Guest Report post Posted May 14, 2002 Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash are among a number of wrestlers upset with recent payoffs by WWE. On the plane ride home from Europe, Nash cornered Jim Ross (who is ostensibly in charge of payoffs) and told him he wasn't happy with recent checks. At Raw last Monday, Hogan told Vince McMahon that his payoffs were unacceptable. WWE stopped releasing attendance and gate figures to media and wrestlers, which has made it difficult for wrestlers to figure out whether they are getting consistent or fair percentages of revenues. HWA sources report that April Hunter and Daffney Unger did not impress WWE officials with their wrestling ability at the tryout camp. However, the company is said to be high on the appearances of both women. WWE sources expect Daffney to be offered a deal, in part because her husband plays in Chris Jericho's band, Fozzy. Bobby Rude and Tough Enough Josh impressed WWE officials at the tryout camp. Rude is a Canadian wrestler who Kevin Kelly is high on. Kelly recommended Rude for the ECW Super Eight tournament earlier this year, which Rude did take part in. Tom Prichard is being paid to book an upcoming WWA New England event. Sgt. Slaughter is expected to attend the show with Prichard. Sources report that after failing a physical several weeks ago, Scott Steiner passed a second physical shortly after winning the World Wrestling All-Stars Title. While this opens the door for Steiner to sign with WWE, friends say he is most likely to sign with the Jarrett promotion due to the lighter schedule. The main reason Bubba Ray Dudley dropped the Hardcore Title to Steven Richards is that Bubba was unable to appear on the overseas tour due to a family emergency. Sources report that Bubba's mother was seriously ill, but that she has improved in recent days. EZ Money (aka Jason Jett) has heat in developmental circles for his reluctance to change his in-ring style. Raven suffered an injury recently to his face when he took a stiff boot to the face. He did not appear on the European tour, but he wasn't scheduled in the first place due to announcing duties. He will be ready to return to the ring in about a week. What has he done since being in the WWF? They need to fire his ass asap.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted May 14, 2002 EZ Money (aka Jason Jett) has heat in developmental circles for his reluctance to change his in-ring style. Translation: They want him to slow down & be more punchy/kicky. They got a guy w/ a flashy style who can excite the crowd, and they want him to be just another generic worker. *sigh*
Guest What?! Report post Posted May 14, 2002 Nash wants more pay for what?! He hasn't done anything since he's been there!!! I wished X-Pac was drunk and mistakenly mistook Kevin Nash as Michael Hayes on the airplane.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted May 14, 2002 i'm not surprised that a number of wrestlers would be pissed about this. even if i was a lazy bitch with no talent, if i was getting less money than i was promised i'd have every right to be pissed. and i can sort of understand why vince would stop releasing attendance numbers to media, but why would you stop telling your own employees? so they don't know whether or not they're being screwed? This is what disturbs me. Like godthedog said, why not release those figures to your employees?
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted May 14, 2002 Since they're a publicly owned and traded company, don't they have to release that info to their stockholders? I mean, all companies have to provide a pretty detailed earnings report.

I mean, all companies have to provide a pretty detailed earnings report. I think they put that out in their quarterly earnings report. But I guess the point is that WWF used to release those figures on a more regular basis.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted May 14, 2002 It's only a matter of time before they start cutting the roster again. And you know who they'll blame? Jericho

Guest buffybeast Report post Posted May 14, 2002 It's only a matter of time before they start cutting the roster again. And you know who they'll blame? Jericho I think it is coming. I think WWF has held on to so many people because they did not want another company to use them. But if revenues/earnings continue to dip, I can see them cutting guys like the Godfather and Crash. Relax, Buffy! I won't go off on an Albert tangent. But I will say that I see other guys like Godfather or some of the smaller former WCW guys getting the axe before Albert. JR is very high on him cuz he's a hoss (and a damn sexy one at that!).

That's very mature of you actually. My only thing was based on talent. I have never seen tubby put on a good match or even something REMOTELY watchable. I don't think that even if you find tubby sexy he should be infecting my TV screen. Example: I find Steph sexy as hell at times, but I am goddamn GLAD she is not on the fucking TV every week anymore. And yes: Godfather sucks. However a lot of those former WCW guys in my opinion have way more talent than Albert. But whatever. If you're high on Matt Bloom, that's your thing. Guest Report post Posted May 14, 2002 Maybe we can take a collection and we'll save up money for WWE wrestlers. "Just 50 cents a day can feed a Wrestler!" Poor little guys. (Sniff)

Translation: They want him to slow down & be more punchy/kicky. They got a guy w/ a flashy style who can excite the crowd, and they want him to be just another generic worker. *sigh* I took it to mean that the WWE doesn't like him because he's somewhat old, a little too big to be a cruiserweight and he doesn't have a good look. So they are looking for excuses to release him during the next round of cuts. And who needs flashy offense anyways. It's not like that RVD has gotten over or sold any merchandise or anything like that... I don't know what was funnier. Nash and Hogan complaining about pay when they came into the company and leapfrogged 99.9% of the wrestlers in guaranteed salary. Or the Torch trying to imply that Daffney was going to get a roster spot because of her "connection" to Jericho. I believe Nash has actually wrestled on one house show since he returned. All the rest he just walked out to the ring with Scott Hall. I guess he felt he deserved main event money for standing outside the ring and flipping his hair. Why not? Vince promised him the same payoff as Austin and Hall for Mania. And the WWE has gone in almost a complete tailspin since Hogan got the belt. His name means nothing now as far selling tickets or getting pay per view buys. And I can just hear that conversation about Daffney. "Uh, Chris-uh Vince said no-uh to your demand for a raise-uh. But he'll sign your-uh bandmate's girlfriend to uh developmental contract to-uh call it even. Now, how about you take uh pedigree through the cage-uh and onto uh table-uh set up in the ring?" (add in smirk to get the full effect)
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 14, 2002 Nash is the last guy who should be bitching about the payoffs. Guys who consistently bust their ass should be pissed, but they won't speak up because they don't have the same leverage as Nash does.

Guys who consistently bust their ass should be pissed, but they won't speak up because they don't have the same leverage as Nash does. That would imply that the WWE gives anyone the match time required to bust thier ass, which obviously isn't the case.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 You all just *think* you want layoffs. But guys like Bossman and Rikishi are going nowhere. The first person they'd layoff is Lance Storm. Than anyone else who they don't think is worth anything. He's not a hoss. Push Bradshaw...not Christian.
