Guest Report post Posted May 11, 2002 ***Note:This is LEGITIMATE crying, not "Yeah, i cried last time i watched a Mark Henry match" sorta crying...ya hear...or...read...whatever*** Over the course of wrestling's existence, storylines have made us all smile, laugh and cry. Of course, sometimes the saddest moments in WWF history came out of charecter, not scripted into storylines or angles. Taking this into consideration, has the WWF ever made you legitimately sad, unhappy or even cry? I'll be the first to admit that the Raw Is War following Over The Edge 1999 saw your humble, manly, macho, super tough Taker Mark bawl his eyes out for a solid 2 freakin' hours. What about the rest of you? Ever been in a situation where wrestling has had that affect on you?

Guest papacita Report post Posted May 11, 2002 As much as people make fun of it, HBK's "lost my smile" speech had me in tears. I seriously bought the injury as legit, and the thought of my favorite wrestler going out like that damn near had me in tears. Over the Edge and the next night's Raw. I had to do a research project the night of Over The Edge so I was out for most of the PPV, and I got back home just when they announced that Owen had died. I was just in shock when I heard it and it really didn't set in until the PPV went off and I rewinded the tape to see what had happen. When I hit play, it was the video of his last promo, and at the same time my dad called me from the next room and said "Owen Hart died" and then all of the emotion hit me. Same with the ending to that Raw tribute the next night. I tried to be macho and hold it in but when JR and Lawler started to break down at the end I had tears streaming down my face. Guest Report post Posted May 12, 2002 WWF History Video The Kid Rock one? If so, i was the same, that brought in so many memories and made me feel like i was 12 years old all over again. Just seeing Owen and Bret on the video got me all choked up. This has been the Old School Taker Mark
Guest alfdogg Report post Posted May 12, 2002 I've never actually cried, but the things that were the closest were the Owen Hart stuff and Randy-Liz at WM7.
Guest Report post Posted May 12, 2002 Raw tribute the next night. I tried to be macho and hold it in but when JR and Lawler started to break down at the end I had tears streaming down my face. It was very much the same case at my house. I remember my brother walking out and seeing me, then saying "Its only an act, dont get upset". I seriously snapped and reminded him that Owen Hart actually died, no act, no angle, no nothing. Seriously, i think most of the fans today take wrestlers for granted far too much. Guest Report post Posted May 12, 2002 I remember being brought to near tears during the Owen Hart program. It was mostly the Superstar's comments that affected me in that way. Going through this thread reminds me off that night. I actually missed "Over the Edge," I wen to go see "Star Wars: Episode 1." When I got back my mother told me that someone was hurt, I assumed it was a work or a real problem. Later that night, I was shocked when I turned on MSNBC, and on one of the captions, it read, "Professional Wrestler Owen Hart dies at age 35" (I don't know his age, but I made one up.) The whole day I wondered about how RAW was going to be played out. God rest your soul, Owen!
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 12, 2002 The Macho/Liz thing got me misty eyed...didn't cry though...same with Hacksaw's cancer speach. I didn't see Over the Edge, so I didn't know till RAW (wasn't on the net)...and while I managed not to cry most of the show, mostly just choked up, but the part where Lawler was saying "tell your family you love them cause you might not get the chance to later" (or something to that extent)...then his voice cracks while he's saying it...I know I cried after that. Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted May 12, 2002 Hacksaw's speech had everyone cryign including myself. Owen's raw made me cry as did Brian Pillman's. What made me cry the most is hearing Lillian sing the national anthem on the Smackdown! after 9/11. Very moving performance.

Guest Report post Posted May 13, 2002 I was okay as the Owen Hart tribute started, until the Jeff Jarrett match, when he said, "This one's for the record. Owen Hart was never a nugget!" When he said that, all the "macho" reserve that I had built up just fell apart.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted May 13, 2002 RAW is OWEN The first WWF Desire video(don't ask me why, it just did) The WWF History Video Flair's return to Nitro in 98 The end of the Sting/Flair match on the last Nitro(when they hugged, I completely lost it). Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 13, 2002 Even as someone who's only been watching for a little over a year, the WWF History Video didn't cause me to cry, but sent shivers up my spine. Even though I didn't know most of the clips, it was that powerful. Everything else I've seen has been typical maudlin melodrama, although I know if I'd have been watching at around the time of Owen that I'd have been bawling as well. It's still such a sad tragedy (a bit redundant, but fitting).
Guest Report post Posted May 13, 2002 I didn't start watching wrestling until late '99, so I wasn't around to see most of the stuff that's been mentioned here. However, I was moved watching the final Nitro, and seeing Flair and Sting embrace. You didn't have to be around for all those years of history to understand and appreciate a genuine, emotional moment.

Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted May 13, 2002 Like everyone else Raw is Owen. But, another time I was close was when Randy Anderson (?) Was fired by Bischoff right in front of his kids and he just looked so heartbroken. I was 12 or so, and had no idea it was fake. I hated that bastard. Plus the fact that he just recently died, makes me teary recalling that.

Guest Jericholic82 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 As much as people make fun of it, HBK's "lost my smile" speech had me in tears. I seriously bought the injury as legit, and the thought of my favorite wrestler going out like that damn near had me in tears. Don't be mad, I also was upset by that. I was upset when Shawn "passed out" on RAW in the match with Owen. They had a video for Shawn and I thought his career was over (what a mark). Of course Owen. I had been doing homework (yes on a sunday) and had not ordered the show. I went online to see the live updates and it said that Owen died. I was in shock to say the least. I didn't sleep that night. Me and my friends wore armbands for a couple of days (though the teachers didn't understand that). Of course the begginning of raw got me in tears, then the wrestlers tributes to him and JJ doing the sharpshooter . On nitro the next night Benoit and Piper and Malenko were wearing the armbands (only ones who were), You can tell by benoit's face how sad he was and that made me sad. Another time was when Bret fought Benoit in the owen tribute match in the same arena Owen dide. I have it on tape from the best of nitro and after the match, Bret looks up and salutes the sky, the two men embarce and I lost it. Btw, the Foley tribute video the night after NWO 2000 had me choked up, it still does when I watch it. all the desire videos get me. as well as the legends attitude promo from 98 with monsoon, blassie, ladd, patterson and others. when ladd waved to an empty arena, I cried like a baby. "I can still hear the echos cheering my name" monsoon "but today" blassie" i cheer for them" Pillman of course. I remember loggin onto the wcw website and seeing a picture of him posted that said he died. That really got me. I sent a long emotional letter to the email the wwf set up for the fans. In eleventh grade, I did my research project on Pillman and got a A. It is one of my proudest accomplishments. I got my english teacher to respect a man he had never heard of and he gained a new respect for wrestling. During the project is when Owen died, so I added a tribute to him as well. In June, I did my spanish class reasearch paper on OWEN (it was for us to learn how to write an essay or paper in spanish) and it was a short, but good overview of his career. Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Something else that gets to me sometimes is the Austin "Desire" video. Especially in the end when Austin is staggering around after Owen had dropped him on his head. It was such a moving image of what he went through to become what he has. Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted May 16, 2002 Right at the end of Raw is Owen, when Austin toasted his beer to Owen, I teared up. The video for Andre when he died made me cry. I was a kid during the Ron Bass/ Brutus Beefcake assault in 88, and was freaked out to the brink of tears.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted May 16, 2002 1. Watching the Owen Tribute on Raw. 2. The first Desire video by Creed (I don't remember when it was, but it was the short one.) 3. Watching the clips of HHH at Dr. Andrews having surgery (I really didn't cry, but I got a little tear eyed on how depressing it was when he got hurt.) I really can't think of anything else.
