Children of the corn

Is the Children of the Corn series any good? There are a lot of 'em, and my friend who works at Hollywood Video has actually rented and seen them all, but said there are only a few moments really worth watching, but he said one scene in part four I think was actually scary.  He's more of a mainstream movie fan than me though, so not to say I don't trust his opinion, but was wondering what others had to say about the following topics:

- Just what is the series about?

- Which of the films are the best, and is the series on the whole worth watching?

Honestly, the first one is the only one worth seeing IMO.

The rest are shite.

The basic plot synopsis from IMDB:

"A boy preacher named Isaac goes to a town in Nebraska called Gatlin and gets all the children to murder every adult in town. A young couple have a murder to report and they go to the nearest town (Gatlin) to seek help but the town seems deserted. They are soon trapped in Gatlin with little chance of getting out alive."

I actually think that 4 is the only one in the series worth watching. It was a straight to video deal and is a sleeper.

1 is too boring and bland...while the story itself is alright, the movie just drags.

2 is just a putrid movie...I know I've seen 3, but I don't remember anything about it except not being impressed.

Growing up Children of the Corn was my favorite horror movie, I'd still highly recommend it. The characters in COTC were great, Malachi and Isaac were both creepy, not on the level of the old man in Poltergeist 2 but creepy nonethelesss.

I've seen two of the sequels and they weren't very good but if you liked the original the sequels might be watchable.

I really enjoyed the first Children of the Corn, I even picked up the DVD.

I saw Part 2, but didn't like it that much (I barely remember it now). I haven't seen any of the other sequels, but maybe I will check out part 4.

The original is worth watching though.

I saw the first one and it always creeped me out (I'm from Illinois and spent many a summer on the farms working). There was a squel on one night I went to the drive-in for one of those dusk till dawn shows, but too many beers, blunts, and a certain blonde kept me from seeing it.

Part one was good. Part two was not good. Part three was just another "Hey! Lets take this series that mostly takes place in underpopulated small town areas and put it in the city with some Thug Gangstaz, yo!" movie. Part 4 I couldn't sit through even if I was strapped up like Alex DeLarge, and I didn't see parts 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 or so on.

Bottom Line, Puppet Master (NOT the alien movie) has more good movies in it than the COTC series

Children of the Corn doesn't even have a real killer, it's just a bunch of satanic bumkins stabbing people with pitch forks.
