Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 They're doing the awards show on ESPN right now. Discuss the winners. Agree? Disagree? This was a show that The Sooners cleaned up awards on last year and they only have 3 guys nominated this year. As a matter of fact the nominees look way more spread out this year. Coach of the Year: Urban Meyer(Utah) Spirit Award: Tim Frisby(South Carolina) Contribution to College FB: Vince Dooley(Georgia) Walter Camp Player of the Year: Matt Leinart(USC) Bednarik Award(best defensive player): David Pollack(Georgia) Biletnikoff Award(best reciever): Braylon Edwards(Michigan) Butkus Award(best LB): Announced on Friday Lou Groza Award(best kicker): Mike Nugent(Ohio State) Ray Guy Award(best punter): Daniel Sepulveda(Baylor) Lombardi Award(best lineman): David Pollack(Georgia) John Mackey Award(best tight end): Heath Miller(Virginia) Maxwell Award(most outstanding player): JASON WHITE(Oklahoma) Bronco Nagurski Award(most outstanding defensive player): Derrick Johnson(Texas) Davey O'Brien Award(most outstanding QB): Jason White(Oklahoma) Outland Trophy(best interior lineman): Jammal Brown(Oklahoma) Jim Thorpe Award(best defensive back): Carlos Rogers(Auburn) Doak Walker Award(best running back): Cedric Benson(Texas) *PS* How many most outstanding player awards can we have? There's the Walter Camp, Maxwell, and Heisman!
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Ray Guy Award(best punter): Daniel Sepulveda(Baylor) Well, I guess he gets a lot of practice from being on Baylor and all. Nice to see that someone on Baylor won something though.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Well Cedric Benson wins the Doak Walker over Adrian Peterson and JJ Arrington. I'm not really upset about Peterson not getting it b/c one day he's going to have it and a Heisman more than likely. But I'm glad that Cedric Benson got some recognition finally. But Reggie Bush said "Benson is the ONLY one that deserves the award" He kind of insulted Peterson and Arrington there.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Jason White wins the Maxwell Award! *runs around the house chanting Boomer Sooner*
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Nevermind I got them all. I think Jason White also won best QB last year. Eli Manning won most outstanding player last year and didn't win the Heisman but White did. It's an omen! Leinart just secured his Heisman!
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Well I guess the Cal snub is a clean sweep this year.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Well Cal didn't win any awards and USC only got one. It was pretty much a southern sweep.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Ok did nobody else watch this? Does nobody else have anything to say?
Guest Brian Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Well Cal didn't win any awards and USC only got one. It was pretty much a southern sweep. So it was a West Coast snub then. Seems to be the norm.

Well Matt Leinart won the Walter Camp player of the year award......that's not really a snub. And he's probably going to win the Heisman. That's definitely not a snub. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 I would of chosen Tuberville over Meyer for COY. Undefeated in a much better conference.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 I would of chosen Tuberville over Meyer for COY. Undefeated in a much better conference. Well I've seen those two pretty much all year as the various coaches of the year. I mean I might lean towards Tuberville b/c at the end of last season he didn't even think he'd have a job with Auburn.
