If I were to tell someone I was going to a WWE show, they would give me a weird look and ask what that meant. However, if I were to say I was going to a WCW show, they would give me a weird look and say, "You like that shit?" They had to change their name because of panda lovers? At least I know what WCW is." Vince would never replace the WWF name with WCW. He would probably think WCW gets the last laugh. [Austin, Taz, Lita, Benoit, Guererro, Jericho, etc.] Nah, Vince will never use WCW. Cuz he's petty like that. Guest tominator89 Report post Posted May 7, 2002 All I have to say is this, I've been a WWF fan for around 20 years. The name, to me, is the equivalent of Nintendo in the video gaming world. Now that WWF is gone, I'm all for WCW getting a REAL push. WCW is tarnished, blah, blah. That arguement, while truthful to an extent, doesn't impressive me at all. IF Vince and co. wanted to push WCW legitimately, I think it could definitely take off. I watched RAW with my usual casual viewing friends and they flat-out laughed at WWE; as did I. As long as there is "World" followed by "Wrestling", the fans are gonna want to say "Federation". One friend of mine jokingly said "WWE is one vowel away from being the WWA!" That, in my view, is much worse than WCW. WWA is recoginzed for being filled with a bunch of rejects. WCW is owned by Vince, so it at least gets the rub of being a Vince owned wrestling company. Obviously, XFL and WBF are associated with Vince, but those weren't wrestling companies. People in the entertainment industry at least respect Vince for being a succesful wrestling promoter. I usually tend to wait until a change has taken place for a few weeks before making a conclusion, but as a WWF fan for 20 years, I can't stand it. If I can't have the WWF as is, then I'll gladly accept WCW. People forget that the WCW name meant something in the 90s. WWE is a completely new name that could take years upon years to establish; something that I don't think the company has time to deal with. I guarantee if WCW was handled properly and pushed correctly, it could take off. Oh well, I could easily be wrong in this arguement, but I'd just prefer anything over WWE. It doesn't even sound cool as a name of a wrestling company. ECW, NWA, WCW; now those are names. And Vince completely owns at least one of them. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Of course Vince probably thinks WCW wins the war if he used that name. If Vince wanted the name "Entertainment" in there somehow, why didn't he just use WWFE? All we've been hearing lately has been low ratings, low crowds, low morals on Smackdown, lousy Raw, people fired, out of control plain rides, and Wrestlers having a heavy influence on the book. I don't think that the WWF will go out of business anytime soon but they will experience dramatic losses in revenues if things don't change.
