Loudest pop ever?

Recommended Posts

Guest TheDames7

Before Wednesday night/Thursday morning, I would have said Rock-Hogan was the loudest pop that I had ever been witness to, but no longer!

Scenario:

Theater packed with 110 Star Wars fans, watching trailers for stupid movies like Lil' Bow Wow's "Like Mike"...  All just anticipating for the movie to start.  Screen turns black.  Green lettering & symbols start scrolling down the screen!!!

Loudest pop EVER!

Matrix trailer for the next two films rocked the house!  I don't even think the big fight scene at the end between **** and ***** got that big of a pop!

What about you guys?  Loudest pop that you've ever been witness to?

Dames

At a WWFshow in Alberta, i think it was Raw. Jericho mentioned Owen after the show went off the air and EVERYONE was standing and chanting OWEN until their thrats gave out. for that moment alone it was worth the trip to alberta for the show

Well...i've only ever been one wrestling event here in Australia, and that was Monday Nitro when WCW toured here...

The atmosphere of wrestling LIVE is about 50000000 times what you witness at home watching on your television..so i'd have to say the loudest pop i've ever witnessed was when Sting entered the Brisbane Entertainment Centre from the roof. The place went fuckin' balistic...and i did too!

This has been the Taker Mark...also marking for Sting

Loudest non-wrestling pop was in 8th grade when my basketball team made it to the playoffs for the first time. The crowd was filled with mostly little kids, and everytime we scored the kids just went wild...you couldn't even hear yourself think it was so loud. We lost, but still it gave me chills just to be a part of that.

As for wrestling, on TV it was Hogan's thing from last night.

Just another reason for me to hate that town.

In person, Unforgiven 2000 when Stone Cold returned. Honest to God, I didn't realize he even had new music until Raw the next night. And the feeling in the arena right before the glass shatter was just amazing.

Forget the pop at the begining of the movie, I think the biggest pop ever was the scene with Yoda at the end of the movie.

I was already popping when I saw him walking into the hangar because I'd read in reviews that Yoda was the REAL action star of the movie.

Boy was that reviewer right.

The pop for the opening title was big too, but I managed to silence the HUGE Matrix preview pop by laughing at all the little Matrix drones when the screen said 2003.

"Ha ha! Gotta wait another year, you silly bastards!" I yelled, very loudly. I got stuff thrown at me, but it was worth it.

In my sophmore year in high school, 1998, The basketball team went to the semi-state part of the state tournament (after sectional and regional, in case some don't know.)  We had a pep rally in the gym, and we had one of the high schools close down and half the kids came to our school, so there were probably at least 1600 people in that gym.  Anyway, they talked to the "indian chief" (a hologram of an indian against the wall with the athletic director on the PA), and said something like what is going to happen against Pike High School in the Semi-state game this weekend?  And the spirit replied:

"YOU WILL KICK PIKE'S ASS."

Everyone in the gym was going apeshit, and if you translate the 1600-some people in that gym into 20,000 or so on SD, that would come pretty damn close.

We lost the damn game though...   :(

Non-wrestling pop: Our school winning the Leinster School's Senior Cup Final for the first time in 10 years. Lansdowne road was in uproar of jubilation and some people that lived nearby were annoyed by the noise.

Oh that was in Rugby and I'm from Ireland since it probably made no sense what so ever to most of you guys.

Wrestling: Probably Hogan's on Smackdown! I can't remember a bigger or longer one in wrestling.

Buffalo Bills Stadium. They were playing Miami. I hate both damn teams but my uncle had an extra ticket so I went. This was 3-4 years ago and the score was close at the end of the game and the crowd was so Fuckin' unbelievably deafening it wasn't funny. Even Dan Marino was yelling at the fans to shut up, because his guys couldn't hear his calls. Some die hard fans there in Buffalo. Dumbass'

when Flair came back in Greenville at the bilocenter( i was there oh yeah) and gave the greatest speech of all time against Bischoff. 13,000 people didnt shut up at all. Flair was in tears as was alot of the people in the audience because Greenville grew up with Flair. Every monday nite in the early 80s, NWA would come to the old Greenville Auditorium. The last show before the auditorium got torn down was WCW in 1997. He fought Savage in a decent match but after he lost, he got on the mic for about 10 minutes and thanked Greenville South Carolina. He was in tears and the roof almost came off. That is the 2nd loudest pop i have ever heard.

2 Biggest pops I've ever been a part of, both at Buffalo Bills games at Ralph Wilson Stadium.  They were basically sustained 2 hour pops.

(1)  January of 1991:  After 30 years of losing, the Bills kicked the Raiders' ass 51-3 in the AFC championship game (we're not going to talk about the super bowl, I don't want to cry).  Their offense put on maybe the greatest display in history by scoring 41 points in the first half, doing whatever the hell they wanted to.  The 80,000 strong just let it out the whole game.

(2)  January of 1993:  Bills come back against the Houston Oilers after being down 35-3.  When Andre Reed caught a TD pass to put the Bills up 38-35, it was just bedlam.  People were literally jumping up and down on their seats.  That whole second half was the greatest thing I have ever witnessed.  I was 13 at the time, and it was just amazing.  Most of the people actually lost their voices for a few days.  People who had left the game at halftime were climbing the fences to get back in.  That was some event.

The loudest pop I remember was WM15 when the glass shattered.  I don't ever remember a crowd popping like they did for Austin that night.

My dad was selling programs at Superbowl XXVII (I was 10 at the time), and I was there with him, although I didnt get to see much of the game. When Michael Jackson jumped out of the stage to do the halftime show, he got the biggest pop I've ever heard.
