Canned heat

Recommended Posts

So I was at RAW last night in Hartford. Getting to my seat a good hour before the show started I was startled to hear prerecorded boos coming from the PA system. Later in the show I could swear (as could my roommates I went to the show with) that there was a canned "Hogan!" chant too. Has anyone else noticed similar shenanigans?

The last time I was at a live show was a Smackdown taping about a month ago, and I didn't hear any canned chants or boos.  And I've never known WWE to do anything like that.

But these are desperate times, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were piping in crowd reactions.  When Vince gets desperate for ratings, there's very little he won't do.

If it gets like WCW I will stop watching.

I'm pretty sure it was a WCW Thunder from 2000...

It was a nothing match with Price Nakamackie or whoever he was and someone else...and the crowd was going wild...

But when you saw shots of the crowd they were all sitting calmly staring at the ring...most of them with their arms crossed.

But the canned WCW noise had the crowd cheering non stop...durring a headlock the canned crowd would be cheering loudly...then even louder when something happened...then back to loud durring a rest hold or moment of boredom...

It was sooooo poorly done...they could have gotten away with it if it were realistic...but they got greedy

dude, I was at raw, there was no canned heat, stop making shit up.

So which of you is lying?

Anyone know the legality on canned heat?  I'm guessing it is %100 legal.  It would be kind of funny if WWE had that "X was filmed in front of a live studio audience." thing. Heh Heh.

I'm not making anything up, dude.

I heard the boos first at about 7:30, right after I took my seat. There was no match, there were no wrestlers or TV personalities (Lilian Garcia, Coach etc.) to provoke a reaction out there, and yet three times I heard a booing that seemed to come from the top center of the arena, near where the thingie with the speakers and the big tv screens was (is there a name for these? y'all know what I'm talking about... the scoreboard cube thingie...).

It's just too bad they have to resort to prompting the crowd like that when you consider how some of the biggest stars ever (i.e. Austin) got that way because of people giving the opposite reaction to what they were 'supposed' to.

Also, did anyone else who was there notice what a babyface pop Booker T got? I even saw people all around the Civic Center 'raising the roof.'

and the tension mounts.

As dull as the crowds have been recently for live shows, I wouldn't doubt that WWE is pumping in the noise.

I doubt they'd pipe noise into the arena... I could see them MAYBE putting some extra crowd noise over the TV feed by jacking up the volume...

I've definately been hearing fake cheers on TV shows like Metal and Heat for a while.

Also fake woooos when someone gets chopped are commonly heard by my ears.

Am I going insane?

Or is it another Triple H Conspiracy?

Well, Metal/Jakked/Metal en Espanol, Heat, and Smackdown are all pre-taped, and it is well-known that they 'sweeten' the sound in postproduction. Their doing it live is what is interesting...

And RobStone, you at least have to agree with me that seeing Hogan on the motorcycle live was one of the funniest things ever! He looked so frustrated...

I can understand canned heat, to an extent. Logic says you push over guys, but if they REALLY want to get someone over it makes sense to use the can.

However, if the reports were true (not saying they were) but if they were actually toning DOWN RVDs pops, well that's bad business, and fawking retarded to boot.
