Who's got the best entrance music?

Recommended Posts

Guest

Note, of course, that these are all my OPINIONS. Feel free to disagree.

RAW, in no particular order:

Booker T: This is the same music he had in WCW, right? Or at least a minor remix of it. Anyway, I like it, it's got a nice pseudo-hip hop feel and seems to fit him well, and it gives the fans something to dance to if they want (as much as you can dance in an auditorium seat). RATING: ***

Goldust: Mostly as background to his extraordinarily overblown ring entrance; forgettable. *1/2

D'Lo: Okay, so I'm listening to WWF Music vol. 3 as I type this. :P This is one of those rare WWF themes that isn't a bunch of repetitive guitar chords. And it has LYRICS~! Nice and edgy. ***1/2

Austin: Amazing how much difference some breaking glass can make. The glass makes a good backbone for the whole theme, which is nice and catchy. ****

nWo: I can't help but thinking that there's some in-joke in this music that I'm not getting. What the heck does "Fname Fname" mean anyway? Otherwise fairly forgettable.**1/2

Ric Flair: Absolutely classic. And it's PUBLIC DOMAIN~! Incidentally, the name of this piece is "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (German for "Thus Spake Zarathustra" and the title of a book by Friedrich Nietzsche), and the composer was Richard Strauss. So now you can actually call it something other than "Theme from 2001". :P ***1/2 for sheer drama and markout value.

RVD: Whoa, high-energy stuff. Just like RVD himself (on his good nights, anyway). From an actual band. Using actual bands for wrestling themes is a hit-or-miss proposition...I count this one as a definite hit. ****

SMACKDOWN

Test: I always enjoyed the original "This is a Test" theme, even though the LYRICS~ were incomprehensible. It stood out from the rest of the entrance themes. (And it was hilarious to watch him come out to marry Stephanie with that music playing.) Anyway, recently a sort of slow, evil guitar part has been added. Unfortunately, this bit doesn't stand out from the rest of the themes. Yet it gets across the evilness of his character pretty well, and the blending of the two themes results in an interesting finished product. **1/2

Tajiri: I suppose it's a bit stereotypical, but it's something new and different, and it's catchy. **1/2

Hurricane: Wait a minute, is that an BRASS SECTION I hear?!? Maybe there's hope yet! The "Stand Back!" speech is a great touch too. ***

HHH: LYRICS~! Actual band: Hit (see RVD). This music has INTENSITY~! or something. Anyway, it's debatably one of the most memorable themes. ****

Mark Henry: Surprisingly good music, an interesting high-speed techno-ish vibe, very memorable. Pity Mark Henry sucks. ***

Chris Benoit: He was drafted for Smackdown, so nyah. :P At first listen more "repetitive guitar chords", but the arrangement is so sparse that it makes it sound fresh. And it's intense and merciless, much like Benoit himself. ***1/2

<Booker T: This is the same music he had in WCW, right? Or at least a minor remix of it. Anyway, I like it, it's got a nice pseudo-hip hop feel and seems to fit him well, and it gives the fans something to dance to if they want (as much as you can dance in an auditorium seat). RATING: ***>

Damn good. Like the train sample, it drives the whole thing.

<Goldust: Mostly as background to his extraordinarily overblown ring entrance; forgettable. *1/2>

Interesting progression though, and suits the character.

<D'Lo: Okay, so I'm listening to WWF Music vol. 3 as I type this.  This is one of those rare WWF themes that isn't a bunch of repetitive guitar chords. And it has LYRICS~! Nice and edgy. ***1/2>

No argument.

<Austin: Amazing how much difference some breaking glass can make. The glass makes a good backbone for the whole theme, which is nice and catchy. ****>

Shows the difference when a real band makes a real song as opposed to that poor tired guy in the WWE offices. i mark for the full version!

<nWo: I can't help but thinking that there's some in-joke in this music that I'm not getting. What the heck does "Fname Fname" mean anyway? Otherwise fairly forgettable.**1/2>

Generic wanna be Hendrix.

<Ric Flair: Absolutely classic. ***1/2 for sheer drama and markout value.>

Who ever chose this is a genius!

<RVD: Whoa, high-energy stuff. Just like RVD himself (on his good nights, anyway). From an actual band. Using actual bands for wrestling themes is a hit-or-miss proposition...I count this one as a definite hit. ****>

As above, having a real band play it and the slightly upped tempo makes this song anthemic.

SMACKDOWN

<Test: I always enjoyed the original "This is a Test" theme, even though the LYRICS~ were incomprehensible. **1/2>

Preferred the old kind of industrial one. His new tune is too much of a generic metal dirge.

<Tajiri: I suppose it's a bit stereotypical, but it's something new and different, and it's catchy. **1/2>

It's cool but not a heels theme.

<Hurricane: Wait a minute, is that an BRASS SECTION I hear?!? Maybe there's hope yet! The "Stand Back!" speech is a great touch too. ***>

Perfect for the character!

<HHH: LYRICS~! Actual band: Hit (see RVD). This music has INTENSITY~! or something. Anyway, it's debatably one of the most memorable themes. ****>

Great for what it is, but far, far from Motorheads best.

<Mark Henry: Surprisingly good music, an interesting high-speed techno-ish vibe, very memorable. Pity Mark Henry sucks. ***>

I actually like this one. Again it's the kinda up tempo ness which keeps it from being generic sludge.

<Chris Benoit: He was drafted for Smackdown, so nyah.  At first listen more "repetitive guitar chords", but the arrangement is so sparse that it makes it sound fresh. And it's intense and merciless, much like Benoit himself. ***1/2 >

His theme is much better than the one from forcable entry. It sounds so malicious. Really a crippler's music.

HHH's theme was cool when they first did it, but now it's just annoying and repetitive.

I loved "Respect" by Pantera, for RVD in ECW.

But as for now a days, I have to say Booker T's music, for sure.  Also, Chris Benoit's theme before the OLP version. And, other than the retardedly repetitive lyrics, Austin's "Glass Shatters" by Disturbed theme.

PS - I once heard that the nWo theme was just some piece of public domain that they ripped off of some porn. Can anyone confirm this?

Best music: Austins or RVD's

Best entrance: Christian (when he gets to actually use it as if he is in a tag match, the other persons entrance almost always gets played)

RAW ROSTER(going down the WWE Raw website list):

Big Boss Man: Plodding, just like Ray. Still neat that it hasn't changed since 1998. **

Big Show: covered in nWo music.

Booker T: One of my favorites. It sounds so determined, and the beginning with him yelling is great. ****1/4

Bradshaw: WEEEEEEEEWWWWWWW!!!!! This is all I hear when I think of it, since it has that little noise in it. **

Brock Lesnar: The first of many that we can only call Generic. *

Bubba Ray Dudley: I prefer the old version from 2000, but the new one was all right until they brought Saliva in. What Saliva redid gets ***

Goldust: Fitting for the character, and that's really all that matters. **1/4

Jacqueline: Meh. *

Kane: The Finger Eleven version is spiffy, the version now only gets ***1/4

Molly: Oh, if only she still had the Hurricane's music. Now she has just muzak. *

nWo: I don't care if it's Public Domain or Porn music, it's still perfect for seedy heels, and it even makes you feel like one listening to it. ****

Rob! Van! Dam!: ONE OF A KIND!!!!! The song alone gets ****3/4, but the descending note at the beginning that makes you say "Oh shit, it's RVD!!!" gives it the full *****!!

Planet Stasiak: Hey, if the shoe fits. But it isn't really music, so DUD

Spike Dudley: Old Dudley Theme!!! ***3/4

Steven Richards: I got nothing here. *

Edge: Can't go wrong with Rob. ****1/2

Faarooq: WEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!! **

Funaki: Soothing. Oldest music on the roster except for Austin's I think. **

Godfather: I'm basing this on the version right before he became the Goodfather, because that version was also GOLD. ****

Smackdown Theme: Manson. Beautiful People. *****

And that's my piece.

The Raw theme is the best out there right now, followed by RVD when played loud, IMO.

That Union Underground song just flat out owns.

How can you forget about the ultimate heel theme?

"No chance...that's what you've GOT..."

And I know Shane's gone now but I hope he uses "Here comes the money" when he returns

I agree, btw, with the Benoit comment.  NEVER change that music.

RAW:

Big Boss Man: -*

Big Show: Hated his old one at first, but it grew on me. *

Booker T: The theme was cool in 93-94 and it's WWF made it even better in 2001. It really adds to his entrance. *****

Bradshaw: It hypes the crowd but annoys the hell outta me. **

Brock Lesnar: Ok I guess. *

Bubba Ray Dudley: Saliva remake sucks. The WWF version was the best wrestling song I had heard since DX....Saliva gets 1/2*

Crash: Ok I guess. *

D'Lo Brown: Can't say anything bad about this song. *****

Eddie Guererro: "YAY!!! That sums it up. ****3/4" I agree

Goldust: The original version was better but I like the new one too. The song fits him perfectly and makes the entrance stand out. *** (BTW...not counting Hogan, who was using Voodoo Child in 97, this is the oldest song in the fed)

Hardys & Lita: Hardyz get **1/2. I like Lita's song from Forcable Entry. I usually don't care for rock, and I've had that song stuck in my head for a good 2 weeks. One of the best in the WWF right now. She gets ****1/2

Justin Credible: -****

Kane: I don't like the Finger Eleven thing...his one from Vol. 5 gets ***3/4

Raven: I love Raven's song. One of my favs right now. ****3/4

Planet Stasiak: I can't even remember his theme.

Spike Dudley: Dudley song was a little weak compared to their 2nd...so ***

Steven Richards: Can't even remember his. RTC was the jam though. Can't you see yourself up in the club dancing to that? ***********

Stone Cold Steve Austin: Austin's song is good...I liked the Disturbed one better though. And I also liked the alliance theme he used late last year. The one from volume 3 just kinda falls flat with me because it seems old. Still a classic theme, so it gets an automatic ****1/2

Terri: Lita's original. That gets her an auto * right there.

Trish Stratus: I like the theme. Really stands out from the rest of the roster. **1/2

Tommy Dreamer: "Get this man "Man in the Box," stat! *" I agree.

Undertaker: "Limp gets the crowd and I hype. All that matters." All that but I give it *****

Edge: Don't like Rob Zombie, but it fits Edge. ***

Faarooq: Too lazy to scroll back up and see what I gave Bradshaw, so see him.

Funaki: Nice. **

Godfather: The Aggression theme was hot. The one he has now is ok too, but not as good as the original. **

Hardcore Holly: "How ya like me now"? -** just for having that dumbass catchphrase!

Maven: Reminds me of something out of a Rocky movie or something like that. Really makes you feel like he's living a dream. **

Randy Orton: DUD

Rikishi: I liked his Volume 5 theme...on the CD. Beat didn't really pick up inside the arena. I like the Too Cool thing but by using it, it seems like he's trying to recapture old glory. That alone gives it **

The Rock: Didn't like it when he returned but it's grown on me. ***1/2

Tajiri: In the words of that horse guy from Ren and Stimpy..."No sir...I don't like it". DUD

Torrie Wilson: Ever since I heard her song on the Xmas Raw, it's had my attention. It hardly ever gets any play on TV, and last time I checked WWFSuperstars they hadn't updated her video. It's hard to judge hearing it only a few times...but the intrigue gives it an auto *1/2

Triple H: I bet somewhere, somebody is sitting behind there computer and waiting for me to type the "I-word". I REFUSE!!!! *****

Saturn: RADICALZ!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THAT THEME! ****3/4

Stacey Keibler: Her old one sounded like a Sable ripoff. Legs fits her...***

Lance Storm: I like the song. It's...ELECTRIC! ***

Tazz: I mark out just listening to the song! It even finishes with a sound byte from ECW (Anarchy Rulz if I'm not mistaken). Nostalgia factor gives it a *****

Maven's music always elicits a pop

Austin, HHH, Taker, Hogan, the Hardys, and Kidman have great music.

I like Benoit, but his music could be better.

Bah.

For Austin's theme, I like Glass Shatters by Disturbed more than his current theme, but it really only fit his Alliance/Heel character.

And did anyone ever decipher the lyrics to Test's original theme?

Right now I like Kidman's and Hurricane's from Smackdown and Booker T's from RAW.

Benoit's (And hopefully still the same when he gets back) is probably the best music they have had for a good while. It shouldn't be changed ever.

Undertaker's coming to near the end of his Darkside days could be pretty cool at times, the one with the monks and everything that time was way over the top but I liked it.

HBK's was perfect for his character and suited him right to a T.

DX one was cool originally but it got really bad once they changed it for HHH's second run when he was champ.

you think so? he barely used it for his heel/alliance stuff he had that slower one totally differnt with the weird eiyeah-eiyeh-eiyeh sound. he originally used it when he returned in september of 2000 so to me its more associated with his character's triumphant return.

Billy & Chuck's music has grown on me. There's gotta be subliminals or something in there. I like Lita's music, too, and Test's old music, and HHH's 'My Time' theme, and the APA and Benoit themes, but the best music of all?

Duuuuuuude Love... Duuuuuuude Love...

LOL, I agree. I was listening to Volume 4 one day a few months ago on my way to work and when Test's theme came up, I just let it play and I started to really dig it like with Big Show's music. Kinda creepy, eh?

I see that no one likes Benoit's FE theme, but I do.  I am not saying he should use it, but the song is listenable.  And I think the full RVD them from FE is way cool, but i see why they edit it for entrance.  What he has now is the begginning to his first WWF theme (the walk ripoff) followed by the shouting one of a kind.

BTW Stevie Richards is now using Kronik's theme, without the "Kronik" at the beginning.

Austin's Alliance theme rulz **** it fit the heel paranoid Austin better.  I like the Disturbed version despite the repetetive lyrics.  Original is good, but old.  I liekd the original version that didn't have the cymbals and stuff (the one he used from Survivor Series '96 to October '98)

I must be the only one who likes the FE CD. I have listened to it at least 30 times and I still like it (so sue me)

Regal's theme is pretty cool, the one before it though was kinda better.  Both are kinda James Bondish, speaking of which I liked Dean Malenko's "Bond" song from 2000 when he was with the ladies.

right now my favs are Eddy, Chavo,Booker, Tazz, Crash,Hardocre, Maven, Flair of course, Angles (and the chorus is Angle Angle Angle, not you suck), Goldust ( I like it so what), Of course Billy and Chuckys theme (cant get it out of my head for some reason)

speaking again of FE, why is there a remix of Edges theme on there and not the actual one he uses?

Raven's FE theme rulz moreso then his original, but I liked his ECW theme better

Original Jericho from vol4 is the best.  The sevendust cover from FE is not too bad, more dark.

I actually like the new version of Dudleys.

anyone else got some opinions?

I'll tell you what song kicks ass, that version of Austin's music that they had playing in the background for his new DVD. I think they used it in Smackdown 3 as well. I like the beginning to Booker T's music and I think it's the one time that a catchphrase in the beginning works really well. I think the actual song is boring, but Booker T saves it.

Simon Sez- Simon Diamond's ECW music.

Entre Dos Trios - KDX's ECW theme (or so they say)

I can't find anything better.

WWF:

Benoits new theme by OLP should work well.

HHH's Motorhead is a given.

Kidmans has always rool'd.

Real American just rocks with the Nostalgia and the 7 Year old in my loves it.

Flairs theme is just...fuck...great.  I hate the 'Whoo' the Wwf added...bastards.
