Bobby heenan's new book

Recommended Posts

An advance copy of "Bobby the Brain: Wrestling's Bad Boy Tells All" was sent to my job yesterday, so I picked it up. I've only skimmed it, but Bobby talks about stuff like the steroid trial and the sexual harassment stuff. From the few pages I've read, though, Heenan can't write for shit. He uses really short sentences, and he has no flow. Like when he talks about Gorilla Monsoon, it's like: "Gorilla was a nice guy. He liked to gamble. He'd carry around $25,000 on him. He played slots." Hulk Hogan of all people writes the forward, but I haven't read it yet. I hope this book is better than Bret Hart's sister's book.

sounds great. I remember whenever Wrestlemania was in Atlantic City, Ventura joked abotu Monsoon losing all but his shorts at the craps table. Interesting to find out that he was serious.

I've read a little bit more. It's apparent that...

1. Bobby hates Tony Schiavone and WCW in general

2. He's not that smart

3. He's still going to kiss the WWF's ass since they're his only shot at a job.

and he should.  the wwe would be so perfect for Bobby Heenan to work in.  then tazz can go back to wrestling and bobby can work smackdowns!

I'm about halfway through now. Bobby is going for some kind of medal, kissing Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan's asses repeatedly.

In one part he's talking about how Jesse Ventura and Hogan didn't like each other. Bobby says Ventura was "terribly jealous" of Hogan, who always drew more money than him. He then knocks Ventura for not being able to bump and says Hogan is a good worker, adding that Jesse "wouldn't have even been a good job guy." He slams Jesse for never putting Hogan over on TV (but fails to mention that heel announcers don't do that). Finally, Bobby says, "They should have just put the two [Hogan and Ventura] in a room and let them go at it. But Hogan would have come out on top." He then praises Hogan for carrying ZEUS through matches.

As far as Vince is concerned, Bobby has nothing but praise for him. And whenever he talks about something bad in the WWF -- like the fact that he was told, while in the hospital for surgery, that if he didn't do a show that night he'd get fired -- it's never Vince's fault. "Someone from the WWF told me I'd get fired," Bobby says. Um, Bob, WHO DO YOU THINK TOLD THEM TO SAY THAT! Oh, and supposedly Vince came up with the term, "broadcast journalist."

I don't care, it should be a good read anyway. Hey, does anyone know how Bobby is doing? I haven't heard anything on him in months. -Jim

He was getting treated for cancer last I heard.  Why doesn't he seem that smart, Redhawk?  He was obviously very sharp and on the ball while announcing in his heyday.  Has his mental prowess gone off the boil?  The last PPV I remember him calling was Souled Out 2000 and he was AWFUL, no interest in the product whatsoever.

The way he writes, it's like an old man just spouting off everything he can remember about a given topic.

For example: "Hogan was cool. I liked him. He made more money than anyone in the buisness. One time, he drank too much coffee and came to the ring really buzzed. His wife was pretty." Stuff like that.

I can't wait to read the book.  Heenan rules all and I can't wait to hear all of his hilarious stories.
