Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted May 18, 2002 I considered WHO killed him more of the twist then the fact that he died, but yeah that was pretty Twisty and the movie I was thinking of was the 1985 version of Invaders from Mars
Guest Hayabusa Moleman Report post Posted May 19, 2002 I saw Sleepaway Camp a long long time ago and yeah, that was disturbing and freaky as hell. It stills burns in my mind. Anyway, at the time, I was too freaked out at this little freak's cock on the screen and desperately searched for the remote to forward it. Anyway, I was never sure, but was that a real guy, or some chick with a hotdog or something between her legs? I'd go rent it and check it out for myself, but I am still scared of that movie. <whistling> back to the psychiatrist for me.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted May 19, 2002 It was a male actors body, with Angela's head imposed on it. You can actually see the male actor taking his shirt off in the bleachers during the scene with Angela and Paul. Pretty funny that I brought Sleepaway up in this thread, since last night a bunch of me and my sisters friends stayed here for a prom "after party" and everyone wanted to watch something freaky, so Sleepaway made it's way into the DVD player. Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted May 20, 2002 My favorite Twists are The Usual Suspects, Empire Strikes Back(my favorite of all the Star Wars movies, still) Se7en, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers(1978) to be honest I didn't think donald Sutherland's character was going to become one of the aliens. Guest franchise632 Report post Posted May 20, 2002 One movie with a kind of suprising ending to me was "Along Came a Spider" atleast it came as a suprise to me. But it was really good. Usual Suspects was a great ending, it took me quite a while to see it, and it easily became one of my favorite movies.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted May 20, 2002 Yeah, Body Snatchers '78 was good. Some of the best twists are the ones that happen right at the end, because there isn't anymore movie after it to wear the shock (if there is any) down. And to all those who have been bringing up Usual Suspects, thank you for not saying what the ending is (although I suspect Golddust gave away part of it, correct me if I'm wrong) because I haven't seen it yet, but I'm heading up to Blockbuster to rent the SE DVD as soon as possible
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted May 22, 2002 The end of Arlington Road had me cheering. People in the hallway were asking me what I was cheering for and after I told them they gave me a what the fuck look. I love when the heel wins. Sleepaway Camp rules all. My one friend and I usually go about 2 or 3 days before making an "It's a boy" followed by a hiss reference.
Guest Mole Report post Posted May 22, 2002 The Others had the BEST ending, I had no idea that would happen.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 22, 2002 The Others had the misfortune of coming out after such a similar movie in The Sixth Sense. It wasn't a ripoff (it was already in production when 6th Sense came out), but lots of people thought it was, even though I liked Others better of the two. This actually happened before, when a little flick called The Last Broadcast that happened to come out right after Blair Witch Project. Like BWP, Last Broadcast was a fake documentary about some mysterious killings in the woods. However, the order was actually lucky this time, since Last Broadcast was a really terrible movie, and deserved to be ignored.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted May 22, 2002 The Usual Suspects is the best one ever IMO. I just watched Vanilla Sky last night, and that movie has a really cool twist ending.

Guest converge241 Report post Posted May 31, 2002 was i the only person who was shocked when kevin spacey was murderd at the end of american beauty. even though he said he was going to die at the beginning i wasn't expecting that ending. well he says hes going to die @ the beginning originally wes bentley was supposed to kill him, but i think they realized that was a little cliche. The Others had the BEST ending, I had no idea that would happen this one was cool but unfortunately i figured it out before i saw it. i thought the preview just totally gave it away and the ads kept talking about "the great twist" so when you see that you have to say "ok, i have to look at the opposite of ehat it should be". the preview has the daughte saying "but i am your daughter". so right away my thought was "oh, shes possessed". but then the print ads came out and i immedietly surmised that they were the ghosts. Im not saying that makes me smart for knowing or anyone stupid for not, they just should have kept the idea that there was a twist on the QT
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I haven't seen it in a while, how would it be cliché?
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Howling 1 and 5 had pretty cool twists, but 5 was one you could kinda see coming if you actually look for the twist and have really good short term memory
Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 3, 2002 I haven't seen it in a while, how would it be cliché? cliche only in the way that that idea was such a "hot button" topic in the news for a while. people getting their boyfirneds/girlfriends to kill their partners/parents. the director didnt like it either.. Guest converge241 Report post Posted June 3, 2002 3. primal fear (havent seen it listed?why?that was a shocking ending) this one was especially great in the arlington road vein, in the way that the previews of both kind of had that feeling of another "ho-hum" typical genre movie. Im so glad i watched both when they premiered on cable. great stuff.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted June 3, 2002 Fight Club and the sixth sense were both hyped as having twist endings so I figured them out quite early, same with the Usual suspects though that took a little longer. The ones that totally got me when I saw them on TV when I was a kid were. The Wicker man - I was not expecting that and even after he was on his way I expected the police to arrive to save him. Les Diaboliques - couldn't have a bath for weeks afterwards, it's been stolen for every movie from Halloween to fatal Attraction, but when it happened in this film I'd never seen it and my brain shut down and I started freaking out. Just because everything else had been relatively normal up till that point. Those two got me big style and I think probably made me blase.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted June 3, 2002 The Others had the misfortune of coming out after such a similar movie in The Sixth Sense. It wasn't a ripoff (it was already in production when 6th Sense came out), but lots of people thought it was, even though I liked Others better of the two. *SPOILERS FOR THE OTHERS* I just finished watching The Others, and yeah, I pretty much figured out who the ghosts were and who the intruders were, unfortunately because The Sixth Sense had already planted the idea in my mind AND because everyone kept talking about the "great twist ending". I too thought The Others was better. However, I'm pretty happy that I managed to avoid any spoilers for The Others before watching it. Both The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were ruined for me before I saw them, so while watching it, I was "looking" for the clues.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted June 3, 2002 I will say this for The Others: it had almost a three-part twist ending. First there was the true nature of the servents, which I had already figured out. Then there was the true nature of the family, which I'd been somewhat suspicious of. And finally there was the true nature of the "ghosts" haunting the house, which was something that completely shocked me, I didn't see it coming at all. Guest areacode212 Report post Posted June 4, 2002 ** MORE THE OTHERS SPOILERS ** For me it was in reverse. Once the thought struck me that Nicole & her kids may in fact be dead, I thought, "well, who else would be haunting dead people, but the living?", so I actually wasn't all that surprised at the end. I was actually pretty relieved when I saw them sitting around the seance table because that part was getting to be PRETTY FUCKING SCARY (yeah, I know, I'm a pansy when it comes to these things) and I was happy to see a brightly-lit room. But for some reason, it didn't register to me that the three servants may have been ghosts, which is odd because it was really obvious. When Nicole Kidman picked up that photograph that showed their dead bodies, I got all goosebumpy, which almost never happens to me when I watch scary movies. ::shudder::

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 The Ring, that was just awesome. A lot of episodes of the Outer Limits from the late 90s series had some great twist endings also.
Guest PlatinumBoy Report post Posted September 18, 2004 The Sting has a great "twist" ending, because... Spoilers.... I know people who thought Redford actually sold Neuman out to the FBI. Also it's a great ending as well, as everything comes through great and they totally fuck over the badguy. Plus Neuman and Redford rock.
Guest Smues Report post Posted September 18, 2004 The problem with The Ring is they advertised it as having a surprise twist shocking ending. I guessed it correctly just from the previews, so I had no interest in watching the movie. I really wish movies would just let the twist happen, instead of saying SEE IT FOR THE TWIST!
