New japan 1998 tournament question

In 1998, New Japan held a tag team tournament where the winners would get a shot at the WCW Tag Team Titles. I want to say that Kensuke Sasaki and Yugi Nagata won but I'm now sure. The WCW tag champions at that point were Scott Hall and The Giant.

 

Did Sasaki/Nagata ever get their shot?

They never got a shot. NJ must have taken one of Bischoff's false promises to heart and done a tournament. That, or they just wanted a concept for the tour.
