Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted May 11, 2002 Well in the next month, these three games are coming out for the Gamecube. And considering that I just plunked down some cash for a new cube, Im wondering about these games. I remember how everyone praised the first UFC game, and although Im not a hardcore fan of UFC, I have seen a few events and would probably be interested. As for Legends of Wrestling, I think it was pretty much a mixed bag of sorts and I'm not so depraved of a wrestling game that I'll plunk 50 bucks down for it considering that X8 is out a mere 3 weeks later. But I might give it a rental. Ahh..and of course WM X8...will it be better than No Mercy? Graphics wise duh, but the whole control scheme thing still has me kinda befuddled. Of course Im going to buy it the day it comes out, but am I going to get nearly 2 years out of it like I did No Mercy? That is the Question.. Of course there are a ton more games coming out, including Eternal Darkness which is also on my Buy the day it comes out list, as well as all those franchise games (Mario/Metroid/Zelda/Starfox) coming out by year's end. Hmm.. Oh, and the Gamecube is definitely the console for Soccer fans...
Guest Report post Posted May 11, 2002 I am waiting for Metroid and WM X8. I would recommend just renting Rouge Squadron... unless you like a challenge of going to the gold emblems which is a BITCH. Resident Evil is supposed to kick as well.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted May 11, 2002 I hate Star Wars, so RS is out of the Q no matter how good its supposed to be. Never bought anything even remotely related to SW and never will, ever.
Guest Report post Posted May 11, 2002 You mean you don't go to Star Wars premiers wearing your own home-made Darth Vader costume? What the hell is the matter with you? Pikimin is supposedly really, really good.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 12, 2002 First things first...Super Monkey Ball rules. It looks like a childrens game...but it just rules. But it gets super hard super quick. There are great mini games in it...and the main game is ultra-addicting. you can find it everywhere for 30 bucks...worth every penny. and Super Monkey Ball 2 is coming soon. Stop laughing. Anyway: At the very least WrestleMania X8 will be the best WWE game since No Mercy (cause...look around). It looks good to me...but as with all wrestling games...you just never know. Resident Evil does indeed kick ass...and an all new Resident Evil 0 will soon follow. than they will port Res 2, 3 and Code Veronica over to cube...followed by the all new Res Evil 4. Games coming soon that could be good: Super Mario Sunshine (if you like Mario....well its a Mario game. IMO it really doesn't look so great at this point...but you never know. It IS Mario) TimeSplitters 2 (This game wil flat out own. The first one was great...but this is going to be so much better. Level Editor baby...um...anyway. This comes out on all 3 systems...but I included it because....I wanted too) Of course there is Metroid Prime, Star Fox adventures (which looks alot like Star Fox in a Zelda game...thats a good thing...right?), sometime next year a regular Star Fox game will hit too. Batman: Dark Victory comes out for all 3 consoles...but looks interesting. I don't know why they made Zelda look like he does...but a new Zelda game is coming... A Perfect Dark game eventually... and I already put my preorder down on Eternal Darkness as well. Go gamecube.
Guest Report post Posted May 12, 2002 I always rent games before I buy them, because sometimes the reality of the game isn't as good as the anticipation. I'm really looking forward to WM-X8, but I'll still rent it first. In the long run, it saves you money. I've had a GC since January, and I have never bought a game, because I rented the ones that looked interesting first. The only one I have been tempted to buy is Super Monkey Ball. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 13, 2002 I love Super Monkey Ball. I rented it when I got the system (...um...like 2 weeks ago) then I saw it for 30 bucks the other day and couldn't resist. The only other game I've bought is Resident Evil... ...but I'm probably going to buy Mania and Eternal Darkness.

Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted May 13, 2002 I'm pretty sure WMX8 is lacking very much like RAW in Game modes. But add in the fact that you have ALL the new people INCLUDING the original (and best) nWo I'd say ity's a keeper. Scott Hall's final game too!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 14, 2002 As far as game modes go... it has a path of a champion mode...where you climb the ranks to go after whatever title you choose...and apparently...well you are going after a specific belt...you can also try to win other ones...who knows... it also has battle for the belts mode...where you try to win all the custom titles and can then defend them...and even have unification matches with friends. (it will also keep belt histories for all the custom belts...and there are over 40 of them) All the regular match types are there (single, tag, handicap, triple threat, fatal 4 way, Battle Royal, Royal Rumble, Hardcore, Cage, HIAC, Ladder, Table, TLC, Iron Man) And of course Create a Wrestler as always. Yeah, all that plus it's identical to Smackdown. Oh wait, that's not a good thing. I have watched all of the movies, and that schwag attempt to add a grapple button didn't change the game any. It's basically Smackdown 4. The wrestlers STILL don't sell moves when getting knocked down. Real annoying when your finisher is a top rope move. Speaking of which, has anyone else watched the 5 Star Frog Splash movie? Pitiful.

Smackdown 4? Please. I have been on the game since it's been released... and I admit it does look pretty much like a SD!4 at times, but I guess you haven't seen ALL the movies. Like how in a RVD/Hogan movie after a superplex from RVD, Hogan stays down for a good 5-6 seconds. Plus, he sold it by grabbing his back after the move. RVD ALSO sold the move from the impact of it. I suggest going back and looking at some more movies... Oh, and I have seen the 5 Star movie. I must agree... it could have been much better.

I have been following the game since last November. I don't exactly know when it was announced, but I know some of the things that were promised, which obviously from the movies are all untrue. Pluse, you can tell from the thirty second movie clips that the move sets are terrible. I can't exactly remember what move it was, but in one of the clips some wrestler other than the wrestler whom uses the move exclusively used a trademark manuever. That isn't a good thing, not in a thirty second movie. You can praise this game all you want, but I know that I won't be let down when it comes out. I have a grip on reality. And for the record, match types don't mean dick. I played No Mercy & Fire Pro D both for well over a year, and it was only singles matches & tag matches that I played in. Who cares about a cage match when it sucks ass? How about Smackdown 2's amazing casket match? Who gives a rat's ass. Bottom Line: This game will be better than Legends of Wrestling & WWF Raw, but don't expect more out of it other than that. I'll rent it, but I won't buy it. If you want a good wrestling game, go back to No Mercy of Fire Pro D, because this isn't this title to look forward to.

Damn, it sounds like every wrestling game so far on each next-gen system is going to suck, I'm considering sticking with No Mercy until THQ get new brains or something and try to get AKI back with them, I'm not playing another carbon-copy of the Smackdown series. And Trish Stratus doesn't even have her theme and real finisher in the game? Talk about slacking off.
