Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 13, 2002 So I was just reading over the boards, thinking about the fed and stuff, and I realized that I was somewhat concerned. Lately interest in the WF seems to be waning fairly big-time. The PPV didn't even have 20 comments, and none of the last three regular shows have even reached 10 comments. I know this issue/complaint/whatever comes up every now and then, but it still bothers me. We're busting our asses here writing thousands of words and making fun storylines, but if nobody's reading them, what's the point? Now, the shows themself get a lot of views--people are definitely reading them, or at least looking at the results. So we all know what's happening--but why not talk about it more? I look at the JL and see comment threads with over 60 replies (many of which are argument, but at least they're drumming up interest), cards that get onto two pages, just a whole lot of feedback. Feedback. I think that's what I want to stress. What does everyone think of the stuff going on in the fed? Do you like it? Would you do some of it differently? Are there spots in people's matches you particularly marked out for? Stuff you didn't believe? Anything, really. I just hate coming back to the boards every few hours and seeing zero new posts in the WF board, while Community and JL-town are thriving. And this doesn't go to just WFers, either. I know everyone's busy with their own league, but hey, everybody can read and talk about everything. I don't exonerate myself from slacking off--I do it too. I like to think that it's just a busy time, with all the student-types having finals and everyone else just being busy, but it's disheartening. Everyone seems to be doing pretty well, but no one seems to be talking about it. Thoughts? Conflicting views? Desires to hit me with pie/Heineken? Go for it. Guest chirs3 Report post Posted May 13, 2002 You can have my beers or my ears, not both. Choose. I don't usually comment, and I know I should, but the problem is... Unless I'm very lucky, I have to wait for a block of free time hours (occasionally days) after a show before I can read it. Take, for example, last Storm. Due to cable-internet death and packing up for my move to U-tah, I didn't get to see the show until last night, much less read all of it (I'm gonna finish it tonight). And my cable modem dies frequently (though usually in short bursts), so when I finish a show it's usually been commented on quite well. I wouldn't have much to add except "SHOW GOOD!" or "SHOW BAD..." That said, I AM digging what's going on at the moment. Bo/Thugg and the n00b domination in particular. Guest Beingz0wningj00 Report post Posted May 13, 2002 I hella agree. Thugg has his biggest threat yet, two of the top fighters around. And if you looked at the champion's thread, he had topped his old reign, and has held the WF title for more days then Fallout with the LHW.
Guest BA_Baracus Report post Posted May 13, 2002 PROMO (Stubby P. McWeed); "Completely agree. I've been ranting on this for the last month or two. If you want to see an angier, more threat and profanity filled response to this problem, check out my reply to the latest Storm replies thread. Bottomline... If you don't care what happens in the league, I don't see why you're even participating. I don't see what's so fucking hard about taking 2 minutes to type up some type of response to the show. If this doesn't improve I'm going to start handing out punishments to people who never respond to the shows... Mothernature says, grrr..."
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 13, 2002 Kind of ironic that this thread itself only gets 3 replies. ::shrug::
Guest HVilleThugg Report post Posted May 13, 2002 I completely agree Edwin! We’ve been talking about this for a while. I didn’t comment on Storm, but that’s because I haven’t read it because I’ve been on the road since Saturday morning, only to get back last night. I intend to read Storm when I’m done my match for Smarkdown, hopefully in a few hours. Anyway, come on people! Comment, please! Edwin, Bo, and myself have been busting our asses to put together a tight main event angle, yet it seems no one is interested. What’s the point of the countless hours brainstorming, writing and such if no one cares. It’s rather disheartening, and it makes me question whether all of this is worth it. Also, the noobs have been working hard and dominating recently, yet no one notices. {sigh} Da “going back to writing a match no one will read…and just realizes he has given away one surprise for Smarkdown” H
Guest Muzz Report post Posted May 13, 2002 Yes, post more comments or die. Really, you don't have to say more than that.
Guest Insane Clown Dan Report post Posted May 13, 2002 Hrm... 'tis a shame that people don't really seem to care for some reason. There are some other factors that might tie into the little reader response that WF shows get, though. We need to get the actual attention of other Smarksboarders. The OAOAST e-fedders seem to be very active, and could bring in more excitement and views... but it's not very likely that they'll merge. Just IMO, of course. But it seems like they got a lot of energy to 'em. As for comment threads, I was thinking that maybe we should start some new form of reader response, where someone would post a descriptive text about the WF/JL and what's been going on, with each show if somebody could take the time to do so, and actually ask people for suggestions on what certain characters should do, and what they liked about the matches or the characters. Think of WWE Excess, except with taking suggestions from the fans. Hell, if someone could do an in-depth view into the feds each show, that would be awesome (and it would help strangers who are out of the loop). That is, if anybody thinks it could be a help. If not... I'll just crawl back under a rock and blow my brains out =P
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 13, 2002 Yeah, we've talked to Anglesault a bit, actually. They seem pretty happy with what they're doing, and none of them seem too eager to write long matches. I am thinking about strolling over there and showing them some of the goofiest highlights, like POOFNAR and G0R0 and see if that piques their interest. Actually, I just might make another post for the main WWF board, too.
Guest HVilleThugg Report post Posted May 13, 2002 No shock value??? Well, I’m sorry but the angle going between myself, Edwin, Stubby, Bo, and Rotten has been nothing short of stellar. No one’s paying attention, so they’re gonna miss the shockers. *sigh* Why do I even bother? Da “frustrated” H
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 13, 2002 Yeah, I'll second Thugg's endorsement. Read tonight's show, at least. A lot is about to go down. And if anyone hasn't read the tag matches that have been going on since Defiance, you really should--they're probably the best series of tag encounters we've had in a very long time. As for the PPV...well, if you don't read that, you'll probably be totally lost. Mwa ha ha...
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted May 13, 2002 I rarely say something to the fed, but here it goes. Most people here are lazy fucks, who just don't give to flying farts about whats going on in the WF. I do read the shows, but i haven't had the time to comment on them though. Guest Report post Posted May 13, 2002 This morning, I typed up a post but I guess I forgot to send it... Do I read the WF shows? Yes. Do I comment? Rarely. Why? Because anything I am going to say has probably been said by Edwin, Thugg, Stubby or the other TWO people who comment. I would only be cluttering the board with mere echoes of your respected peers. Sure it's nice to know that people read the stuff but I only choose to comment on special events. In the SJL, I know just about everyone there. From their posts to their matches, I have a better sense of who they are and came a little more about who wins. I've been skimming through the pages of these boards to pick up on the history (which I recommend to anyone who hasn't because it's some good stuff) and it’s really a good story. Also, the not writing your matches rates have risen up a bit but the JL still feels more competitive. In the SWF, half the time all those BIG matches and upsets are when the opponent doesn't even write. I prefer the SJL because I'm directly involved and everything there effects me even if just a little bit. The SJL thrives because many are involved and most care. In the WF, there aren't as many. Maybe if more guys from the SWF (not counting the match markers) commented on SJL shows and promos more SJL guys would comment on their shows.
Guest Insanityman Report post Posted May 13, 2002 They're right. I don't see why you are in this federation (even if you just like the writing part not the read and follow) if you don't at least TRY to read the shows. I agree with everyone who's pushed the idea for comments. Even a comment on at least two matches on the card is cool! Read the results (which I do no matter if I comment or not). It would suck to win and not be commented or work your ass off and have everybody just sitting around picking at their asses! Hell you could even fake it, I'll post the results and comments that I think is pass what may expect. "TAG TEAM TITLES MATCH Chris Raynor & El Luchadore Magnifico © vs. Jay Dawg & Sacred - New champs ahoy! SINGLES MATCH Edwin MacPhisto vs. Fallout - Edwin gets the W (read that match for some Pound and Carnie-a-licious interference). GAUNTLET MATCH FOR THE HARDCORE TITLE Stryke © vs. 1) Lady Red, 2) Munich, 3) Longdogger Pete - Stryke retains. NON-TITLE SINGLES MATCH Erek Taylor vs. Thoth - Erek Taylor with another huge upset! SWF HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH Hville Thugg © vs. Johnny Rotten - Somebody wins after interference from yours truly, Edwin and Perfect Bo." It could go like this, "Kudos to the new champs, didn't read the hardcore match. Edwin continues to own, and Erek gets another huge upset... damn. Didn't see that ending coming..." Okay, I read most of Storm, and if I didn't you could just post comments on the result. Exit out of the porn (only for a second), drop the pornolize.com for a second, and post at least a "I lost, damn... kudos to everyone -insert one in depth comment-." comment. Guest Longdogger_Pete Report post Posted May 13, 2002 All right, I'll bite. The Thugg/Bo angle has been awesome, and Bo's main event push has been a long time coming. Now if only I could get through one of their promos without fuckin' gettin' hung up on this dope ghetto-bonic fuckin' lingo shiznit, dog. Da Pound owns all. Yikes. Looks like some other stables need to start stepping back up to the plate. Newbies with titles? Stryke's impressive as a fighting Hardcore champion (even if most of his wins are by default) and Erek Taylor's LHW title win and recent upsets (ELM? Thoth?!) are nothing short of astounding. One last piece of bid'ness. I'm taking a break from match writing for now. I've been suffering from a severe case of writers' block in the last few weeks, so I'm taking some time off. In the meantime, I'm still lurking around the boards and will continue to update rankings and histories and mark matches for the SJL. That's all the comments I have for today. Guest HVilleThugg Report post Posted May 13, 2002 You know, that’s a damn good point there Scott. I know that I do read the JL shows, but only comment sometimes. I think the WFers should be interested and read the JL shows because they are doing very well right now. Also, it’ll give you an idea of who’s up and coming and such. Like, how many WFers know that Ash Ketchum finally won the world title, or that Tom Flesher is the newest hot talent in the JL? The point Scott makes is a good one…if we read the JL shows, they may be more inclined to pay more attention. Although, the JL isn’t hurting for comments on their shows. My thing is that there are 17 people in the WF, and we can’t even get 10 responses. And in most cases, it’s the same 4-5 people commenting with a Crusen and/or King thrown in there with a JLer. The point is, that with 17 people, we should be able to get at least 10 different people commenting, if not, 17. Da “comment dammit!” H
Guest Report post Posted May 13, 2002 You know Thugg, I like to see guys coming from the WF and hanging around in "JL Town" to comment on a few shows even if it is just the markers. When Grand Slam threw out his two cents and bits of advice, I listened and I'm sure others did as well. I love seeing WFers coming and saying, 'Hey that Scott kid is kinda good' after a promo or match. I loved it on the thread I made (with my screening match and introduction) and I still do. I, or we, look up to the WFers and hearing their praise means something... at least it does to me. Well I'm off to finish my match...
Guest BA_Baracus Report post Posted May 13, 2002 PROMO (Stubby P. McWeed); "Meh...doesn't seem like anyone's listening. I know you people are out there though!
