EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Unforgivable Blackness Ken Burns is releasing a new documentary, a two episode special about the career of Jack Johnson, boxing's first World Heavyweight Champion. I find Johnson's career quite interesting, and Ken Burns usually puts out an excellent product. For those interested, the show premiers on PBS next Monday, January 17. The dvd comes out Tuesday, the 11th.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 8, 2005 they released the DVD before they aired it on tv? that's strange. However; I love Ken Burn's work and I don't think the story of Jack Johnson gets enough attention. I'll be watching this. Is it aired all at once or split in stages? EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2005 Did anyone else watch this? I thought it was fairly good. It concentrated more on social aspects than about boxing, particularly in part 2.
Guest Brian Report post Posted January 19, 2005 I watched. I've never seen footage of Johnson though I had read a little about him, and his style was really advanced for his time. It was very good overall, and pretty balanced in terms of sport and history. Some of the stories were pretty incredible.
