Guest Report post Posted May 7, 2002 THE PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING SUPERADDICTION TAPE #1! 6 Hours. -Ric Flair is chaufeured by sweet William to his new jet. Ladies tell him that he is ready to take off. The intercom ruins the take TOMOKO WATANABE/ NANAE TAKAHASHI vs MIMA SHIMODA/ ETSUKO MITA- 2/3 FALLS- ALL JAPAN WOMEN- : This was my fave Joshi match from the last DVDVR Joshi 100 viewing period and it sealed my love for Tomoko Watanabe- as she fucking RULES IT in this match. Mita and Shimoda are fricking great and hot, in that order- thoroughly bringing the bashy, bludgeony pain to the chunky AJW Ass-stompers. ASIAN COUGAR vs TAKESHI SASAKI- DDT- 11/2002: This is for their 24-7 Hardcore belt so it's falls count anywhere- which is all you need to give these freaks to enable them to take the nastiest bumps in all Japanese Indie Scumdom. Sasaki is the KING. Asian Cougar is so fun as he dies for your pleasure. DDT is where fun is in the '02. RIC FLAIR vs JIMMY SNUKA- MID-ATLANTIC- I'm assuming 1979ish: Raven Mack gave me this great tape of all these Ric Flair matches from Mid-Atlantic on film. This match shows how much Flair was influenced by Ray Stevens' bumping style and shows how great Snuka was as a worker- watch him blade while running. And the evil Snuka broke my heart when I was 12. (Sound kicks after a few seconds- which is weird because it's usually just overdubbed crowd noise on these things.) LA PARKA vs MISTERIOSO- AAA HH-7/14/96: La Parka and Misterioso take it too the mat in Tijuana and it's all beautiful and shit. I get a feeling that this is Misterioso I missed out on early in his career when he was supposedly the better of the tagteam with Volador. La Parka is as multi-faceted a luchadore (when inspired) as just about any. DIG THE KISS BOOTS! MIMA SHIMODA/ ETSUKO MITA vs MARIKO YOSHIDA/ LIONNESS ASKA- ARSION- 7/29/01: This match is absolutely beautiful. Aska and Yoshida punch Mita and Shimoda right in the face. Mita and Shimoda bash Yoshida and Aska upside the head with chairs. The brawling, the beating, the hating- THAT'S THE PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING, DADDY! MASATO YAKUSHIJI/ EL GRAN NANIWA/ NAOHIRO HOSHIKAWA vs DICK TOGO/ MEN'S TEIOH/ SHIRYU- MICHINOKU PRO- 2/97: Yakushiji had a short-lived Insect gimmick and this was it's coronation. It was a fabulous mask. He was an average wrestler who didn't really reach his prime until he was in Osaka Pro, and then he fell off the face of the earth. This also has Naohiro Hoshikawa- wrestling wunderkind from ZERO-ONE- back when he was simply "that guy who is gonna fucking rule in a few years". It also has Nanaiwa before he broke his leg and became really inconsistent before becoming far more consistent in All Japan. Either way, watch all three get a new cornshoot torn for them by Dick and the Boys from the late, lamented Kaientai Deluxe. DOUG WILLIAMS vs ANDRE BAKER- LADDER MATCH- INDEPENDENT WRESTLING ASSOCIATION- SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND- 8/10/95: I cannot for the life of me remember how I got this tape but since Doug Williams is the rage amongst the kids and us codgers alike, I thought it would be fun to go back to when he was a mere child with comically long hair and ladder matches were a big deal. Andre Baker was a good little wrestler too and he's completely out of control in this. Doug was far more about eating hot death here in the bloom of youth than he was about dazzling one with his matwork. JIMMY GARVIN vs DAVID VON ERICH-WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING- 6/17/83- Ft Worth: The kids have never seen David Von Erich and I had this on tape from All Japan Classics, so I figured you could see that David Von Erich had a very outside chance of being the next Barry Windham if the drugs hadn't done him in. He was tall, his offense was really dynamic, he threw great punches and he was doing Japan tours so he could have become actual WORLD CLASS. He looks great in this match with a game Jimmy Garvin in front of a crazed redneck crowd in Fort Worth. He'd be dead a year later. Don't do drugs, kids. PIMPINELA ESCARLATA/ ARSENICO/ REY RABANA vs. BALI/ TORNADO/ SUGRIVA- AAA- 3/95: Back in the old days, before AAA became Tony Pena's man-admiring fetishes come to life, he would have these other gimmicks that were so fun and goofy that you had to be charmed by them. I always loved the weirdness of Bali, Sugriva, and Rey Rabana and always wondered about the story behind the masks. Bali has a monkeytail, little pants, goes for the comedy jokes and would later become BLACK MOTHERFUCKING WARRIOR. Bali and Rey Rabana rip it up. Pimpy also rules in this with his gigantic Barbara Streisand hair. Arsenico is a big day-glo green load. Ah Lucha, how I love you so.... SUGAR SATO/ CHIKAYO NAGASHIMA vs KAORU/ TOSHIYO YAMADA-GAEA- 2/22/1998: KAORU and Yamada were a fabulous tagteam- mixing KAORU's highflying with Yamada's ass-beating. And their counterparts in the GAEA Young Punkin Brigade was Sugar and Nagashima- which combined Nagashima's highflying with Sugar's ass-stomping. Combined into this match makes a fabulous wad the Professional Wrestling, NOW ENRICHED WITH BUCKETS OF BLOOD! It's got run-ins and surprises, like an estrogen-soaked MidSouth er sumthin. RAY GONZALEZ vs INVADER #1- WWC- 2/2002: Ray Gonzalez has based his life on Ric Flair one would think- when one finally finds a source for the Puerto Rico Wrestling and get to see him in the ring. Watch him carry a decrepit Invader to a good match by bumping like a freak and creating a bunch of little stories within the match like Flair would when trying to carry a shmoe in a gym in Tupelo. Grampa does his part by spewing blood out of his head. The crowd is INSANE as every Puerto Rican crowd is. SUPER DELFIN vs EL PANTERA- FRONTIER MARTIAL ARTS WRESTLING-10/30/94: I always thought Super Delfin was greatly overlooked by everyone in wrestling fandom's rush to deify everyone else in the primal Michinoku Pro. Delfin was the creative force that made MP so charming back then and Osaka Pro so charming now. He can also wrestle his ass off. Folks forget that. This match is one of those little gems that come from Sasuke and Togo and Delfin always staying close to their lucha roots for inspiration- so much so that they would bring over the real McCoy to reinforce MP's own Lucha approximations. Pantera has it all- in the air, on the mat, all with breathless grace. Plus I remember losing it over the Tope Con Hilo the first time I saw it. JUMBO TSURUTA vs GENICHERO TENRYU- ALL JAPAN PRO WRESTLING- 6/6/89: HEY! In case you never saw the greatest match of the 1980s... God, you go through your tapes when you are in a comp making mood and you forget that have stuff like this sitting on your shelf that you had forgotten that you had. Tenryu was REALLY fucking great when he was younger- and here he is completely balls to the wall. Jumbo let's Tenryu be Tenryu and then he brings hellfire from above as this is about as intense as wrestling gets. One of those pinnacles of professional wrestling that we all wanna see on the tapes of the professional wrestling. (I have two versions of this. The better vq doesn't have the introductions so I added them before switching over to the actual match from the better vq source. You need to see Tenryu being the Fonz Of Ass-Beating as he stands there waiting for the bell to ring.) Oh Kevin Sullivan, you devil-worshipping psychopath. Here, he speaks of the beetlenut and jackals and the Purple Haze after King Curtis bellows over some chicken bones and then the whole gang of proto-Temple Of Set misfits try to scare the fuck out of the Floridans who just wanna see some rasslin. Now you know why all those Death Metal bands came from Florida. The late great Gordon Solie laconically makes the call. Only in the South, my babies.... EL HIJO DEL SANTO vs PSICOSIS- PROMO AZTECA- hh- 10/3/97: Before he formed Revolution Pro, Ron Rivera was the guy who recorded everything in Tijuana and he thoroughly documented a really hot period of Lucha in Tijuana. He and Damien Lauley- whether they realize it or not- turned on thousands of folks to Lucha Libre who had no access to the artform by supplying the Lucha goods- me being one of the converted. Santo and Psic had some classic bouts in AAA in 1995. Here they rekindle some magic- taking it to the mat in the super fucked up lucha way that Psic useta be so good at. Santo is sporting the Greatest Cape of All Possible Capes. Unbelievably, Psicosis decides to take some of the sickest bumps in the history of wrestling in this match. SURGE vs VENOM- NCW- SYLVA, NC- 4/3/1997: God, this was the coolest sleazy indie in all the world for a few months. The co-eds smoking cigarettes right at ringside while chugging Budweiser makes the setting for this complete garbage match between the future Matt Hardy and the future Joey Abs just that much more filthy and violent. I wish THIS promotion had gotten the TNN contract rather than the played-out ECW. NCW would have overrun the South. The annoucing team is soooo the greatest thing ever concocted in the great state of North Carolina. LIONESS ASKA/ MAYUMI Fuckin' OZAKI vs KAORU/ TOSHIYO YAMADA- GAEA- 2/1999: This is fucking WILD. This spills all over the place as much as the previous match- except Koruken Hall is the grimy bar and the crowd can't smoke and drink while wrestlers fly all around them. Lionness is motherfucking balls out beating the shit out of folks. KAORU is wearing the metallic purple Master Of Your Domain destroying outfit. Fuck that! Shimoda shows up sporting the Annette Funicello White Sweater! Add to that the minky foxiness of Mayumi Ozaki in complete ass-stomp mode and everyone that enjoys the pleasure of beautiful people beat the living fuck out of each other are are at full attention. Super Star Unit vs GAEA was one of the greatest fueds ever. Onita's Eagles- styled band play us out with their bittersweet brand of folkrock..... $13 postage paid. Guest DragonflyKid Report post Posted May 7, 2002 I would advise people not to but from Rasmussen, last year I ordered tapes from Scott Mailman($50.00 worth) but never received them. Mailman seemingly has disappeared and ripped people off in the process. Dean and the DVDVR boys seemed to know Mailman from the mentions of him on their site yet when asked what happened to Mailman they don't reply as if they are covering up for him. I also sent an e-mail to Dean about the situation and all I got in return was being banned from the DVDVR message board.

I haven't talked to Scott Mailman since the 2001 Super 8. And I didn't ban you unless you deserved it. My advice is to get your story straight before you start talking shit about me. Thank you. DEAN. Guest Tim Cooke Report post Posted May 7, 2002 Dean is a great trader/seller and a fine person to boot! Just because Mailman has fucked some people over doesn't mean all the traders at DVDVR are bad people. Maybe, just maybe, you should have checked your sources before ordering from him. Just a thought. Tim
Guest DragonflyKid Report post Posted May 7, 2002 I just found it odd that when there were many threads at your board about Mailman's disappearance you never answered any of them that I remember even though you seemed to know him somewhat. If you lost touch with him after the 2001 super 8 you could have at least responded to one of the threads and stated such. Your failure to do so made the situation suspicious. As far as me being banned, I posted a response to a non-controversial subject one day just as I have done previously, I sent you an polite e-mail the same day regarding the purchase of one of your tapes but also asked if you had any knowledge of Mailman's whereabouts as I was weary of buying tapes on-line and wanted to get that matter straightened out before I placed an order. I got no response from you and when I went to post the next day at the DVDVR board it said I was banned. What else am I suppose to assume? I never said anything that warranted being banned, the subject matter of my posts were never warned as being ban-worthy or my posts deleted yet I get banned out of nowhere the day after sending you an e-mail. I mean, he had like five Glenn tapes that I had loaned him- all of which are ten hours of Original TV footage from Japan on each one. I don't know what the story is with his MIA routine but I would like to get up with Mr Mailman as much as anyone he owes tapes to. DEAN.
Guest Report post Posted May 7, 2002 I just found it odd that when there were many threads at your board about Mailman's disappearance you never answered any of them that I remember even though you seemed to know him somewhat. DR: I didn't know where he was. I met him once and loaned him some tapes at the Super 8. He had always been fine to trade with up to that point. If you lost touch with him after the 2001 super 8 you could have at least responded to one of the threads and stated such. Your failure to do so made the situation suspicious. DR: I didn't know that we were all supposed to be accounted for. I figured at that time he had gotten backed up or something. As for being suspicious, we don't actually have a DVDVR bunker where we hide out renegade tape dealers who got in too deep. Guest DragonflyKid Report post Posted May 7, 2002 Dean if you would have just answered like you just did about not kowing what happened to Mailman I would have been pacified and was even interested in purchasing your Joshi and Jaguar comps. It was just the lack of responses from you DVDVR guys when all the questions about Mailman came that made me think you guys had something to hide. Tim, about checking out my sources before ordering, my sources were the DVDVR guys and Dean himself. Mailman was highly recommended by many, the link to his website was on the DVDVR site and Dean personally vouched for Mailman's reliability. And yes I have AOL, so maybe that was the reason for me being "banned."

DR: It also happens to folks who use Roadrunner too. If we're weren't such Compu-Idiots, we would have fixed it by now. DEAN.
