my car...dare I say it, I actually prefer Maynard stick to this project than Tool. at least I don't have to wait 5 minutes into an 8 minute song to hear the part I really wanted to hear... Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 6, 2002 just push Fast Forward. Tool and APC oughta tour together.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted May 6, 2002 I have both, and think they arre both great. I probably prefer Tool though. Tool is what I like to call "complicated listening" it's not right there and you can't pay half attention to it. The 5 minutes leadup to the "good part" of an 8 minute song makes it that much better. 2 and a half minute songs with no build up or intro leave me unfulfilled. Guest pochorenella Report post Posted May 6, 2002 It's a great album, indeed. I haven't heard about a second album, but if true then I hope it's just as good. I also hope Maynard makes an album with Shandi's Addiction.
Guest Shawn 5 Report post Posted May 7, 2002 Tool's 8 minute songs are like a good 30 minute All Japan match. They might seem boring and too drawn out at first, but after you listen/watch enough, you start to understand that every little part means something and builds to a great finish. It's an aquired taste that you need to learn to appreciate.
Guest Black Lushus Report post Posted May 7, 2002 when God has granted you the right to determine what I need, I will heed your advice, until then I will take APC over Tool anyday...
Guest Shawn 5 Report post Posted May 7, 2002 That was a typo, I don't know why I slipped "need" in there. Sorry about that.
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted May 11, 2002 yeah i bought the cd and it is great. a nice alternative to tool in a way that the songs are shorter and less drawn out and repetitive.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted May 11, 2002 I dig this band too... I like that the band sounds so different from Tool. Just shows that Maynard is willing to try different musical styles, which I can really respect, because who really wants to listen the same album over and over again. Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted May 12, 2002 I'll take Dream Theater over Tool any day. Their songs follow the same lines (building towards the epic parts), but they execute it soooo much better than Tool. Tool bores the shit out of me.
Guest Vyce Report post Posted May 12, 2002 Tool's 8 minute songs are like a good 30 minute All Japan match. They might seem boring and too drawn out at first, but after you listen/watch enough, you start to understand that every little part means something and builds to a great finish. It's an aquired taste that you need to learn to appreciate. Amen. This is why Tool is such a wonderful - and yes, brilliant - band, because every single sonic in the song is part of a collective whole. It's freakin' epic. Maynard is my Kobashi (without the fucked up knees) or Kawada. Anyway, Maynard has described the two bands in terms of gender. Tool is the more masculine and aggressive band, while APC is more feminine and subtle. Billy Howerdel is amazing in his own right, and is at work on the 2nd album...not sure when it will come out, but Billy has promised that it will be darker in tone than the original, which should be great. I love both bands, and they're fantastic to see live. APC is worth seeing alone to hear "Diary of a Lovesong". Tapeworm is still being worked on. If you go to http://www.thefragile.com they have updates on the project.
