therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 I know it's not realistic, I just shake my head in pitty that a team with as lousy of a record as CU has could possibly jump ahead of a 10-1 team. It's happened in the Big 12 before. Remember 1996, I think Texas was 7-4 and they beat 10-1 Nebraska in the Big XII title game and went to the Fiesta Bowl. Screwed Nebraska over in the process because had Nebraska won that game, they would've played Florida State for the national championship.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 I know it's not realistic, I just shake my head in pitty that a team with as lousy of a record as CU has could possibly jump ahead of a 10-1 team. Blame it on the conferences. They want more money from the holding of a conference championship game, so it's unfortunately the risk they have to take to get more $$$. Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 What they really need to do is get rid of divisions, and have every team run a conference championship between their top two teams regardless of who they are.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 The Big XII title game has got to be like the biggest spoiler game of all time.....I mean people are always upset in that game. *thinks about tonight* SHIT! Anyways remember KSU and A&M? Another national title spoiled in the conference title game. The thing about the conference title games is that if these teams played in a normal conference they would've already won their conference. But the extra game sets them up for heartbreak. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 The year KSU lost to Texas A&M was the best Big XII Championship game ever, because it sent the Vols to Tempe to fuck up FSU for the national title.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Anyways remember KSU and A&M? Yes, and I don't need to be reminded again. First there was the questionable TD at the end of the game, and second was how KSU, after losing but still finishing with an 11-1, got juked all the way down to the f'king Alamo Bowl against unranked Purdue. OU and Nebraska can lose the conference but play in the national title game, but KSU couldn't even get a New Years bowl, much less a BCS bowl. Anyways, has anyone pointed out the irony in the ACC title being decided between two teams that weren't even in the conference last year?
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Anyways remember KSU and A&M? That was on ESPN Classics early this week. I'd have to say it was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen as Kansas State was getting away with murder for almost the whole game before the flags disappeared so A&M could tie it up and then A&M won when their receiver went out of bounds and slid into the cone. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Man these fans at the SEC championship game are chanting "overrated" at the very mention of anything from Oklahoma or California. What I want to know is this.....why are we still talking about computers screwing Auburn? I mean the pollsters don't exactly have them ranked for the National title either. Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 then A&M won when their receiver went out of bounds and slid into the cone. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. I don't understand why that one never comes up in the "worst calls of college football history" list (like Colorado's Fifth down or Ohio State's wait-wait-wait-FLAG)
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 What is the wait-wait-wait-FLAG?
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 According to what I'm seeing on the local news the OU fans are outnumbering the Colorado fans by about 20,000 in Kansas City. This might be wild. There were supposedly fists flying last year after the Big XII title game. Doesn't look like it this year. They have Colordao and OU fans ont he news saying that the rivalry just isn't there like it is between OU and KSU.

Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Watching the one game that is on right now, I wish Pitt would go back to just having "Pitt" on the side of their helmet... that "panther" is ugly and for the most part looks more like a dog than a panther
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Looks like Pitt's going to the Fiesta Bowl. They're picking apart South Florida, and will win the Big East by staying ranked.

Guest Ether Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Anyways, has anyone pointed out the irony in the ACC title being decided between two teams that weren't even in the conference last year? Yes. What I'm wondering is if Virginia Tech holds on and wins the game, will any of the jackasses who are bashing Pitt and the Big East remember that the ACC champ will be a team that finished in 4th place - behind both Pitt and WVU - the last two years in the "mediocre" Big East. They'll remember that, but they'll also realize that this year's Virginia Tech team is much better than the team of the last two years. The last two Tech squads had big name players like Kevin Jones, but never could bring it all together across the entire team. Hence the big-time chokes down the stretch. This is a much more cohesive unit; they rely less on a big name needing to make big plays and on "Beamer Ball" than they do on just being a very rounded team that gels exceptionally well. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Every time I actually watch USC play, the thing that hits me is how much more valuable Reggie Bush is than Matt Leinart. The Trojans offense only scores when someone like Bush hits a big play. Leinart can complete four yard passes all day, but they never actually lead to any points, (unless of course Bush breaks ten tackles and runs it in himself.) Anyway, on to the more important game of the day, Montana vs. New Hampshire! The Grizzlies have national TV on ESPN2, and they're dominating because that's what they do. The way they're playing now, the Grizzlies are basically in the national championship. They do not lose at home when they get hot like this. I know they lost to Sam Houston earlier, but if they come to Missoula in December when it's 10 degrees out, they'll be lucky to be within 30 points. EWU might be able to kind of keep it close, but if they couldn't win the game in Cheney, there's no way they win in Missoula.

Bored 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2004 Dama, I'm putting up a OaO Orangel Bowl thread tommorrow so let's just save that until then especially with not everything decided yet. Weird game. USC has pretty much dominated but only up 20-10 because of poor special teams and were really bailed out by a terrible no fumble call.
