Time for some Undertaker bashing

Recommended Posts

Guest Vern Gagne

Get this man off my TV. He's no different has a heel, except he gets to fued with the Rock, and kick his ass every week. He's not helping any of the midcard guys, except maybe Maven, who belongs in HWA or OVW.

Not going to happen.  It's the Undertaker so obviously he'll be around for a little while longer.  I wonder how he will fit into the whole nWo thing?

The Undertaker is the Sting of the WWF.  Never jumped despite what I'm sure are many opportunities. (and yes, I know he was in the NWA briefly before becoming the Undertaker, but I don't count that.)  As a result the WWF is more than happy to keep him around as long as he feels he can do it.

And he's adjusted his style over the years, to accomodate his deteriorating body.  No more walking on the rope or flying over the ropes.  He's sticking to brawling and power, which much better suited to an older wrestler.

As far as feuding with the Rock, I was wondering... have Taker and Rock ever feuded before?  I can't recall if they have.

They have feuded back in 99 I think.  I seem to remember the Rock cutting a promo about the Taker's 33 pound head rolling down his back and then up his ass.

The Undertaker is NOT a company man for not jumping. I love how people have played it up that way. Truth is, the man is NOTHING without his gimmick and it was copyrighted in the WWF, so his career would have self-destructed in WCW. I think that's a no-brainer.

Weren't Rock and Taker both heels for most of 99?  I think by the time Rock had turned full face, Taker was injured.  I know they were both in the HITC match at Armageddon 2000 (which may be the promo you're thinking of), but I honestly can't recall another PPV meeting between the two.

I agree with Loss. Taker is nothing with his gimmcik. I wonder what WCW would of called him had he jumped. I could see them trying to do a Taker rip-off only to have Vinc sue like he did with "The Boss".

No, Rock and Undertaker did feud in 1999, I think they wrestled at KOTR that year, but I'm not for 100 percent certain of it.

The Rock & Taker did wrestle at KOTR '99. HHH cost The Rock the match setting up their match at Fully Loaded '99.

The Rock was a face by KOTR.

I don't mind The Undertaker as much as many right now.  I feel that as a heel, with the whole "I Want Respect" thing, he can go another year or so.  But after that, I hope he realizes that it's time to step down.  Maybe he'll even be a team player and job to a young guy at Wrestlemania (would be Undertaker's first WM loss).

But on a side note, I do wish he would stop cutting promos.  The one last night was God awful.  Even saying "Kick yo ass."

How could you forget the Rock-Undertaker feud of '99?  The image of Paul Bearer being crucified on a brahma bull symbol is forever etched in my mind.  Frankly--and I know I run the risk of having my Smark Card permanently revoked--I think the Undertaker has finally found the role he was born to play.  And he's playing it well.  The fact that he can't wrestle worth a damn anymore is the only complaint I have with him.

I agree about the promo Taker cut last night was bad. Did he really call the crowd "hillbilles"? I guess he hasn't looked at a mirror.

I'd classify Undertaker as more of a redneck than a hillbilly.  There IS a difference, I assure you.  The promo last night went fine for a little while.  The fans popped for his entrance, but he got them to boo him quickly and that's commendable.  But after about a minute and a half, he got completely side-tracked and just struggled through the rest of it until the segment crawled to a merciful death.  I'd honestly have to consider myself a fan of Taker's mic work, more often than not.

I don't know that even that would help.  It's the same thing as with Austin last year: The fans have been completely brainwashed into cheering for him regardless of what he does, and no steps taken by the WWF are going to change that.  So even after having his music changed and doing everything imaginable to make the fans hate him, Austin still got a better face pop than the majority of the roster.

I don't think fans would pop for Taker like they did Austin. I belive Taker can work as a heel, but it would be better if they took away his music & motorcycle.

'Taker was over as a heel in '98 and '99 as the Satantaker, the audience sure wasn't cheering him then.  I also think he'd get cheered a lot less if he walked out to different music.

He should return to the orginal Undertaker gimmick.  Even go as far as sticking opponents into body bags after beating them.

I don't mind him. I think his ego's a little in check moreso backstage. He busts his ass. Sure he's not that athletic, but he puts in an effort rather than air-mailing and depending on his status to keep him in good view. I'd still have kept him a face and let Jericho retire him.

I dont mind UT in the position he is in now.  He's still in the top teir of talent, but not close to main eventing any PPVs soon.  You also have to give him his due for actually hustling out there and not living off of his name.  I know 3 fossils in black t-shirts that won't do the same.

Ya when that happened I was thinkin what that thing was made of. I don't know cause it looked like cardbaord I think but it was strong cause it picked that fatass who got like 500 pounds on his bones.

Man how can any one say UnderTaker's intervue was bad. You don't give reasons why you just say it is bad. You are just hatin is how I feel on this. What is wrong with tellin Rick that he will kick you ass???? That was the best part.
