Fuzzy Dunlop 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2004 Sandy Krum, former assistant athletic trainer to Dave Groeschner, who was fired in November is suing for wrongful termination. He says that Groeschner was not officially licensed to be a trainer in the state of Illinois, and that Groeschner made some decisions which possibly had huge effects on the Cubs season, and caused players to be out much longer than they would have. All Cubs fans remember the countless injuries that were always thought to be like a week, then two weeks, then a month, etc. Krum says he brought this to the attention of Jim Hendry when inspectors were at Wrigley investigating the falling concrete, as he realized the whole operation could be shut down if one of those inspectors just happened to ask for a license. Krum claims he's a lifelong Cubs fan, and was looking out for the Cubs' best interests when he brought this to Hendry. Supposedly he brought Hendry a list of 40 things Groeschner could have done better, but Hendry ignored him. Krum believes Groeschner was fired for those things, and that Krum was fired for "being a whistleblower."
