Guest papacita Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Just about everytime I read a WMX8 review that match gets pretty much ripped apart. Watching it live, I was pretty entertained by the match, and just watching the tape a minute ago, it still seems like a pretty good match for the Women's division. Anyway, I just wanna know what everybody else thought of the match. BTW, what corner bump Trish took at the end of the match was NASTY!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 It was a fine match...but the lack of crowd heat following Rock/Hogan killed it for me. Upon watching it again later I thought it was a pretty well laid out and tight match.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted May 15, 2002 My question for you, super moderator is this. Upon second viewing was Rock/Hogan better or worse? Also, your opinion on the undisputed title match. Better or worse the second time around?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Rock Hogan was about the same to me. I am still amazed by the crowd heat...but the match is eh... Jericho HHH was better than I thought...but not like OOHH...Look at that! Jericho busted ass.
Guest Report post Posted May 15, 2002 In spite of the dead crowd, I liked the Triple H-Jericho title match. Sure, I could've done without JR's screaming every ten seconds about Hunter's ACL hanging by wires, and yes, the match the two had on Smackdown not too long ago was much better, but I still liked it. As for the women's match, were it not for Lita stinking up the joint, it would've been good. The Trish-Jazz portions were nice. And except for the last couple of minutes and the post-match posedown, Rock-Hogan sucked sucked sucked.
Guest papacita Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Hogan and Rock didn't do much for me live. Maybe it was because I was fading in and out of sleep during the PPV, but it was hard to get into, and it seemed like all that the match had was crowd heat. I watched the entire PPV again today, and I thought it was a lot more entertaining...especially towards the end. I loved how they mixed Hogan's "Hulk Up" with Rock's "spit on hand/punch" thing. It was a pretty good match. The crowd killed HHH and Jericho, but it was good too...can't touch their Smackdown match though...and Jericho should've retained. Pretty much, I thought the whole PPV was a lot better than I remembered watching it live...especially RVD/Regal, Rock/Hogan and Women's Title match. The show is much more watchable without having to think about the ridiculous storylines that lead up to the PPV.
Guest bsrizpac Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Horrible match on a near worthless WM card. Thank god for Hogan v. Rock. The women's match was better than I thought it would be but it barely hit ** (in women's ratings not mens). At a mens rating it was still -** at least. HHH v. Jericho was GOD AWFUL. Both guys sucked that night but as always HHH made Jericho look bad.
Guest Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Women's Title match was entertaining to me but there were two things wrong with it: 1. It was far too high up the card in my estimation. Put that near the beginning and you would have had a good start to the show. 2. Rock/Hogan. I think no matter what match you put after Rock/Hogan it was destined to be dead. The fans had just given so much for that match and there was no way they could keep it up. They needed a breath and unfortunately the Women's title match was the interlude. Rock/Hogan wasn't the most spectacular match but it had some good atmosphere to it. Not a great match but it was alright. Jericho/HHH was for me a damn good match Jericho wise, he really put on a good showing there but HHH's lacklustre run from January really brought the match down. He just wasn't into it and Jericho at times was just really competing against himself to get it going. Crowd still wasn't fully pumped after Hogan/Rock either. Guest Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Well, I was in attendence at Wrestlemania X8 and I honestly have to say that the Women's match wasn't that good. Although the women worked hard and delivered what they could, they were following one of the biggest matches in Wrestlemania history, it wasn't their fault. The Hogan/Rock match had everyone on an emotional rollarcoaster, and it was a difficult task to follow it. However, when I did watch Wrestlemania again the next day, the Women's match did come together better than I first thought. PS Trish should have won the match though. Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Report post Posted May 15, 2002 I agree with the above. I was there in person as well, and it was almost like the Womens Title match was there so everyone could catch their breath back for the main event (which didn't really happen). I've seen it a few times since, and I can't fault the work-rate. Three-ways are so hard to pull off though.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted May 15, 2002 Lita was drugged for it. She goes to do the moonsault and starts to take off her shirt and the crowd and King go crazy. Then she just stops. The crowd dies again. The womens match was okay but had no business following Rock-Hogan. Trish should've gone over. BTW I loved the main event. It was a lot better then watching it live. Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 The women's match should have been before Hogan-Rock, because it wouldn't really hurt the flow of the show. Therefore if it killed the crowd, Hogan-Rock would get the crowd right back into the show anyway. In a perfect world, Hogan-Rock would have ended the show. Then everything would have been better. Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted May 15, 2002 I was also at Skydome btw. When they started playing the Hogan-Rock promo....it seemed like no one really thought that it would be next. Everyone assumed that it would be the last match. After that match, people started leaving like a movie ended! I felt really bad for the women to try and follow that. I mean, poor Trish had her Canadian flag & maple leaf booty shorts and the crowd didn't care because she wasn't a bald boa wearing asshole with incredible muscle mass for his age. Anyway, the match was decent....watching it on DVD its much better, so is HHH-Jericho IMO, but at least live I didnt have to hear JR screaming about HHH's leg being held by wires. Guest Report post Posted May 15, 2002 It's really a catch 22 with the women's matches, especially on cards that have "double main events". They stick the chicks between the two main events because it's the easiest thing to cut if there are time issues, which really puts it in a no win situation. http://www.americasguest.cjb.net
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted May 16, 2002 If it werent for Trish and Lita jumping the gun on sdome spots (i.e the bulldog, anything lita did) it woulda been good. but when you go for a bulldog, stop, and go for it 3 secnds late rit looks silly. JR: Trish....jerking lita off....
Guest notJames Report post Posted May 16, 2002 I don't really remember too much from the match, except that I was actively annoyed when Lita was in any wrestling sequence... except when she took the SuperFishermansbuster (it was her that took it, right?) Kudos to Trish and Jazz for salvaging what was essentially a popcorn match.

Kudos to Trish and Jazz for salvaging what was essentially a popcorn match. It was good for a WOMEN'S match. That being said I think women's matches are always horribly shitty. And don't give me that.....well you need to see puroresu. Watch Akira Hokito crap. I have and i"m not impressed.
Guest Report post Posted May 16, 2002 Just like most of you said, it wasn't fair to have them follow Hogan-Rock. The match itself was alright though, except a few blown spots. Hell, that one spot in the corner, I thought Trish broke her leg. Anyway, I've been saying this for a while, The Women's division, Trish, Jazz and Molly has been some of the best "WRESTLING" on the shows for the last 2-3 months. I've been a wrestling fan since 86' and this is the first time ever which I really liked Womens wrestling. It's about the only good thing the WWE is doing right about now. It really sucks to see Jazz get hurt. You know what sucks even more? After all the damn hard work Trish/Jazz/Molly has done to make the women's title meaningful, what does Vince do? He makes a match for Trish Vs Stacy at the PPV Sunday. Hey, I have no problem seeing those two roll around on the mat together in a gimmick match, but Stacy shouldn't be in a wrestling match. Guest Report post Posted May 17, 2002 Stacy is better than Lita. She was ok in a tag match she had with Jazz........plus Trsih will strip her nude.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 17, 2002 I don't remember the match standing out as being particularly good or bad, but like everyone else agrees, it was way too high on the card. If a "dream match" of Rock vs. Hogan is the "second main event", shouldn't it actually be, ya know, the second main event? After I saw that match, they announced the women's match and thought, "WTF? I thought this was on HeAT..."
