Handicap matches

Recommended Posts

Guest converge241

Has there ever been a good one?

and now we get two on the same night? almost a year to the day of the last double-shot of handicap matches (Kane vs HHH/Show   and Rock vs somebody/somebody) to boot.

and we have to have two at the pay per view? Heyman or no Heyman thats a handicap match. whats the fascination? i could see one once in a great while but thats enough..they are always bad and everybody comes out weak.

As someone pointed out in the Raw thread, the WWE might take this opportunity at Judgment Day to unveil a new guy in Heyman's place, and the jump-off point for a new stable. Of course, given the direction the WWF (yes, I know I called it the WWE a moment ago) is going, it probably will be Heyman in the tag match.

In agreement. These ALWAYS suck and i've noticed that they kill the crowd heat as well.

I mean, matches that smarks think suck have crowd heat so that's okay, but handicap matches always seemed worthless on both ends to me.

Cage matches are 1000 times more interesting than handicap matches which can only have one of two unsatisfying finishes. I think out of the three or four possible cage match finishes, at least 2 have some drama and excitement possible.

I agree Handicap matches suck. There is no flow to them at all. Take for instance last night, Bradshaw gets pounded the whole match, so whenever he gets his little flurry in the Pac and Show sell it like he's got a block of cement in his boot when he kicks them. Everyone knows that NWO will win, so it's boring. And if the face somehow wins it comes off as lame. I say in place of handicap matches just have a big backstage beatdown instead. It accomplishes the same thing and we don't have to sit through a crap match.

In 2000 with Rock I remember them being pretty entertaining cause Rock knew when to cue the comebacks,

At least different people are in the handicap matches now.  Back in 2000 and 2001 it was always Rock vs. 2 Heels.

You forgot to add Jericho. It seemed like he had a handicapped match every other week against the Dudleys or Show/another unover midcarder.

Handicap matches also suck because.......

If the Face wins then he or she just made two heels look like bumbling idiots for not being able to beat one person. The heels are then buried in the process

If the heels win then there's very little surprise and excitement involved...........either way the end result of a handicap match sucks

Also, I hate handicap matches in No Mercy for the N64. Road Dogg and X-Pac are full fledged uber bitches to defeat in the career modes. I have nightmares of X-Pac getting to his feet just in time to break up my hard earned pin on Road Dogg.

The official matches of 2000 were Rock vs. Road Dogg and X-Pac or Jericho vs. Road Dogg and X-Pac
