The oaoat folder situation

A number of you have been involved, including some of the board mods, have been asking the board administration about creating a separate folder for the OAOAT little E-fed that is emerging.  Under normal circumstances, as a Mod, I would allow it because I think its pretty damn funny.  However, I'm going to have to tell you that it shouldn't be done and I'll tell you exactly why.  

 

Whenever you enter our forums, or use our pulldown menu, you see the "Smarks Wrestling Federation"....an E-fed that has its own folder on our boards here.  They basically do the exact same thing you guys have been doing, except they haven't kept it all in one thread.  Due to an agreement that they had with the old site, they are paying 10 bucks a month for that exclusivity.  We decided to honor their previous agreement when we purchased our new server.  

 

IF we were to give you guys your own folder and pretty much give you guys the exact same thing that they are paying for, then we are ripping them off.  There will be a lot of controversy in terms of why you guys shouldn't pay and they should.  I mean, think about it....if you guys had to pay for your own folder, would you?  I seriously doubt it.  You'd just use one of our forums and continue doing it free of charge the way you're doing now.  

 

Now, the only solution that I can give you is this.  

 

I can pin the main thread at the top of the Fantasy Booking folder (cuz thats where it really belongs) and you guys can just continue doing what you're doing there.  Create as many threads as you like (although we should only pin the main ones), but thats as far as we should go with it.  Anything else and you'd be getting preferential treatment.

I didn't know about the deal with Smarks Wrestling Federation paying for their folder.  That's very interesting, but you're right, it's definitely a good business decision (for lack of better terminology at the moment) on the behalf of the board mods to honor the deal with SWF.  I definitely respect that.

Sounds good to me, Dames.  I'm sure none of us were aware of the deal, but I think it's cool that at least you've offered to pin us up in the fantasy folder, since you didn't even really have to do that for us.  Thanks.

I smell huge hits if we see an OAOAST vs. SWF feud. We could call it "InVasion: Winner Take All!" Smell the money. The t-shirt sells. The foam fingers. It would be bigger than the Superbowl.

 

 

I give both feds credit. The fact they spend time on that stuff shows they like it. They both do a great job. I got hit with a lot of PM's for a OAOAST folder.

Of course I would want all the royalties. Since you guys are "giving" me an Honorary Championship Belt on HeldDOWN! and the fact I'm doing my Jesse "The Body" Ventura impression (Which is gold. Trust me.)...I need to start living the gimmick.

Hey all,

 

I have an idea for you, concerning the SWF. You see, there are actually TWO leagues right now that comprise the Smarks' official e-fed : the SWF (mostly old IGN veterans) and SJL (mostly newer talent)

 

Before the WF left IGN for the Smarks, there was a third league, the ML. However, this league was merged with the JL because of the lack of people.

 

Now that we're here at the Smarks, there would be MORE than enough people to resurrect the third ML league. All you would have to do, pretty much, is strike some sort of deal with the Smarks head honchos and with the SWF commissioners, and maybe you could have your own official subleague along with us. The original members of your league wouldn't have to deal with the due-paying system, as you guys were the ones that built your e-fed... all of these ideas should at least sound reasonable.

 

Of course, I have no say within the SWF/JL, nor the Smarks, but I just wanted to give this idea to you guys, as it could turn out to be a perfect compromise to having two separate Smarks e-feds. Any positive or negative feedback would be great, esp. from the SWF commishes and whoever's in charge here. Even if this goes through, some people are bound to disagree with this plan of action and add in their valuable input.

 

So, uh... what do ya'll think of not having two official e-feds, but still doing your own thing in a half-league?

Why doesn't someone just make a website and have it be an ACTUAL e-fed?  The SmartMarks.com can have two links to the feds.. SWF and the OAOAST (oh God.. PLEASE change that.. it's too long ).  After the OAOAST is built up well enough and has a few shows under their belts, then maybe an invasion or something could take place.

 

I wouldn't help writing some matches for the OAOAST either..  I have experience, too.

Isn't Smarks Wrestling Federation kind of a belief suspending name?  Why would a "REAL" federation be named that?  Seems like a fed Pillman would start, except he didn't like smart marks.  For the OAOAST e-promotion I would stick with the Angle/HHHating motif.

We're the Smarks Wrestling Federation because we're being hosted by the Smarks. They were formerly the IGN-Wrestling Federation when IGN hosted them.

 

Don't think of it as interfering with suspense of disbelief. Think of it like a Japanese baseball team called the Kelloggs Tigers or whatever. :-)
