seriously: congrats. have fun.

 

i finally went to the village vanguard last night for the first time. don't even remember who i saw, but it was a 10-piece band with a boppish pre-'kind of blue' sound. i don't particularly like that sound, but they won me over after about 4 minutes with pure musicianship and played a fantastic set. played off each other really well, adding nice little accents while someone was soloing or seguing a solo into a bunch of dueling fills between saxophones. i went home happy.
