Guest Posted May 15, 2002 Report Posted May 15, 2002 If you've played Final Fantasy 7 for the PS1 then you might remember the badass sword that Sephiroth carried around. In the game it is called a Masamune, I was wondering is there a name for the sword in real life? If there is, is it Masamune?, I've also heard it called a nodachi.
Guest Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 Shit, this probably should have been in the General Chat forum, oh well.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 I believe it is a No-Daichi, yes. And yeah, it probably should have been in general chat, but waaaaaah.
Guest J*ingus Posted May 16, 2002 Report Posted May 16, 2002 Masamune was a maybe-fictitious legendary swordmaker, so it's a guy's name, not a sword's. It's in all the FF games, usually in a "best sword in the game" role. The story I recall was about a contest between Masamune and another great swordmaker; both of them stuck their masterpieces into a slowly flowing brook. Some leaves came along, and the other guy's sword was so well made that the leaves were sliced in two as they brushed up against it. But Masamune's sword was of such great power that the leaves actually avoided it and went around it, thus he won the contest.
