Computer refuses to accept that it has CD drives

Okay, my computer flat out refuses to believe it has any CD drives, except in Device Manager where it will tell me this message:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I have one old CDRW, one CD ROM and one Toshiba DVD Rom, all of which get this message. Yes, I've uninstalled, yes I've tried driver updates. Any ideas?
