Royal Rumble 1991  

 

-Announcers:Rowdy Piper and Gorrilla Monsoon.January 19,1991,Miami Arena,Miami Florida  

 

-We are in the middle of the Gulf War so the crowd is true red,white and blue(like they are now in days)

 

 

-Opening Match:The Rockers Vs.The Orient Express:We begin and they pound on Michaels,Jannetty the save and a few double teams and it is finally one on one and it is Janney and Kato and Jannetty has a side headlock on.He comes back then their is about or seven awesome reversals until the Orient Express take over but not for long as Jannetty comes back and he has an armbar on and Michaels is in.He continues working on the arm and he gets a shoulder block but Kato nails him with an eblow and then a headlock.A blind tag to Tanaka back fires and Michaels gets a two and back to the headlock.Some guy in the crowd starts singing we will,we will rock you.A sleeper by Michaels but Kato hits him and a leg sweep and he keeps the momentum on.Here comes Michaels and he does a moonsault onto Tanaka followed by some awesome double teams.A double crossbody blocks on the outside.Michaels gets a two count onto Kato and Jannetty is back in with a headlock on and another double team and Michaels is in.A double team by the Orient Express and Michaels is down and cane to the throat!!!Kato is working on Michaels and Tanaka is in and gets a two but Jannetty interefeers but Kato is working on Michaels.The crowd is going crazy trying to get The Rockers back into it.Does Marty Jannetty think he is Mike Myers when he was Garth.Kato gets a two count and Michaels comes back by driving his head into the ground and an awesome reversal and Jannetty is in and a few scoop slams and dropkicks and a two count,a two count by Tanaka and he is tripped by Michaels and he gets a two count and the Orient Express answers,a slingshot chop, they try it again and Jannetty goes over Kato and he get the three count!!!Awesome match!!!****1/2.

 

 

-Mooney with Savage who says he has a commitment from Sgt.Slaughter for a title shot.This is followed by Gene Okerlund with Sherri in a classic moment as she challeneges the Warrior if he holds onto the title will he give Savage a title shot and she acts like a nowaday diva and he says NNNNOOOO!!!This comes important later.

 

 

-WrestleMania VII,not that far away and it's March 24,1991!!!

 

 

-The Barbarian Vs.The Big Bossman:They tie up and The Barbarian is pounding The Bossman but a big boot and a shoulder block by The Bossman.A chop and he throws The Barbarian into the post.A thumb in the eye by The Barbarian but The Bossman comes back and The Barbarian is on the outside.Back in and a superplex by The Barbarian..A clothsline by The Barbarian and The Bossman is tied up in the ropes and The Barbarian is pounding on him and The Brain gets to have his fun and The Barbarian with a backbreaker and a beahug and he hold it on for a few minutes but The Bossman gets out but The Barbarian keeps the advantage and momentum on The Bossman and back to the bearhug,a couple of head butts by Teh Bossman and an enzugri and both men are down but The Bossman gets up first and gets a two count.A stun hun by The Bossman and he gets a two count and the irristable force met the immovable object and both went down.The Barbarian with a clothsline from the top rope and he gets a two count.They get up and The Bossman with a sidewalk slam and he gets a two count and a piledriver by The Barbarian.The Barbarian from the top rope and momentum is reversed and The Bossman gets the three.Good Match.**1/2.

 

 

-Shawn Mooney with Sgt.Slaughter and General Adnan.Dress right dress sepcailly you The Ultimate Puke.

 

 

-Gene Oklerlund with The Ultimate Warrior who doesen't make any sense.

 

 

-WWF Title Match:Sgt Slaughter(challenger)Vs.The Ultimate Warrior(champion): Warrior nails both Adnan and Slaughter and rips the Iraqi flag and he hits Slaughter with the flag and he sends Slaughter into the post and Slaughter goes to the floor and Shierri comes down to ringside.A shoulderblock and another but Sherri grabs the leg of The Warrior and he chases her to the back and Savage attacks and nails him with a giant light.Slaughter keeps distracting the ref and The Warrior is crawling and trying to get back into the ring.Slaughter goes out and throws him back in and is dominating The Warrior.A backbreaker and he spits on him and he is kicking him but a double clothsline!!!Both men are down,when they get back up Slaughter puts a bearhug on him and he is pounding him and it looks like he is humping him.The Warrior is trying to fight back and he gets a body slam but that hurt his back.Slaughter is working on the back,The Cammel Clutch but Warrior's legs are on the outside of the ring.Warrior fights back with about four clothslines and a flying shoulder and Sherri is back and The Warrior grabs her and throws her into The Macho King and Slaughter hits him and The Macho King hits him with the cepter(or the giant light,whatever you refer to it as)and Slaughter with an elbow and the 1-2-3!!!Warrior was robbed and the crowd chants bull$shit!!!Mixed feelings,**.

 

 

-WrestleMania VII,March 24,1991!!!

 

 

-Koko B.Ware Vs.The Mountie:They tie up and The Mountie misses a punch and gets drop kicked by Koko and and The Mountie rolls to the outside.An armdrag and back around and Kok with a punch and back to the arm.The Mountie with punches but Koko fights back but The Mountie throws Koko over the top.The Mountie nails him with the cadillprod.The Mountie with a claw and he sends Koko's head into the turnbuckle and back to the clwar or a choke,I can't tell.A sunset flip by Koko and he gets a two count. The Mountie throws Koko to the floor and Koko reverses a piledriver but The Mountie fights back,a neck breaker but Koko with a head BUTT and a body slam.Koko with a drop kick from the top and The Mountie gets him with a chokeslam and gets the three. That was nothing 1/2*.

 

 

-Shawn Mooney with The Macho King and The Warrior starts pounding on the door!!!

 

 

-Piper is very disgusted with what happened and he has wrist bands on just to do play by play.

 

 

-Gene Okerlund interviews Sgt.Slaughter and General Adnan(you know Iraqian isn't a real language)

 

 

-Piper's headset flies off while he is going crazy.

 

 

-People on the streets say a message to the people over in the Middle East fighting in Desert Storm.

 

 

-Piper and Gorrilla talk about some stuff about Hulk Hogan visiting people who's family is in desert storm.

 

 

-Interviews time,Jake Roberts,Earthquake,Greg Valentine,Texas Tornado,L.O.D.,The Undertaker,Jim Duggan,The Model,The British Bulldog,Mr.Perfect and Tugboat!!!That is twelve people.

 

 

-Piper talks about having din din with Virgil.

 

 

-Shawn Mooney with Ted Dibiase and Virgil.

 

 

-Dusty and Dustin Rhodes Vs.Ted Dibiase and Virgil:There was some lady stting near the entrance dancing around to "American Dream"All four men start and Dibiase and Virgil are being dominated by the Rhodes.We start with Dustin and Virgil,they tie up and Virgil with a few punches and a flying clothsline by Dustin.Virgil knees Dustin but Dustin fights back and Virgil is out of there.Dibiase comes in and is pounding on Dustin and sends him to the corner and a back drop, a fist to the forehead.Rhodes sends Dibiase to the mat and forearm city.Dusty is now in and is punching Dibiase in the corner and it is a sleeper but Virgil interupts and Dusty tags in Dustin and he dropkicks Dibiase.Virgil is in and Dustin hits his knee on the turnbuckle and Virgil is now working on the knee.He sends the knee into the the post.They are injuring the lateral calateral ligiments and Dibiase is pounding on the knee and Virgil hits Dibiase by accident and Dibiase pounds him and Dusty is in.Dibiase rolls him up and it's over. Not bad **1/4.After the match Dibiase starts yelling at Virgil to get him the title and he gets it but just lays it down and he yells at him to pick it up so he does and nails Dibiase and the crowd goes wild!!!Piper goes even more wild!!!Virgil leaves to a standing ovation.

 

 

-WrestleMania VII,March 24,1991,it was going to be the biggest one ever if not for "bomb threats"

 

 

-Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan,we just got reports that Sgt.Slaughter had defaced the American flag.

 

 

-Royal Rumble Match:# 1 is Bret Hart and # 2 is Dino Bravo.They lock up and Bret to the corner but Bret comes back.Bret almost clothslined Dino over.Guess who the ref on the outside is,Here Comes the Money.......Shane O' Mac!!!Dino misses one elbow and # 3 is Greg Valentine who goes right to Dino and they just start pounding oneach other and Dino kicks Valentine in the stomach.The Hammer sends Dino over and out. Hart with an atomic drop and he is trying to eliminated Valentine,# 4 is Paul Roma and him and Valentine are working on Bret but Roma starts pounding on Valentine but those two are trying to get rid of Bret but they can't get the job done.Valentine is working on Roma and they both go after Roma and # 5 is the Texas Tornado who is pounding on Roma and Valentine and Bret misses an elbow on Roma.Tornado and Roma are going at it and Bret gets nailed by Roma and Valentine is taking on Tornado.# 6 is Rick(Tim)"The Model"Martel(Embler) and he tries to get Bret to go over and Valentine and Tornado are going at it.Hitman and Martel are going at it and now Roma and Martel are going at it and # 7 is Saba Simba, he is pounding on everybody, Tornado almost got Martel to go out and Bret almost got Martel to go out.Tornado is fighting with Roma and # 8 is Butch the Bushwhacker.Butch is dancing around and he gets hit by Valentine and Simba is eliminated.Bret and Tornado are working on Martel, Martel is nowc working on Tornado and # 9 is Jake Roberts who goes right for Martel!!! Short clothsline and Martel rolls out under the bottom rope.They are battling while Bret,Tornado,Valentine,Butch and Roma work inisde and # 10 is Hercules who is helping out Roma pound on Butch.Hitman almost knocked Martel out.Tornado is battling with Hercules and Butch is pounding on Bret and # 11 is Tito Santana!!!He goes for Martel and Roma is elminated!!!Santana almost got Martel to go over the top rope.Herc is working on Bret and Tornado with Jake.Many people are scrambling around in there.# 12 is The Undertaker and he goes for Bret and throws him out.Bret was in continously for over 20 minutes!!!Tornado is fighting with The Undertaker.Martel and Jake are battling and # 13 is Jimmy Snuka.The Undertaker eliminated Butch and he is now choking the Tornado and The Undertaker is on a role.Valentine is working on The Undertaker and #  14 is the British Bulldog,he goes right for Martel.Tito and Tornado are working on The Undertaker.Shane O'Mac who is the outside official is having an argument with Slick.# 15 is Smash of Demolition.He goes right to Davvey but he comes back and Jake is eliminated by Martel while Martel is on the outside.The Undertaker is battling with the Bulldog and # 16 is Hawk of the Legion of Doom who is on fire but he gets stopped.Hawk and Herc are battling it out,while Tito is pounding on The Undertaker but not for long.Everybody is kind of just scrambling around and # 17 is Shane Douglas!!!He goes for Smash,and Tornado and Snuka are both eliminated. Valentine and Hawk are doing battle and someone is yelling im gonna break your neck.# 18 is well there is not # 18 because no one comes out,to be continued....... Everybody is basicalluj just scrambling around in there.# 19 is Animal of the Legion of Doom!!!He goes right after Smash.The Legion of Dom double clothslined The Undertaker and he went out then Hawk was eliminated from behind.# 20 is Crush of Demolition.Demolition starts pounding on the Bulldog and he gives Smash a dobule arm ddt.There are nine guys in there now.# 21 is Hacksaw Jim Duggan who goes right for Crush.People are just hitting whoever they can in this one.The Faces are even with the heel right now.# 22 is Earthquake!!!He starts battling with Animal but Animal gets eliminated.Everyone is just scrambling around looking for anyone they can hit and # 23 is Mr.Perfect!!!He struts down to ringside but Hacksaw great him when he get in but Perfect eliminates Hacksaw!!!Tito and Valenitine are still in and # 24 is Hulk Hogan!!! He starts pounding on everybody and Smash is out.Hogan goes after Earthquake. Perfect and Bulldog are battling it out and # 25 is Haku.Hogan eliminates The Hammer.Valentine was in there for 45 minutes!!!Every is just going wild since Hogan came in and # 26 is Jim"The Anvil"Neidhart!!!Earthquake eliminated Tito.Hogan is battling with Haku while while Bulldog and Martel are going at it.# 27 is Luke the Bushwhacker and he is in for like 2 seconds before getting throw out by Earthquake!!! Everybody is  just pounding on each other and # 28 is Knobbs of the Nasty Boys, everybody goes after him.# 29 is The Warlord.By the way Herc was eliminated and then Hogan eliminated The Warlord and # 30 is Tugboat,which means # 18 is The Macho King!!!Shane Douglas is eliminated.The numbers game is over and Martel is still in there.The Anvil is battling with Mr.Perfect and Hogan just eliminated Tugboat and there goes Mr.Perfect.The Model eliminated the Anvil,the Bulldog eliminated Haku. The Bulldog eliminated Martel.The Model was out there for close to 53 minutes. Bulldog was eliminated and we are down to Knobbs,Earthquake and Hogan. Earthquake squashes Hogan but he Hulks up and eliminates Knobbs and then a big boot to Earthquake and nails Jimmy Hart and he misses a slam on Earthquake.Two huge elbows by Earthquake.A powerslam but Hogan comes back after Earthquake tries to pin him.Hogan with 3 punches,big boot followed by a body slam and he clothslines Earthquake out.Hogan wins the Royal Rumble,decent Rumble,***3/4.He celebrates after the match.This hits me harder now because of whats going on in our great nation and what we are doing in the Middle East right now.

 

 

Bottom Line:Decent Rumble and a great opener plus Virgil's turn and the most controversial title change of it's time.

Pretty good.  Also right before Virgil threw the belt down, a fan threw his beer at DiBiase and it hit him right in the back and the fan got kicked out.
