Guest Insanityman Report post Posted May 17, 2002 Okay I lied, this is rather short. But as I read over stats... and I am being a hypocrit right now (I'm editing my stats right after this). But Spider Nekura is a true great of this federation, he's basically always ruled and only two other guys I really mark out for (maybe three) besides him. One of his signature moves was the thumb to the eye and the Black Mist (I think). Now obviously the mist isn't his idea, but he brought it into play first (I believe). Now I've talked to (and obviously bored) Nekura to death about matches and stuff. I asked him if I could use the Black Mist as this shitty Plague thing I'm running is mostly IL using heel moves like the Clan. But now Poisyn has a mist, and it's being used at different times with different people at various times. I just feel like any crediblity to the Mist is gone. It's almost slapping Nekura and everyone before that who made that cheating method so ruling-ness. As I change my stats I ask anyone esle who has it not to use it often. Another thing we've been through this sooooooooo many times. (I'm not good at this either yet) but more feedback from the JL to the WF and vice versa. Also JL to JL, WF to WF (especially). So yeah new stat time for me. Anyways thanks for wasting your time. Edit: I guess the Clan gets issued it as Flesher tells me.
Guest crusen86 Report post Posted May 17, 2002 Very good point. We should come up with some sort of system for this.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 17, 2002 Yeah, I agree here. I guess it'd the same thing as the Tiger Driver '91 debate from a week or two back. Run through the stats now and then, and try not to co-opt stuff. Especially stuff that's really trademark--if you are going to do that, ask the originator, as it's only fair. Guest Suicide King Report post Posted May 17, 2002 yes, everyone in the Clan gets an operation where they implant venom sacks. neat, no? Anyway, I would think the best way to handle this would be the match markers occasionally strolling over to the stats thread and making sure there are no gimmick infringements. You know, no identical finishers, no finishers used as common moves, no everyone and their brother doing top rope fisherman busters as common moves. Standard stuff. the markers could then PM the culprit and ask them politely to edit their stats, no harm, no foul.
Guest Report post Posted May 17, 2002 I list the Black Mist as a part of my rare moves set, but you're right... In fact, I really only began thinking of the move during the very beginnings of Havoc, when my character was somewhat emulating the Clan and before then, was even set to take part in a Clan reformation. This was back in late-December to early-Janurary, and I've only used the move once or twice at most since then. Right now, seems as if I'm keeping the Mist around for novelty purposes, and the Mist is far from what the current character of Mafia is supposed to be anyway, so I'll just drop it from my stats. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 17, 2002 Now, if someone were carrying a turkey baster full of black mist, that'd be wholly acceptable.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 17, 2002 Well, just for the hell of it, I went through the JL stats thread and checka-checked it out. There aren't too many conflicts. Thankfully the ankle-lock craze of a few months back has died out. The most popular "unique" moves are five-star frogsplashes and stuff Angle/Olympic slams, aka Fireman's Carry into a samoan drop. Lots of you use them, and the Fireman's Carry seems to have become the new preferred setup hold in concocting a unique kind of move. Hell, that's not surprising - I use it for one of my signatures, so everybody should! Mwa ha ha. The TD '91 deal seems to have calmed down--I only saw two, and one was a finisher and another an extremely rare move. The only major conflict I see is that Xero's finishers are pretty popular standard moves throughout. That's not to say you're not allowed to use a Shooting Star Press, but I'd give some consideration to the Tornado DDT if it's a common or signature move of yours, because slight variants of the move are already both Xero's and Flesher/Durandal's finisher. So, the official word from Maestro MacPhisto? Not too big a deal. But man, you guys love you some fireman's carries...
Guest Muzz Report post Posted May 17, 2002 I know I'd be pissed if someone took my finisher... But I agree that you should check people's stats to make sure you're not stealing anything or using someone's finisher as a common move for instance. I mean, it wouldn't take That long to check. Of course, there's alway gonna be some problems with so many people in the fed. Damn this board is dead...

Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted May 17, 2002 I can change my finisher, or at least alter it a bit if there is any conflicts. But i'm just trying to keep in reason that the Tornado DDT is good, since he has no strength
Guest Ash Ketchum Report post Posted May 17, 2002 I haven't had anyone use any of my moves yet, though. Only two of my moves start off from the Samoan drop position, the Mew Driver and K-Cutter. I only hit one of 'em per match, though. And if any of you guys ever need help with moves, I have a HUGE list of one's I've created (And I mean that. I've even checked the indy feds and haven't seen these done.) And a weird note: In this Crimson's main event, all three competitors' finsihers are top rope DDT variations. Guest AnnieEclectic Report post Posted May 19, 2002 Well, I guess I'll have to redo my stats soon as well. I haven't really used Mist since the JL Lady Red, and her last time using it was her own blood. Damn that was cool. Tornado DDT has been an Annie staple her whole career, but it's been getting less and less used as she's slowly gotten stronger and stronger that a different move will probably take it's place. If anyone wants to use the "Death Knell' they can use it with my blessing, it's a wacked out move anyway -Annie
Guest Suicide King Report post Posted May 23, 2002 Yes... on a relatively related note, back when I first started I had to change my finisher. The full nelson forward russian legsweep now known as the breakdown ala Jericho was my baby... but alas, the WFer called Chris Wilson was already using it. So I changed it... not because I had to, but because it seemed like the right thing to do. Thus, the half nelson forward russian legsweep. What? So I didn't change it lots. Guest Ace309 Report post Posted May 23, 2002 T-Bone and I actually had a discussion about this recently. Seems he added an avalanche brainbuster as a signature move, which me and my Boilermake... er, System Crash didn't take too kindly to. He was really nice about changing it to a regular brainbuster. Good man. As a Clannie, I practically HAVE to use black mist. It's just part of the deal and it works well with my character, imo. I try to keep it as a surprise desperation move rather than a spot that happens in every match like the coffee mist was turning into. Basically, I'm trying to keep it as credible as a diversion as my Burning Hammer is as a match-ender. What REALLY bugs me is when people make it a point to use a rare move and then basically shit on it or no-sell it. MAN, that makes me mad. I like the way King put it in his stats: "Call this the xxxxxxx, but its not like it matters, since you'll never be writing it." Seriously, don't write yourself to kick out of my damn released German suplex over the top rope to the floor. It'd damn near kill you, even in wrestlingland. My 2 cents, Canadian. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 23, 2002 I like when people use rare moves well. Occasionally I've had people really use a wonderful Dragon Suplex from Edwin, and that always makes me smile. The only rare move that I'll absolutely murder someone if they defile is the Walk-Off. That's sacred, man. I'd rather someone kick-out of both my primary and alternate finisher 3 times each than one Walk-Off. That said: Thugg, Bo, if you do that, I'll kill you. Bwa ha ha.
Guest Suicide King Report post Posted May 23, 2002 Like kicking out of a Walk-Off is hard. Man, if I had a dime for every time I've done that, I'd have... oh, say... ten cents!
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 23, 2002 And we'll ignore the fact that Edwin is much less bulky than Grand Slam and it probably shouldn't even hurt that much...but NAY! HONOR! TRIBUTE! This is not the best move in the world--it's a tribute! P.S.: Tom Flesher gets wet without even trying. And I hear that, over on the JL board, there was just a horrible train accident, wherein we learned that Scott Reid loves the cock.
Guest Suicide King Report post Posted May 23, 2002 Rumor has it as well that Sydney Sky loves the... wait a second. That wouldn't be a bad thing... hmm... she loves the cock alright... IN A JAR OF FORMALDEHYDE ON THE MANTLE! AGH!!!

Guest Perfect_Bo Report post Posted May 23, 2002 Then what about the Pain? The Perfect mother fuckin pain? You know how many people have it as a signature or as a finisher? It doesnt matter if they set it up differently the outcome of the move will be the Pain... I'm not sure if I was the first one to have used it, but I think I was the first one to use it as a finisher. I've stuck with it as well.. Ya people dont know the Pain? Well it's a Diamond Cutter, and I set it up anyway I want because it can come out of nowhere. Dammit, ask permission before using it... B "Upset that bamas be using my pain." Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2002 yo I maybe a n00b but can I get a little love for the fisherman's buster. I feel like Flesher cause I know that somebodies using it. It takes away from its credibility not that it has any yet or can get any when it's a signature move for someone else and after I check the Stats thead I'll PM and ask politely if they can edit it.
