Soooo who's going to their respective prom this year? my friends and I are still debating whether to go or not. Today was the day to buy our tickets, but at bailed out at the last minute. Tomorrow is the last day to buy them. If we don't go i'll either go to the Pop Disaster Tour or head to Wasaga for the weekend. Decisions, decisions. Anyone have any prom stories to share for those who went?

Mine was April 27th, and I had a thermonuclear blast as opposed to last year's absolute disaster. I say go, especially if you're a Senior.

I'll share the respective disaster and glory stories later.

I had my Senior Prom in 99 and I was very sick.  I lost about 15lbs in the 2 weeks prior.  I was 6'1" and 165 lb befroe I got sick so I looked like a skelton at 140ish.  I decided that taking "E" would keep me awake all night but it just made me feel good and be lazy like it always did.  Then the E wore off and i was left with a date i didn't like who I was roped into taking by her friends and still to sick to even drink.  I did not like my Senoir Prom.

I graduated in 1996... fuck, I'm old.

My prom was less than memorable, but I went with this girl as her date for one a few years later and had a blast making an ass of myself with high school kids.

They will look back on their prom night and wonder who the hell that weird looking dude is in all their pictures, and wonder who that guy with the hairy ass was that ran around the hotel naked.

Oh yeah My senior prom was held in a tent in the back of the Middle School because my high school was banned from all the hotels in the area 30 years ago and now they think it's a nice trdition to make kids sweat their asses off in an undersized tent instead of being in an air conditioned Hotel.  I hated my High School.

Proms are a whole lot of headache for something that doesn't live up to its hype.

My senior prom in '98 went just fine.  How good a time you have at one of these things depends on how well you plan the evening.

It sucked. I'd have rather stayed home and played 4 player GoldenEye on N64.

I didn't go.  For one thing, I had to work.  I could have gotten the day off, but I disliked the school where I attended senior year so much that I opted not to participate.  To make it up to myself, I drank a whole bottle of champagne and rented a hooker.

I think the difference maker is your willingness to do stuff.

Junior year, I just sat there (literally), watching everyone else having a good time, and didn't even ask people about After Parties, making me end up at a pathetic affair involving a bunch of guys sitting in a garage scraping up beer money. Not having a date really hurt the optimism I had when I arrived also. The night ended with my father and I in the Taco Bell drive-thru around 1:30 AM talking about how badly the night had turned out and watching a drunk kid dance in the parking lot. I woke up the next morning legitimately thinking the bad time I'd had the previous evening was just a dream, but the realization that I'd had an absolutely squalid night hit me like a ton of bricks, depressing me for a week or so.

Senior year, aw yeah. It was the shit. I danced like a madman, tired my poor date out (managed to get a 21 year old I work with to accompany me), and went to two After Parties. The first was a bunch of Juniors sitting around drinking Sprite and watching movies, and I'm willing to take guesses on how fast I left that one. The second one was the Senior AP/IB class social circle, and they had booze aplenty, and no sitting around, as the drunks tried to play badmiton, keep up coherent conversation, and wrestle (amateur-style, otherwise I'd be right in there with them) each other. It was just a fun night. I woke up the next morning feeling great, knowing I'd had a great time, and that I really had danced a lot, since my legs' soreness didn't go away for another two days and the headbanging I'd done when the rock was played later in the night had my neck sore for three. The rest of the weekend was superb as well, since I went to the beach that day and the next, and almost hooked up with a girl there, a project I'm still working on.

So once again, the difference maker is how active you are. I say, like David Bowie, "Put on your red shoes and dance!"

When I was in high school I went to two proms my junior year and two my senior year and managed to nail 3 out of 4 girls. Otherwise it wasn’t worth it.

There are over 200 graduating students at my school this year, and I think there are just under 150 tickets for the prom (we don't really call it that, but oh well).  I wasn't planning to go anyway, especially now when I'd just be taking the place of someone who really did want to go.
