Dvd releases for 5/14

I'm a little late again, my bad. Not too many titles this week, which is fine, cuz there is a bunch next week, so it's a good time to save money.

One of my favourite films of 2001. I'd say it's the best Tim Burton film that he never made. The atmosphere and art direction are amazing. The 2 disc set is LOADED with stuff, including a commentary, an alternate ending and 22 deleted scenes. The DVD is limited edition, so they will be discontinued eventually.

 

The Others

 

Another film I really enjoyed last year. Very moody, and like From Hell, has great art direction. DVD has some decent features, but nothing exciting. They could have released it as one disc.

 

Rose Red

 

The latest original miniseries from Stephen King, complete with commentary. The Storm of the Century was a great looking disc for a TV production, and this is about the same on the quality level.

I'm going to have to pick up "The Others" and "From Hell". I really liked the latter, but I think I'm in the minority. Too many good DVDs coming out, I'm going to have to get a second job.

Well i've seen Boondock Saints for sale on Ebay. However Amazon has it coming out May 21st. I'm not sure if this means the ones on ebay are bootlegged or if the studio is just releasing a better DVD edition

Huh? I've been seeing From Hell in one of the stores I frequent for about 3 weeks. Maybe it's some funky import edition..I'll have to check.

 

Best Buy has The Others for $17.99, so it looks like I'll be heading there pretty soon.

I had heard the 25th of June about a month or so ago. I don't know if that's still the case though.
