Somebody wanted to see what my TV in my room looked like, so I took this pic. Then I noticed something strange:

So because they did it, it's OK for Ol' Neddy to blatantly take a joke someone else said, say "Hey...replace 'fucker' with Beaner, and we got a new joke!," and say said joke on his TV show like he made it up? C'mon. Denis Leary, Bill Hicks, Robin Williams, and Milton Berle may have "stolen" the joke, but they all made it their own because they're TALENTED.

It's funny that Leary & Hicks were mentioned side-by-side, seeing as the former stole the latter's act every bit as blatantly as Mencia's thefts have been.

Unless you mean "yelling the punchlines instead of just saying them", I don't see how Leary made any of it "his own". He just retold another person's jokes (sometimes in the same words) and pretended that they were his own.

Meh, Andrew Dice Clay rocked arenas without doing anything, and he was awful.

Yeah, you don't like him, and I don't really either, but you're telling me you can't learn things about how to work a comedy audience from him?

Nah, not really. The act would never work again. He didn't have any more charisma than the next guy, it's just that he had shock value at the time.

Yeah, I would hate Leary, since he's basically 90% Bill Hicks... but he has the asshole song, and Rescue Me... and is a decent actor... so yeah.

I do notice though for most of the people who steal a joke... they don't do anything differently but yell it. Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia, Dennis Leary... it's just weird. Like the time Mencia ripped one of Cosby's best bits about how fathers usually don't get any respect compared to mothers. Mencia took it word for word.... except he just yelled and added a "MOTHERFUCKER!!!" or two.

And I have been proven wrong.

Whatever, it's MY opinion that it's his own. MY opinion. Opinion.

He made a comeback a couple of years ago with a VH1 reality show, that led up to him doing his coming out of retirement show, and it sold out an auditorium. The show had decent ratings, and Dice still had it.

I can appreciate what the guy does. When he pops up on VH1 shows and says something, like the countdowns on I love the 80's or whatever, I always mark out for him.

Are we talking about the "itchy asshole" joke? Because that was a case of "rehashing an idea" rather than stealing a joke.

There you go.

Sooooo... did you actually watch that video or are you just posting it? Because the only one of those that seemed even a little like joke stealing was the first one. Are you telling me that ONLY Louis C.K. can joke about naming his kids or having an itchy asshole?

Wait, what? I thought that his VH1 show was going to lead to him "playing Giants Stadium" ... and that nothing ever came of it. Where did he perform as a result of that show? (Not trying to call you out on anything, legitimately uncertain if he ended up actually accomplishing by doing the show)

I know he had a somewhat big comeback a few years ago when he was paired with Opie & Anthony (I think he played MSG, although not anywhere near a sell-out) but I didn't think he had much success after the 'reality' show.

No, I didn't watch it. I had no sound on the computer I was using, so I just assumed it was the same video I had seen before. Which was actually so long ago I can't remember it.

But since the first one applied, I suppose that's good enough. Joke stealing is like sin, or racial impurity. One drop is all it takes.

The last episode he performed at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom.Which amused me endlessly watching the show. Having grown about an hour away from there, The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, like most casino ballroom, generally hosts washed up acts from the 70s and 80s (Shit like Eddie Money, KC & The Sunshine Band, The Beach Boys). It was just amusing to see that be the result of Dice's comeback. And the show didn't mention that he was co-headlining with Artie Lange, who had to have been the main attraction for a good portion of the audience.

Yeah, that's how it went.

I watched the entire series on a marathon one day, so it all runs together after a while.

The dude was still as decent as Andrew Dice Clay could ever be.

Nigga needs to do somethin' about them lil badass kids of his.

Comedy will always be copied and re-done and "stolen". It's about as old as prositution and you'll be hard to find a hooker who's doing something that no other hooker is doing or has done. Comedy's not much different.

With that said, Dane Cook has definitely raped CK's act, and with the way he pursues other people who steal his shit, it's pretty hypocritical.

Carlos Mencia however, is not a comedian, and calling him a comedian is even offensive to people like Gallagher and Andrew Dice Clay.

A) I didn't have to pay for the TV. It works great, too.

B) I am "stetching 4:3" because DirecTV fucks their customers. They offer amazing deals to new customers when it comes to HD receivers, but charge 5 times more for existing customers to "upgrade".

Wrong folder, Matt.

Um, no. This has nothing to do with what type of programming is on the TV.

don't forget, the Ballroom is also a great place for WWE house shows...

After two or three of the most hellish weeks of my life, during which I tore my apartment apart several times looking for anything even remotely pornographic, I now have internet access again. What did I miss?

I'm a little troubled by VH1's "I Love the New Millennium" series. It's a lot like that Onion article about nostalgia becoming so accelerated that we'll eventually run out of past, which will result in us becoming nostalgic for things that haven't happened yet. I mean, the decade is still in progress. They couldn't have waited a year and a half to roll this thing out? Are people really that eager to have pop culture fads from 2005 reflected on by Michael Ian Black and Chris Jericho?
