Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 14, 2002 -On the creative team: No names have been decided on yet but Jerry Jarrett will be an advisor to the writing team. Maybe Vince Russo isn't on the creative team then. I heard Ed Ferrera was going to be a commentator, so it wouldn't surprise me if he helps on the creative end. Jerry Jarrett knows how book good southern style angles, so thats a plus. -On being part owner and a wrestler: He expects to get some criticism from people who feel he will book himself to win, but he really wants to just be part of a show where everybody knows their role. I believe that translates to, "Yes, I will be the champion and everyone one else will shut their mouths and know their rolls." -On selling PPVs each week without TV: Says they are revolutionary and that the idea will work since they will be able to tell stories each week on PPV. He compared the NWA to shows like Sopranos and Sex In The City, shows which people more or less pay to see. Added that it is an established fact that wrestling fans are willing to pay to see the product. Said they are giving 8 hours a month for $40, compared to most wrestling PPVs which are $20-$30 for 3 hours. Jeff is forgetting that the WWE also gives us 40 free hours of wrestling a month. I think they should offer a whole month's worth of shows for $30 as a package. I heard they were going to do some subscription thing a while ago, but I guess they dropped that idea. -On delivering payoffs on the PPVs: Said they will deliver payoffs on every show. Various storyline payoffs will happen one week, while others are advanced. So, how many storyline payoffs will their be on the first PPV? The creative is going to have to work their asses off to make this thing work. -On the PPV format: Said having no commercials will allow them to cut matches short when they need to, run them long when they need to, and better allow them to tell the story in the ring. I agree with Jeff for the most part, but why would they need to cut the matches short? And couldn't they do that even if the show wasn't on PPV? -On using celebrities: Said that if it fits the situation, celebrities will be worked in the storyline. That should suck. Country music stars and NASCAR racers don't fit into any wrestling storylines. -On satellite and digital cable: Says the NWA will be available on all satellite and cable platforms. I guess that means they have a legitimate chance at getting 50,000 buys. -On competing with WWE & Vince McMahon: Said he does not want to get into bidding wars with McMahon. He said he is worried about WWE stealing NWA talent, but added that the way to avoid that is to make sure the talent is signed and that they want to be in the NWA. NWA offers wrestlers a light schedule with only 26 dates a year. I doubt Vince will steal the NWA talent because if he really wanted them he would already have signed them. I'm surprised the NWA isn't going to any house shows. That would be easy money and a place for the wrestlers to try out new stuff in the ring before it ends up on TV. -On letting the talent work indy shows: All NWA: TNA talent will be allowed to work indy shows on off days. They sorta have to allow the talent to work elsewhere. I mean how much can they be paying these guys? -On the available talent: NWA is very interested in all available talent. So I guess I even have a chance at making in the NWA. -On NWA talent: The NWA will have a lot of new "kick ass, cutting edge" characters. The show will also have a T&A element. Sounds like the same thing every other new promotion has said. -On announcing PPV match cards: Some matches and highlights for taped shows will be hyped up ahead of time, however, full cards will probably not be released ahead of time. They will mainly stick to storyline teasers to promote the PPV. They also plan to promote the PPVs on radio, TV, and print. Bad idea. I think the full cards are important in order to bring in the highest number of buys. -On whether he has spoken to WWE: Jarrett gave a "no comment." I'm pretty sure that means, "No, Vince still hates me. I have tried calling WWE Headquarters everyday for the last few months, but they kept hanging up on me. That is why I decided to join my father in the NWA." -On women's involvement with NWA: Jarrett isn't a fan of women wrestling but females will be used to tell stories. Oh, so I guess that wasn't only his gimmick. -On the announcers: Promised some surprises. I swear to god, if Okalahoma shows up I will never watch the NWA again. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted May 14, 2002 After reading that I think Jarrett honestly believes that this company is going to be a success. I for one will probably order the first one or two PPV's just test the waters and then see what happens. Being the huge Jarrett mark that I am I think it might just work if the right talent gets on board. If I were the Jarrett's I would sign Shamrock, Hennig, Hall, AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, Mike Modest, Devon Storm, Sabu, Road Dogg, Lynn, and Vampiro. Not a bad little talent roster there. Anyone else think if they fired up the Jarrett/Vampiro feud from WCW it would be smoking.

I never watched WCW during the Jarrett-Vampiro feud, but I'm sure it would be great if it was booked southern/Memphis style.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 I believe that translates to, "Yes, I will be the champion and everyone one else will shut their mouths and know their rolls." lol. i actually think its a good idea to have him as the champ and be chased..builds better intrigue for a new company. sure he gets it because hes part owner, but what other heel do you give it to? Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 I heard Harley Race will be at the show...no, seriously Jarrett probably is the best choice, but it may look bad if the part-owner wins the title. Like the Gagnes in the AWA.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Jarrett will still be the most talented in the company, because he is the most talented "free agent" out there right now. He should be the title holder and claim that since he is the owner he can do what ever he feels like, thus making him the biggest heel in the company.
