Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted May 16, 2002 You know I just listened to Jericho's debut. And I just got to say that when he entered that ring the pop was UNREAL. The fans went nuts and were behind him. They had something there. Jericho right there probably could've walked right in and stole the WWF title and they would've been fine. And the night he won the WWF title from HHH they went nuts. And they could've left it on him that night to. He was so ready to break out and be a huge star the minute he walked onto a WWF stage. But now he seems to be ruined. How do they rebuild Jericho. How do they give him that big star aura he had? Or will he ever be rebuilt?
Guest notJames Report post Posted May 16, 2002 You can't capture lightning in a bottle twice. I too was overwhelmed by Jericho's first appearance. I watch it every now and again on tape. Just a picture perfect way to introduce a new legitimate star in the roster. Too bad he had to run into that ol' glass ceiling...
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 16, 2002 Well, I see two quick ways, though neither would probably work out in the long run. Step one: double-turn at the Hell-in-a-Cell. Very easy to do--have Jericho doing all the acrobatics, the big bumps and spots, and have HHH absolutely murder him. If HHH plays the heel and Jericho the face, then the crowd'll go along, because as much as he's lumbering around lately, few people do the wicked heel better than HHH. You get the crowd behind him as the underdog guy again, though Edge has already sort of got that covered. I say better to keep him heel, because he does it so well, have him win the HIAC (yeah right), then go on to destroy Hogan at King of the Ring. Whether or not he gets the belt through that is arbitrary--at that point, people will EXPECT him to have the belt, and that's what you want in a big-time main event superstar. Guest Report post Posted May 16, 2002 They need to let him win his matches properly. No more of this bullshit cheating and such, I know that a heel's supposed to do that and all but the extent Jericho has been made do, it's lost him a lot. Nobody can actually look at him and think he could beat guys normally. I think he's either got to return to face as Ed suggested or else he's got to be a monster heel for this HIAC and start beating guys legitimately and properly, much akin to how HHH did in 2000. Granted that probably won't happen since Jericho isn't sleeping with the daughter but it could be one of the only ways I reckon to bring him back up there. He looks like an idiot just by himself, he doesn't need fifteen inch lifts to make him seem even lamer. Drop them now! Drop the entrance, it's GOOFY. Keep the orignal mix of his music. Either go with insane angry jericho heel: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" from earlier this year (when he did an Owen impression) or go with egotistical heel like he is now, but let him run wild with his characters. More jokes and obnoxiousness. That'll solve at least half of hte problems he's having.

Errrrrrrr, hate to break it to you, but Jericho sucks doing the insane thing, his promos are even more embarrassing than they usually are. I wouldn't have blamed The Rock if he started to crack up, it was terrible. Also, he doesn't need to do jokes. Comedy heels don't draw and limit any possible potential. I can't remember Andre The Giant or Ric Flair calling their opponents jerky and showing 'hilarious' pictures on the screen.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 16, 2002 I think Jericho should stay as a whining, bitchy heel because there is already enough humor on SmackDown!.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted May 17, 2002 rrrrrrrr, hate to break it to you, but Jericho sucks doing the insane thing, his promos are even more embarrassing than they usually are I think that the pre-RR "transitional champion" promo that could be classified as insane is the best promo that anybody has cut this year. And the best way to rebuild jericho would be to let HIM cheat. I have stated this before in other threads, but when does he ever do his dirty deeds on his own for himself. Vengeance- Vince interfered to stop Rock, Vince and Booker interfere to stop Austin RR- Jericho himself cheats to win NWO- NWO attacks Austin WM- Jobs to HHH Backlash-not on card In all but RR he seems like the extra guy in the finish. People don't interfere on behalf of Jericho in horsemen style they interfere to get at the opponent and that does not help Jericho. If Jericho had a group that cheated to help him retain that would get heat on Jericho, but when people interfere to get the other guy it gives the impression of "Oh man Austin is going to get the NWO, and oh yeah Jericho retained." As has been the way his entire run Jericho was just the afterthought with what he was involved in.
Guest Risk Report post Posted May 17, 2002 God, I hate heels and faces. Too boring. Jericho should maul Triple H and defeat him, without any help. Then, he should get out of his damn storyline with Vince, as in stop hanging around with him. Jericho has never liked Vince, so he shouldn't like him now. Jericho COULD be a Rulebreaker(I refuse to call him a "heel")WITH fans. Kind of kind Flair had. Flair would cheat, but a lot knew he was great anyways. Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted May 17, 2002 Yes heels cheat. But they do like one thing. Low blow or foot on the ropes. Jericho has like 80 guys interfere, belt shot, low blow, chair shot, guns, knives, feet on ropes, and he still barely squeaks by. Yeah that's not how a heels supposed to cheat. That's how a PUSSY cheats.
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted May 17, 2002 The best way to make Jericho credible is fairly easy. Just get every tape of him in WCW in 1998. There's how to build Jericho into a mega heel.
Guest Risk Report post Posted May 17, 2002 The WW E needs to be more realistic. None of this... "I'm a heel!" "Wow! I'm a heel too!" "Wow! Lets be tag partners!" "Yeah!"

Yup. I can't see why they didn't do that after Vengeance. People blame the booking, but Jericho himself has dropped the ball, too. He has a weak offense. He cuts very generic, very bland heel promos (with the exception of the pre-Rumble one). But I wouldn't turn him face.
Guest Risk Report post Posted May 18, 2002 Eh, I don't like Jericho as a heel, face, or twenner. They should just let him act however he wants. I think it's pretty low of people to put down a wrestler's character by referring to them as "good guys" and "bad guys."
