iggymcfly Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Pretty good sports day for me so far. First, I go watch the Grizzlies beat Northwestern St. 56-7. Now, I'm watching Clean Old-Fashioned Hate, and GT's making a comeback against Georgia, and checking scores, I see EWU even beat So. Illinois. If Tech makes it all the way back, I would be a happy camper.
Der Kommissar Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Let's say that, by some strange fluke, both Auburn and Oklahoma both blow their conference championship games, then who'd go to the National Championship game, and who'd be screwed out of a BCS Bowl? Just curious.
iggymcfly Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Cal's in the national championship. Auburn and Oklahoma are screwed out of BCS bowls. Simple as that.
CanadianChris Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Let's say that, by some strange fluke, both Auburn and Oklahoma both blow their conference championship games, then who'd go to the National Championship game, and who'd be screwed out of a BCS Bowl? Just curious. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see USC vs. Cal II in that case. Auburn, OU and Texas would all not get into a BCS bowl, as Cal and Utah would grab the at-large spots. As an aside, that could very well create the shittiest bunch of BCS games ever assembled.
Damaramu Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 That's Texas Tech's mascot isn't it?
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Doesn't that mean it would be CAL/USC-Orange Utah/BigXII Champ-Fiesta Michigan/Oaklahoma-Rose Tenn/Big East Champ-Suger. ?
Der Kommissar Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Nope. You'd also have to put the ACC Champion: either Miami or Virginia Tech in there somewhere.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I knew i forgot ACC.
Bored Posted November 28, 2004 Author Report Posted November 28, 2004 In that scenerio it'd be: Orange: USC vs. Cal Sugar: Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh Fiesta: Colorado vs. Miami/Virginia Tech Rose: Michigan vs. Utah Could swap the Big East or ACC champ for the Sugar and Fiesta. Rose Bowl would get the first pick and they'd certainly take Utah over the ACC or Big East champ. Just a hunch we won't have to worry about any of this. TCU was just upset by Tulane in the final minute thus costing them bowl eligibility.
Der Kommissar Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I forgot the ACC too, for a bit. I blame it on the fact that both teams still in the race were from the Big East last season. And it looks like UTEP just choked up their game against Tulsa. They had the ball 1st down and 10 at the Tulsa 25, only to lose 14 yards, and are now faced with a 4th and 24 at the Tulsa 39. Barring a miracle, I am guessing they lose the game. And they went for a 56 yard field goal?!? What were they smoking?
therealworldschampion Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Well a Sooner is someone that jumped the gun during the land rush and set up early. They were criminals. Yes it's nice to have your state defined by criminals. Like Australia but less cool. I have no clue what a Sooner mascot would be though. Some crazy old prospector with a pick axe and rifle? Yeah because nothing defines the state of Oklahoma better than a good ol' dirt burglar. Then again, I'm from New Jersey so my state could be defined as a politician taking bribes or by union strikes.

We used to have a land rush in 6th grade after we learned Oklahoma history. We ran out onto the playground and staked our claim and ate lunch. I shot two kids that stole my land......
Bored Posted November 28, 2004 Author Report Posted November 28, 2004 Texas Tech puts away Oklahoma State so the Big XII bowl picture looks fairly clear now. Here are my guesses: Orange: Oklahoma Cotton: Texas Holiday: Texas A&M Alamo: Texas Tech Independence: Oklahoma State Tangerine: Colorado Ft. Worth: Iowa State
nogoodnick Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 The BCS needs to add a provision that if a conference champion isnt in the BCS top 16(Big East) they shouldnt be allowed to go. There are so many teams that deserve to go ahead of Pitt. Louisville, Miami, Texas, BSU, etc.
Der Kommissar Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I especially feel bad for Louisville, as they will be in the Big East next year and would have probably have easily won the bid had they been in the Big East. Boston College probably screwed themselves by moving as they will be middle of the pack in ACC, while they would likely have been one of the strongest teams year in and year out in a weakened Big East.
cabbageboy Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 U of L put an absolute bitchslap on Cincy today 70-7. That was just scary. Hell, Lefors and Brohm just accounted for 15 passes in that game...mainly just ran it on them. Would you believe that I was kinda WORRIED about that game before Guidulgi broke his hand? Cincy had been playing great, won 4 in a row, bowl eligible. Drat, Georgia suvived vs. GA Tech. I was hoping they'd lose and possibly Miami lose so U of L could move up a bit in the BCS. Ah well, we get to fuck around in the Liberty Bowl one more time while some undeserving assholes from our future conference (Pitt, Cuse, whoever) get to soil a BCS game.
CanadianChris Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Man, it is pouring in LA. This could be a sloppy one. I smell upset.
Der Kommissar Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Ah well, we get to fuck around in the Liberty Bowl one more time while some undeserving assholes from our future conference (Pitt, Cuse, whoever) get to soil a BCS game. Well, look on the bright side: the Liberty Bowl is looking to be the only game besides the National Championship that features two teams from the BCS Top Ten. That is just SUCH a ringing endorsement for the BCS, no? And, oh yeah, the crappy Big East team getting a bid could be good for BCS in regards to mid-majors. What I mean is that if Utah wins, they can just say that they beat a crappy team that they were expected to beat anyway and they would likely not be able to stand up to the REAL teams of BCS. By contrast, if they lose, then they are obviously inferior to a terrible Big East team. OF course, it makes them look bad in other way, but at least it has a bit of a possible silver lining.
CanadianChris Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 7-0 Irish following a 93-yard drive.

If it's Miami, then there could be three games pitting Top 10 BCS teams against each other.
therealworldschampion Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 FG by Notre Dame, 10-3.
Damaramu Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Wow USC needs to like stop ND on defense.....
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Go Irish Touchdoooooow...err Field Goal... Jesus!
therealworldschampion Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I demand more camera shots of the USC Song Girls
Damaramu Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I agree with realworldschampion! Finally USC gets a defensive stop. Those ND drives were killers to the defense though b/c they ate a lot of time. That was only ND's 3rd drive!
therealworldschampion Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 TD USC 10-10, and I think Keith Jackson's a little liquored up
therealworldschampion Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 So much for ND staying in this game, USC just got another touchdown 17-10.
Damaramu Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Never have I seen such defensive ineptness. Come on ND!
Damaramu Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Wow this has turned into complete braindeadness on both sides of the ball by ND.
Damaramu Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Way to give me false hopes ND and then just snatch it away. You play like a good team in the first quarter then just FALL APART! God damn you Irish! Damn you!
