Pro wrestling... in Iowa? I've been to Iowa. I have family there. It is the flattest, dullest, sanest, most perfectly ordinary & boring place on earth. A great place to retire, if you don't mind the cold. But... wrestling? I know they have a great amatuer tradition at the university there, but that usual REPELS pro wrestling from being popular in such an area.

Pretty sure No Limits pulled in 200 people recently to Muscatine, so to say that Iowa is not receptive to pro wrestling would be completely off the mark.

Muscatine averages 200, the old location in the Quad Cities drew around 90-100. NLW does pretty well for themselves.

Results from Night 1:

Attendance is about 80, but the place looks full as the people are spread out quite a bit. The crowd was plenty hot, too.

In no particular order:

Tyler Black/Claudio Castagnoli d. Perfect Strangers after Claudio's Pyramid Driver

Mickie Knuckles d. Daizee Haze by hitting a Wizard (there wasn't much Shining going on as she totally bypassed the knee to give Daizee a stiff kick to the face)

Abyss d. Larry Sweeney with the Black Hole Slam when he answered Larry's open challenge

Chandler McClure d. Shane Storm (Before the match, Chandler got on the mic and asked the fans to give him a chance so that they would see a new side of Chandler McClure)

Chris Hero d. Brandon Thomaselli by making him submit to the Hangman's Clutch (Good match from both, Hero got on the mic afterward and put Brandon over)

Matt Sydal d. Josh Abercrombie, Joey Envy and Marek Brave to retain the NWA Midwest X-Division Title (Huge spotfest, as all four men shined at one point or another, and the crowd ate it up, including Marek Brave just missing a shooting star press, before Sydal finally hit his weird torture rack brainbuster thing for the victory [not sure who took the pinfall])

Ryan Boz d. Delirious with Boz' Fire Thunder Driver (Total comedy match as every match with Delirious eventually is, as Delirious hid in the crowd and stole a kid's hat to pretend to be a little kid before Boz finally got his paws on him and eventually hit the Fire Thunder Driver for the win)

Steve Corino and Ian Rotten went to a no-contest when Eddie Kingston attacked Ian Rotten as Rotten and Corino brawled on the outside, Arik Cannon made the save for Ian, Michael Shane came out and attacked both men, and finally IWA-MS Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Jacobs ran out to even the sides once again. The fans chanted for a six-man, and Corino heeled it up before Ian finally turned to Bryce Remsberg and told him to ring the bell as soon as Ian got his hands on Corino.

Steve Corino, Eddie Kingston and Michael Shane d. Ian Rotten, Arik Cannon and Jimmy Jacobs when Eddie Kingston ducked Arik's Glimmering Warlock and hit Ian instead. Michael Shane then held Arik back long enough to let Eddie get the pin on Ian. After the match Ian asked Arik to swear on his son John Calvin that it was a mistake, and Arik did so and shook hands with Ian, but not before a fan with his girlfriend in the crowd said that that was gay. Ian ripped into him, and told his girlfriend that if she wanted a real man, she could meet the IWA-MS Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Jacobs.

The advertised match of Michael Shane vs. Jimmy Jacobs did not take place. Overall, it was a good show, and probably one that's going to result in more fans when they come back to Burlington.
