D'von, get the bible!

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one who thinks the "Reverend" character is pathetic?

Gives sermon. What, what, what. Goes nowhere.

Next week: Donations stolen. He assualts the theif. We should boo him because of this? Can anyone explain that?

Next week: Mark Henry + Religious Huckster = Money in the bank. Damn.

Now = Already overshadowed by "bodyguard." Does modified version of 23rd Psalm (what, what, what!). Has offense against HHH, despite the fact that he and four other guys barely beat him down earlier in the show! Meaningless win after massive interference. Cole: "He broke commandment number 8! Damn him! Now, let's check in on fun-loving Edge!"

Church and Ring should be separated.

They should just give him an interview segment ala Brother Love. His in-ring skills are mediocre at best, but I think he'd be okay as a mouthpiece, so just have him put over guys with his "Greed is Good" schtick. He could even be the instigator for Deacon Bautista to get into scuffles. At least we'd get someone wrestling who might get the crowd's attention.

That's the same WWF Logic (patent-pending) that says dressing women up in more clothes is more exploitive than getting them half-naked. Granted, when Torrie is dressed like she was on Smackdown, I'm not gonna complain, but still....

I actually find it far more entertaining than what Bubba is doing on RAW.

I think that the gimmick is going fine....I just think it will soon have a ugly ugly turn into bad writting...as with all gimmicks.

give it a month ... he'll be a manager/mouthpiece for Deacon Bautista.

Not that that's a bad thing, as Dvon is a good speaker, but it sucks to see a team that I've marked out for since their days in ECW turned into ... the dancing-est hardcore champ and a religious manager.

I'd say D-Von is doing better than Bubba anyway.  At least they aren't making D-Von dance for fucksake.  D-Von just doesn't work as a singles wrestler so either he will be backing up Deacon Batista or forming a tag team with him.

Bubba's pretty sad too...at least he's nondenominational! Plus he does the "right thing," that being carrying out the woman he just assualted...

I like D'Von on the mike, but the material he's given...ugh.

Why should church and ring be seperated!

Brother Love?

The Undertaker?

Fools...each and every one of you...fools...

There's something grossly lame about D-von's Reverend gimmick. It's not his fault or anything, in fact i think he's doing a great job with it. But I guess crapiness is contagious in the WW(E)F cause it's just not doin' it for me, much like everything else in the fed right now. Maybe it's the fact that he's feuding with Mark Henry over a collection plate. Maybe it's the lack of heat he has, or maybe it's just me. Shrug, all I know is that I head to the fridge when the church music hits. Poor D-von...........

... maybe it's because he's a priest that's also a fucking wrestler!  Was it just me or did D'Von look horribly out of place during the mob beat-up on Triple H at the beginning of SD?  It's not because he's black either, it's because he is the only one of the bunch with a shitty 80's gimmick.  How the fuck do you become a reverand in 2 weeks?  He plays the character well, but it's too bad the character is 15 years late.

If they really want to spice it up, as I suggested before, incorporate this whole priest/pedophile thing into his gimmick.  That'd give you a reason to boo him.

Also, LOL @ "Get the bible!"  He should use one as a weapon like O'Reilly from Oz.

Devon's gimmick is very 80s-ish indeed.  However, I am willing to give it a chance to work.  I think he is doing a good job with the material he has to work with.

I disagree with everyone's assertion that Bubba's gimmick sucks.  I like it when he dances.

His gimmick makes me uncomfortable, but he seems to be working with it. He remids me of the right to censor....

D-Von's father was/is a minister/reverend, which is where he got his "Testify!" schtich.  I think they should play him as a "REAL" minister.  Talking about things going on in the world.  BTW, Priests are Catholic, D-Von isn't.  I think he could be a good manager/wrestler.

Many other church's define themselves with the term Catholic outside the Roman Catholic church, i should know, I used to go out with a Church of Ireland's Priest's daughter... how do you deifne a "real" preacher? I give it five minutes before Vince'd piss someone off by having D'von talk about something he shouldn't...

I find the Rev. D-Von character funny to an extent, but maybe he should have dropped the "D-Von" and became "Devon" (like, a real name instead of a Dudley Boyz name).

I just think the creative team is just floundering and decided to expand the fact that D-Von's catchphrase was always "Testify"

Am I the only one who thought it was hilarious when Jericho said "Test-a-fee-ee-yiiiii!"?

They could push Deacon as the next Undertaker and Devon as his Brother Love/Paul Bearer/Reverend Slick manager.  Of course, we'll probably see a "Manager Battle Royal" at WM X-9...
