Guest Fook_Theta Report post Posted February 22, 2005 Let's just all pray that between now and Mania Batista doesn't tear a quad or something. Who knows what they'd do then. I've called it, this is exactly what I hope happens. Not on a sadistic level for the man's health, but I really want to see the booking/creative/writing get their shit together and do what they did with Stone Cold. If you can make a monster out of a guy without any/much wrestling, then you've got something. Maybe they wouldn't take so many fucking copouts, but then again they have an equal chance of taking more.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 God knows I wouldn't have been able to sleep nights knowing Shawn wasn't going to get his job back from Edge! Maybe I'll be wrong and Angle will appear to cost him the match. EDIT: Referring to the Street Fight next week Yeah, I think that'll happen, actually. I sort of doubt it. WWE seems to be intent on running a major Wrestlemania feud based on no face to face interaction and no direct promos at each other. Come Monday, they'll be over a month into it. Of course, they'll continue occasionally mentioning each others names as sidebars to other promos, just so fans don't totally forget. While, yes, I'm interested in the feud, part of me is really sort of intrigued by this concept. It would be interesting to see if they could continue a total non-feud and still get a hot match. Lol...why have seemingly all your posts been about this one match, and insulting it at that..have they offended you somehow? They don't exactly need constant interaction. Kurt Angle costs HBK a title shot (hell that's enough right there). Kurt Angle then, proceeded to talk trash. This pisses Shawn off. Well, Shawn's got no steady plans for Mania, so, he wants a match, against Kurt Angle, who he's still pissed off with. That simple. Brock/Goldberg didn't exactly have 'spectacular' build up either, but people wanted to see the match (at that time) and WWE made it happen. All they did was, Lesnar costs Goldberg in the RR match. Same thing happened here. And while HBK didn't interfere at No Way Out, ,the two have had more interaction (mainly with the Japan thing) on the Raws and SDs then Lesnar/Goldberg had. And of course you can expect more to still happen. So why is there a need to constantly bash the build up, when it's not like, 'they've had no contact whatsoever'. Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 If anything, I'm not too impressed with Chris Masters. He seems like a shorter version of a HOSS BY GAWD, and is really green. At least he has a full nelson as a finisher. Haven't seen that move in ages. Also, there were two matches where an enziguri was almost no sold.
Guest Stress Truck Report post Posted February 22, 2005 Lol...why have seemingly all your posts been about this one match, and insulting it at that..have they offended you somehow? Mainly, because they got me really interested in the match with a hot angle at Royal Rumble, and then, out of the blue, all but dropped it. There are only two matches I'm really looking forward to this year, this being one, the world title match the other. I feel letdown. They don't exactly need constant interaction They need *some* sort of interaction. If they're building up to a ME level match (this will be second from the top-ish) they should have at least regular interaction. Has either guy even cut a promo completely dedicated to the other yet? Brock/Goldberg didn't exactly have 'spectacular' build up either, but people wanted to see the match (at that time) and WWE made it happen. All they did was, Lesnar costs Goldberg in the RR match. Same thing happened here. The Lesnar/Goldberg feud should be a template for *nothing*. Besides there were outside circumstances that made that buildup so half-assed. And while HBK didn't interfere at No Way Out, ,the two have had more interaction (mainly with the Japan thing)The staredown from the beginning of the month? Was that even on TV? when it's not like, 'they've had no contact whatsoever'. Except, that they've had no contact whatsoever.

tominator89 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 Question: If Angle/HBK have a great match at Wrestlemania, will everyone still be whining about the buildup? Maybe keeping them separate will actually make the match seem more meaningful. Unlike the weekly tag matches which seem to pit everyone against each other. My main issue is who goes over? Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 Except, that they've had no contact whatsoever. I don't believe that's true. For one, if you think back, technically it started at Survivor Series. I forgot the circumstances, but I think Edge said something to Kurt Angle, and he went on about how he could beat HBK on any day of the week. Then of course, what happened, at the RR. And then, in Japan (I forgot about this) but as you mentioned they had a staredown. But yea..that wasn't really in kayfabe nor was it mentioned on TV. I was referring to the interview Shawn Michaels had where Todd/Coach whoever it was, talked about how Kurt Angle was bragging to Japanese magazines about how he costs HBK a shot, that stuff. And HBk tried to act 'pissed' (I guess thats what he was doing..) about it. And of course tonight, he laid down the challenge. Yea, I know it hasn't exactly had Batista/HHH interaction, but then again, you have to think it's harder to try to build a feud with guys on two different shows. (I mean, they're not 'supposed' to just have free range, and run out on the other show when they feel like). Even in the Taker/Kane match Taker never showed up on RAW. Although he did have his little 'signs' but you can't exactly do that with Hbk or Angle. And I think you can expect to see Kurt Angle in the street fight. Seriously, though, is Shawn reading a magazine article or Angle making an offhand comment in November really Mania worthy build up? If all these little things were happening before the Royal Rumble match angle, it would be a good, strong, subtle buildup. But running a hot angle like that at Rumble necessitates some strong follow up. When I say "contact" or "interaction" at the very least, I want them to be cutting promos on each other. I can almost understand Angle not being focussed on HBK, but to have Shawn go the entire month of February without trying to gain some kind of revenge over Angle, to me, that's just inexcusable. I mean, really, storylinewise, what in the hell is he waiting for? Why are there whole weeks at a time when he doesn't even *mention* what happened at the Rumble? Same for Angle? iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 The reason they didn't go too far with the build yet is that Kurt was still involved with the No Way Out tournament, and they didn't want to make it painfully obvious that he wasn't main eventing Wrestlemania. Now that Shawn's officially challenged Kurt, I'm sure it will move along faster. If you think about it, there's really no reason for the Edge/HBK street fight except for Angle to interfere. That will be a big moment for the marks who have kind of forgotten on the feud, and I'm sure at some point, HBK will go to Smackdown to get his revenge on Kurt. The thing to remember is that there are still over 40 days until Wrestlemania. There's no need to have everything absolutely set in stone yet. Also, because I was so excited about Batista last night, I somehow didn't mention the reunion of EDGE AND CHRISTIAN! They were my favorite tag team of all time, and they came back together and had an absolutely awesome match. That was probably the best tag match I've seen on Raw in a long time. Given that they really don't have anywhere to go for Wrestlemania, I'd really like to see Edge and Christian wrestle for the tag titles, maybe even against former champions Benoit and Jericho. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2005 How is it an E and C reunion, when they've wrestled a couple of tag matches in the last few months, one of which ended with Edge attacking Christian ?
