Royal Rumble 1992  

 

Announcers:Bobby Heenan and Gorrilla Monsoon.January 19,1992,Knickerbocker Arena,Albany NY.  

 

-Alright before we get started let me in form you that the first match of the event between the New Hart Foundation Vs. The Orient Express has been cut from this tape and I have been told that the New Hart Foundation won and the match was actually pretty decent.

 

 

-Intercontinental Title Match:The Mountie(champion)Vs.Rowdy Piper(challenger)The crowd is going wild for Hot Rod,loud chants of Rowdy going through the arena.A lot of walking around until Hot Rod goes right after the Mountie and he is pounding on him. The Mountie goes out of the ring so Piper goes after him and he has to pay for it as The Mountie answers.Hot Rod answer though and a bulldog by Piper.He works on The Mountie's leg.Gorrilla is making fun of Heenan who is worried about what number Flair got.Piper misses a dropkick and The Mountie starts pounding on Piper.He then gets a couple of near falls and throws Piper out of the ring but Hot Rod comes back with a sunset flip and he is giving it to The Mountie.The Mountie hits Jimmy Hart by accident and Piper with the sleeper and it's over.Piper is the new Intercontinental Champion!!!He shocks him with the stun gun,not a bad match.**1/4.He celebrates with the fans in Knickerbocker.

 

 

-WrestleMania VIII,Sunday afternoon April 5,1992 at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana!!!

 

 

-Mene Gene with the Bushwhackers and Jamison.

 

 

-Beverly Brothers Vs. The Bushwhackers:The Bushwhackers have Jamison in their corner and Beverly Brothers have the Genius in their corner.They begin with the Bushwhackers doing their thing.These two teams fought each other like a million times in 1992.We begin with the Beverly Brothers double teaming on the Bushwhackers until the Bushwhackers answer.This is like a stall fest in this one.I don't even think that The Brain and Gorrilla know which Bushwhacker is which and which Beverly Brother is which.The Bushwhackers keep doing some pretty cool double teams to the Beverlys.Everytime there is some action the Beverly Brothers jump out of the ring or something but know the Beverlys are illegally doing some good double teams to the Bushwhackers.The Genius is enjoying the Beverly's pounding the Bushwhacker.Both men where down until the Beverly's out smarted the Bushwhackers and Jamison claims that they are cheating.The Genius just slapped Jamison right across the face and Jamison is just making sure he isn't bleeding.We are pretty far in and neither announcer has call either Bushwhacker Luke or Butch and they haven't called either Beverly as Bo or Blake yet.The Bushwhackers had the momentum for a minute until the Beverly's took the momentum back and finished the Bushwhackers.The Bushwhackers just cleaned house and they Jamison he can hit The Genius,so he kicks him in the chin.So the Bushwhackers and Jamison(who is wearing The Genius's hat)are celebrating after the match.Typical Bushwhackers/Beverly Brothers match.1/2*.

 

 

-Mean Gene with the Legion of Doom.

 

 

-WWF Tag Team Title Match:Legion of Doom(champions)Vs.The Natural Disasters (challengers):The look each other down before they begin.Hawk and Typhoon start and they tie up and a shoulder block by Typhoon and Hawk clothslines him from the top rope and gets Typhoon down.Earthquake is in and he misses a drop kick which was actually pretty commical.Animal and Earthquake are both throwing punches followed by a double clothsline and Animal misses a body slam.Typhoon is in and the Natural Disasters hit with an avalanche but Hawk comes back.Animal now in and a back breaker by Typhoon and he gets thrown into the top turnbuckle.Earthquake with a back breaker on Hawk.Typhoon is now back in and he is pounding on Hawk,a bearhug by Typhhon onto Hawk.He gets out but gets caught again and Eartquake is back in and he is pounding on Hawk.Heenan tries to get "some guy"who might be imaginary to find out what Flair's number is.Hawk is fighting back  and he makes the tag and Animal is in and he is cleaning house.Both teams are going at it on the floor and the Legion of Doom gets counted out.The Legion of Doom cleans the house afterwards and celebrate.Better than I originally thought.**1/2.

 

 

-Shawn Mooney who interviews a very angry Jimmy Hart and Natural Disasters.

 

 

-Gorrilla and Heenan discuss the Tag Team Title Match and some other stuff.

 

 

-Gene Okerlund with a very ecstatic Rowdy Piper who has a dream,his eye is on the prize.

 

 

-Shawn Mooney in the heel locker room and he gets bumped by the Barbarian and Shawn Michaels  and they show what happened on the Barber Shop with him and Marty Jannetty which is a very classic moment.

 

 

-Interviews with the Macho Man,Sid Justice,the Repo Man,the British Bulldog,Jake Roberts,Ric Flair w/Mr.Perfect,The Undertaker and Hogan.That is is 8 guys and with Piper,the Barbarian and Shawn Michaels you have 11 out of 30.

 

 

-Royal Rumble Match:The Fink explains the rules and Jack Tunney comes in to a mixture of cheers and boos to officially welcome everyone to the Royal Rumble!!!# 1 is the British Bulldog and # 2 is Ted Dibiase.And they are off and they just battle back and forth and Dibiase has control with some great manuvers, but the British Bulldog clothslines Dibiase out and he was eliminated.# 3 is Ric Flair!!!Heenan starts cursing and he is flipping out.Thye lock up and Bulldog pushes him followed by a powerslam, followed by a clothsline.Flair comes back but and # 4 is Saggs of the Nasty Boys. Bulldog keeps pounding on Flair but Saggs in and he goes right for Bulldog and they are double teaming on Bulldog.Bulldog comes back and eliminated Saggs.We are back to Bulldog and Flair,Flair with chops but Bulldog with a slam and # 5 is Hakue, and he goes right to Davey Boy but Haku then nails Flair.Flair is taking a break for a few minutes and then he goes back to working on Haku.Bulldog and Haku are both working on Flair and now Davey Boy eliminates Haku and # 6 is Shawn Michaels and he and Flair go at it and Michaels with Somewhat Sweet Chin Music and Bulldog with a powerslam on Michaels,and Bulldog clothslined Michaels out but not to the floor and Flair and Bulldog are going at it and # 7 is El Matador,Tito Santana and he goes right to Flair but Michaels hit Tito and Bulldog hits Michaels and a supeplex by Flair.Flair with a lo-blow on Davey Boy and he tries to eliminate him until Tito interupts and hits him with the flying forearm and # 8 is the Barbarian.Michaels and Flair are working on Tito.Barbarian and Flair are trying to eliminate Bulldog but they can't get the job down and Tito and Michaels are going at and # 9 is the Texas Tornado and he goes right to Flair and then he nails Michaels.Bulldog with a slingshot on Michales and he almost eliminated him.Tito is pounding on Flair and # 10 is the Repo Man and he wonders around the ring for a minute and he goes right for Michales.Tito with a crossbody on the Barbarian,everyone is just walking around and just hitting whoever they see.# 11v is Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and he goes right to Flair, and Tornado is pounding on the Repo Man,Flair has been getting pounded by everyone in there.Michaels is almost eliminated by the Bulldog and Tronado but he holds on, and # 12 is Nikoli Volkoff and he goes right to the Repo Man.Flair and Valentine are still going at it and he gets the figure four on Flair and Volkoff got eliminated.# 13 is the Big Bossman and he goes right to Flair and Greg Valenine is eliminated,the Big Bossman eliminated the Repo Man.Davey Boy is hammering Flair until Flair eliminates Davey Boy followed by the Texas Tornado and # 14 is Hercules and Michaels was just eliminated.Hercules goes right after Flair and Flair nails the Barbarian and has to pay for it,but Hercules and the Barbarian are both eliminated.The only two in there right are Flair and the Bossman and Bossman gets eliminated.# 15 is Rowdy Piper and he starts pounding on Flair,Piper is on fire and is just pounding Flair and the crowd is going crazy and an airplane spin on Flair and then a sleeper by Flair and # 16 is Jake "The Snake" Roberts and he goes after Piper and Flair is basically knocked out and Jake with a short clothsline on Flair.He was going for the ddt but Piper hit Jake,Piper starts pounding both of them and # 17 is "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and he goes right after Flair and he is destroying him him and he is keeping the momentum on but he starts going after Piper until Piper goes after Flair but Flair answers with a supeplex and they are going at it and now Duggan and Flair are going at it.# 18 is I.R.S.,I.R.S goes right after Flair and then Duggan,and Flair and Roberts are trying to eliminate Piper until Duggan breaks it up and # 19 is Jimmy Snuka and he goes right to Flair and now Duggan is working on Flair,until Duggan gets hit by Jake Roberts.Piper almost eliminates Flair and then Jake's almost eliminated.# 20 is The Undertaker and he goes right to Flair and everyone is just hitting whoever they can find.# 21 is Randy Savage who goes right for Jake and Jake gets eliminated and Savage jumps over the top rope and goes after him but he isn't eliminated because they said he jumped over.Everyone is just nailing whoever they see and Flair with a lo-blow on The Undertaker,and # 22 is the Bezerker. The Bezerker goes right after Duggan,and they are battling it out,and The Undertaker,Piper and Flair have a three way choke hold on,and # 23 is Virgil,and he goes right for I.R.S.,but he has to pay for it,and Flair is trying to eliminate Duggan.The Undertaker is choking Flair,and he is trying to eliminate him.Virgil and Piper are duking it out,what a difference a year makes.#24 is Col.Mustafa,and he goes right for Duggan.Piper is almost eliminated by Flair,and Gorrilla keeps calling Ric Flair,Rick Martel,and guess who # 25 is,"The Model"Rick Martel,and he goes right for Virgil,and then Martel starts pounding on Flair,and I.R.S and and then Martel are trying to eliminate Flair,and Mustafa was eliminated.# 26 is Hulk Hogan,and the crowd is going wild,and he goes right after Flair,and The Undertaker and the Bezerker go right after Hogan,and then The Undertaker followed by the Bezerker were eliminated.Hogan starts pounding on Martel,and Virgil and Duggan get eliminated,and # 27 is Skinner, and he goes right for Piper,and Hogan almost eliminated Flair.Skinner is pounding Hogan while Flair and Martel almost eliminated Piper.# 28 is Sgt.Slaughter,and Martel eliminated Skinner ,and Slaughter goes right for Flair.Flair has been in there for 55 minutes,it's not far to Flair,but hje's still in there.Hogan is ponding on Flair,and # 29 is Sid Justice,and he starts pounding on I.R.S.,I.R.S. and Flair are pounding on Hogan,now Sid is pounding on Flair,and # 30 is the Warlord,and he goes right to Piper,and Hogan supeplexed Flair on the floor, and Justce just eliminated Slaughter.Piper eliminated I.R.S.,and the Model nails Piper,and the Warlord gets eliminated.Sid eliminates Piper and Martel,and we are down to Hogan,Flair,Justice and Sacvage,and Savage is eliminated.Justice just eliminated Hogan,and Hogan grads Sid's hand,and Flair eliminates him,and it's over,and Flair wins!!!Hogan and Sid have a giant staredown after the match,and all the officials have to seperate the town,and the crowd chants Hulk who?*****,best Royal Rumble of all-time!!!The crowd is really behind Sid!!!

 

-Mean Gene with Jack Tunney,Mr.Perfect,Bobby Heenan and Ric Flair who gives his victory speech.

 

-Bottom Line:Not that great of an undercard,but an awesome Royal Rumble match.
