Since 99% of you are older than me and finished High School, then can you help me with this?

I am doing a report on Franklin Delano Roosevelt's (33rd President Of The United States)"Four Freedoms" speech from 1941. The only promblem is that I don't know where to find information so I decided to get some help from some of my smark brothers!(and sisters)

I need the transcript to summarize. I also need to know who exactly wrote the speech and why. I need to know what it reflected about U.S. society at the time (I think I know this anwser. The fear of war) How did it change society and its impact. Also, why is it important and finally, websites, books, magazines with background information on the speech and I need lots of it!

Please help me. I really don't want to fail.

maybe these will help make life a little easier!!!

as for books, go to your library and search for any biographies on roosevelt or political science books that include the four freedoms.

Since we know the speech took place on Jan.6 1941, see if there are any Time magazines or New York Times databases, maybe in a microfilm cabinet at the library.

Also, things you should search for that are alluded to in the speech

-WW1 and the Versailles Treaty. also look under Woodrow Wilson

-The Munich Pact

- modern warfare. what were the technological advances FDR alludes to in his speech? why were they a reason for concern?

- remember, this is part of the great Depression and the New Deal was still in effect. Where does he allude to New Deal programs?

Now for the four freedoms-

1. freedom of speech and expression

(Hint: the power of this states that if we believe it is good enough for our own then it should be good enough for everyone in the world. reinforcing our own beliefs)

2. Freedom to worship God

(Is Roosevelt meaning every God or his God? )

3. freedom from want (calling for economic freedom but is he implying capitalism? )

4. freedom from fear (alludes to Hitler and his New Order. we should be able to live in peace without invasions which is what Hitler did)

Hope this helps and gives you some points to start from!!!!
