Best wwf tag champions ever

Recommended Posts

Guest papacita

Since there's so much talk about abolishing the titles, who do you think were the best WWF Tag Champs ever? Here's my opinion:

In no order...

1. Demolition

2. Edge and Christian

3. Hart Foundation

4. Owen and Bulldog

5. NAO (based on heat alone)

6. Money Inc.

The teams already listed were great (save The Natural Disasters), but I think Edge and Christian are the greatest tag champs ever. This is due to the fact that they dominated the title picture when it was populated with people like the Hardyz, Dudleyz, Too Cool, and APA when they were at their freshest.

Beniot & Jericho was probably the best tag team to come out of Canada.

2. The Rockers

3. Demolition

4. The Hart Foundation

5. The Dudley Boys

6. Legion of Doom

7. Hardy Boyz

8. The Natrual Disasters

9. Money Inc.

10. Kaientai (I don't care if they've never won the tag championship, they are awesome regardless, however if you want to continue with the tag champion theme, I'll go with The Bushwackers as much as it pains me to say it.)

Demolition

They dominated a division that had the Rockers, Twin Towers, Powers of Pain, British Bulldogs, Fab Rugueos (sp?), Hart Foundation, Rythme & Blues and several other quality teams.

Either the British Bulldogs or the Hart Foundation. Edge and Christian were pretty cool in their heyday, too. Why did they break up again?

edge and christian

they had it all, great vignettes, easily watchable matches and very cool promos.  the tag division needs another E&C!

As much as I like Edge & Christian, I can't shake off the instinct that they're mainly internet darlings.

That being said, my pick for the best WWF Tag Team Champions is the Hart Foundation.  Just about the best package of everything during the golden age of the WWF.

I have to go with the Bulldogs. Dynamite kid was just that damn good. And Bulldog could carry his own back in the day.

Personally, I liked the Dream Team - Valentine & Beefcake - okay, so they weren't exactly the greatest workers (Beefcake) but there was something about their look and tactics. A great heel team back in the day.

Also, Demolition for sure! Ax & Smash. None of that third man Crush bullshit.

And for today's "era" (if you can even call it that) Benoit & Jericho, if only because it's a smarks dream tag team.

I am stunned at the lack of love for the Bulldogs. Only 2 others picked them---but the friggin' NAO and Demolition get serious love?

Re-watch the Bulldogs from 1986---before Kid's back was injured. They were f'n amazing.

Here's another vote for the Bulldogs. I remember watching them when I just started to like wrestling and I couldn't believe they had just beat Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy! I was stunned! They were the very first team I liked.

Then came the Road Warriors (LOD) and I thought they had a terrific tag reign, I couldn't understand why they didn't regain from Money Inc., which I thought sucked.

After that I enjoyed the Outlaws but mostly how over they were, not exactly their workrate.

And of course, the Canadian Blondes/Hardyz, Dudleyz wars were the shit. I think I lost my voice marking out for ALL OF THEM at WM2000 and X-7. Two live experiences I'll never forget.

If you've never seen the Bulldogs do that move where DBS presses one guy above his head in their corner while Dynamite jumps off "him" and gives the swandive headbutt to the other guy lying on the mat, find it. It's absolutely swank-a-riffic...

Another for the Bulldogs, some of their matches were pretty damn good.

The Rockers, I'm almost positive they had a short reign as champs. Great team.

Benoit & Jericho is just a dream team as has been said and I'm sure if Benoit hadn't have injured himself, I'd say they would have had a longer reign.

The Rockers had an unacknowledged title reign.

Anything Dynamite did before 86' was great. One of these days I'm going to FINALLY buy RF's best of Dynamite tape. Oops, getting off the subject.

Anyway, my favorite was the Hart Foundation. The Power House (Anvil) and the Technician (Bret). Other teams have tried this formula and none other have had the success or talent and chemistry to pull it off like Bret and Jim.

For whoever said The Bushwhackers up there, they have never won the titles...

My top teams are:

Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard

The British Bulldogs

Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett

The Hart Foundation

LOD

Strike Force

The Rockers could also claim to be former tag champs, so I'll ad them in too.

Out of those who never won the titles, I would say The Rougeau Brothers and The Can-Am Connection.

Benoit got injured at KOTR, after they lost the titles to the Dudleys.

Benoit was actually hurt the few months leading up to KOTR. The KOTR match was just the final straw. Rumor was, Benoit was taking time off after that anyway.

Considering how short lived that team was, they were great.  In my opinion they can match pretty much any team just because of how they were built up and how good they were.  If they weren't such good singles wrestlers, I would actually suggest that they should team for a long run.

Not really.  That's what the WWF/E claimed.  He had actually had back pains for quite some time and he needed a break.  Can't wait for the crippler to return.
