Obviously there are too many WWE championship titles.  I think they should only use three titles.

 

Heavyweight Championship

Light Heavyweight Championship

Tag Team Championship

I don't see that working unless they made major cuts roster wise. You need another belt that would serve the purpose that the IC is suppose to have. I'm a fan of cruiserweights but you can't have it as the only other singles titles in WWeee. There needs to be at least 4 belts. You need a belt for the guys that are "high mid card" but not main eventers yet.  

 

But the problem isn't the number of belts WWeee has because they have a big enough roster to use all the belts they have. Like most of WWeee's problem the writers and/or bookers are a large part of the problem. If they had competant writing staff all the belts would be fine.

The way the Euro's been booked, it's pretty much worthless except when Regal holds it, because he seems to be the only guy who cares much about it.  Hell, I say they retire the thing and just give it to him as a trophy.

 

Of course, that would probably mean that Maven would be walking around with the IC belt.  

 

It's the same old story.  The hardcore and Euro belts are basically junk because the way they're booked just makes them look like Singles Titles #4 and #5.  Totally unnecessary, but it's almost necessary that they exist, or the IC belt would be on someone new every week.  In the last year, I think HHH, Jeff Hardy, Kane, Albert, Lance Storm, Edge, Christian, Regal, RVD, and now Eddie have held the belt.  That's almost a dozen champs in a year's time.  Wrestlers don't retain the belts in feuds.  I think Regal's the only one who's managed to successfully defend his belt in a real feud, not just a throwaway random match.  Now cut out the Euro and Hardcore, which currently function as replacements for storylines so lower card guys can say "I want your belt!  Let's fight!" and you start bringing in Hurricane, Spike, Matt Hardy, Bubba, Maven, DDP, and so on and so forth.  

 

Extra belts are kind of like bad life support for writers who don't seem willing to commit to pushing anyone for longer than a month or two.  They've start-stopped on just about every one of those guys who held the IC belt, and as a result, zero of them are as over as they could and should be.  If you can make 2 or 3 stars a year, it's a lot better to take that then to go for 10 and succeed with zero.

You don't need a seconday belt.  Japan doesn't have one, they do just fine.  Besides, this way more people will get title shots.  The IC has a meaningless name and doesn't have much credability since freak shows like Chyna won it.  My idea would also make light heavyweights VERY important.  

 

All in all, everyone wins.

Back when World Championship Wrestling was a TV Show and not the name of the federation, they uses to have a World title, World TT, US title, US TT, National title, TV Title and a 6 man TT.  Their talent pool wasn't any bigger than WWe is now; why were they able to have that many belts and it never seemed like overkill, but the WWe has less than that and it seems brutal?

 

Oh yeah, the NWA didn't have title changes every month the way WWe does.

I reckon they just need to stop giving title shots so easily, they've got to make it worth it for those guys to want to get a title shot. I mean Japan is a good example of this with many of their titles very hard to get a shot at without earning it well first. These days a lot of the guys haven't earned those title shots, all that happens is they challenge the champion and he automatically gives him one, it would make more sense to let the guys work their way to getting a shot.

I know that's why you had lightweight as only other belt Risk. But we are talking about WWeee and they will never make the cruisers that important. Also because we are talking about WWeee they would have to make major roster cuts if they had just one high level belt. They have way too many guys that would be left out with only one high level belt and all them don't fit with a lightweight division.

Well, If I had the power, I would fire some of the crappy wrestlers and backstage cancers.  This would free up room for more talent.  Everyone would earn what they received.

Tihs is not much to add.....But from 411-

Chyna will be part of FOX’s “Celebrity Boxing” this Saturday. The show has already been taped and, depending on who you believe, she gets beaten by Joey Buttafuco. Of course, FOX claims that they film multiple endings for the thing so the finishes don’t get out, so believe what you will. The real story here is that Chyna would even be part of such a pathetic show. Her career has been in a downward spiral since leaving WWE and, if she loses to Buttafuco, it will be like the final dagger in her career. Her entire gimmick is based on the fact that she can challenge and beat men, but if the world watches her lose to Buttafuco in a legit boxing match, it will wreck her credibility (which has already taken a shot just due to her participating).

They film different endings? How do they do that without making the fight look fake?

I think that even though it doesn't have much prestige anymore, there has to be an IC belt, because although not every star can participate in the cruiserweight division, a cruiserweight could still get an IC belt shot.
